In this video, we'll be taking a look at some of the school supplies that we purchased at both Target and Walmart to be donated to a local elementary school! I hope you enjoy it. :)

And now for some of the FAQs:
1. Yes, the schools in the USA really do ask parents to buy things.
2. Yeah, wow, that’s crazy.
3. No, we don’t like it, either, but that’s life.
4. A great deal of the money allocated to “education” in the USA never makes it to the teachers, students, and schools for basic supplies. That is not a subject for this channel. We’re here to relax, not debate stuff. You can do that elsewhere. Anyone doing it here will be banned, and your comment will be deleted. I hate to be so harsh, but this is a real problem every year, and I mean to put a stop to it.
5. No matter what country you live in, you have to pay for dumb things, too.
6. No, parents are not punished if they either can’t or won't bring in these supplies. No consequences await those who don’t contribute. However, the teachers often have to pay for supplies out of their own pocket when no one provides them - and that can cost a teacher hundreds of dollars a year. Hopefully, by donating these things, we can help prevent at least a little bit of that.
7. No, nobody cares to hear how awesome your country is right now. This is not a contest. No matter where you live in the world, everyone is struggling. Maybe you can take that all-caps energy and help someone in your area. A little kindness would go a long way.
8. The Ziploc bags are used for a variety of things in the classroom. It may seem like a strange request, but they come in handy to store little bits of stuff, fragile projects, and dirty clothes, among other things.
9. The headphones are used for classroom stuff/laptop use. It helps prevent the spread of lice, germs, etc. for each child to have their own set of headphones. Yeah, the school should provide them. No, they often don’t.
10. I will continue to do these back-to-school shopping trips to help out my community every year, as long as I am financially able to do so. In a perfect world, it wouldn’t be necessary to buy any of these things, but we don’t live in a perfect world. I want to help as many people as I can, for as long as I can.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s relax and enjoy some shopping. 😊

I sure do miss buying school supplies! My son is older now and just needs “basics” paper, pencils. This has inspired me to reach out to local schools and see what I can do!
Same here. My kid got older, and especially with the shut downs, didn’t really need much anymore bedsides her laptop. I love getting new school supplies so it’s bittersweet that she didn’t need stuff anymore.

Omg it's so interesting to see what schools in other countries ask to buy for the year🤩. I am a high-school student in Italy and here only for the first year in a new school they give a sort of list of items that could be needed but it is mostly on families to choose what their children is bringing to class. Also the fact that you decided to donate these things to schools is very kind and it should be something that everyone who has the possibility should do to help🥰
Not only very calming and relaxing to watch but quite informative as well. If we all could try to add a grade or two to our list it would help teachers, students, and parents who may be struggling. This is a terrific idea.

so nice your helping out sadly so many schools run low on supplies and teachers have too pay out of there own pockets . when supplies have reached there limits for classrooms . my childrens teachers over the years have told me that . your a sweet lady 💕

My mom was a behavior disorder teacher up until she retired and she always bought tons of supplies herself as her students' families could not contribute and the old, country school was dirt poor as well. You're so amazing for doing this and encouraging others to do the same! Also, AHAHAHA @ the toilet paper math!!! So funny!!! :D :D :D

As someone who’s lived in the UK my whole life this video is fascinating to me as well as relaxing. Over here mostly everything is provided for by the schools, my little girl is in nursery (kindergarten I guess it would be over there) and I send in nappies and wipes in her back pack but everything else is provided. I guess it’s something I’ve always taken for granted until I started to watch your school supply videos.
Also the sweets/candy in school the kids over here would be so jealous they are REALLY against sweets in schools over here to the extreme but much to the dismay of most parents as they even police what we send in their packed lunches. Fruit is provided at snack time for my daughter but we aren’t even allowed to send in apple juice/orange juice/fruit juices etc they’re only allowed water not even flavoured water.
I said it at Christmas when you got those beautiful gifts for those 2 little girls and I’ll say it again you are an absolute earth Angel Mary, if only there were more people out there like you. Your community is extremely lucky to have you, as are all of us here 💖
I live in the UK too and it's because of the sugar content in most juices and even in some flavoured waters. It's really unhealthy - water is always the better option; you can slice up lemon or cucumbers and infuse it in the water to add natural flavour
@@SOMETHINGTOSLOW I know but my daughter has autism and will only drink certain things so if keeping her hydrated means she has a sugar free squash over water than that’s what I give her otherwise she will go without a drink all day. Luckily her nursery does provide squash or milk at snack time so she is able to hydrate then but during the heatwave we had the last week of school it was such a worry 😢

@@emmajane9986 it's ok! Defo try it and see how she does on it! You can do all sorts of fun flavours! Also try looking into foods that have a higher water content where she can get a different source of hydration from. I know there's also electrolyte supplements you can dissove in water, I believe xx

I hesitate to do tapping videos because SOOOO many people complain when I do them. It makes me not want to do them anymore. :(
@@SouthernASMRSounds I know, there are are always selfish jerks. I hesitate to tell you what to do, but I'd suggest doing one if you want with the FAQ and then boot anyone who gripes anyway. Generally I find that tapping isn't my favorite, but I think that's more the "fast tap" ones. Your video with the slow tapping on the apple was great.

I think you're so amazing so sweet and generous but just so you know the three pack of wipes is a total of 216 or whatever wipes each pack has about 60 wipes in it same thing with the Clorox wipes it's a total of 150 sheets or whatever so each one of them has about 50

If that was the case in the UK half my class wouldn't even have a pencil to write with 🙈 Also sweets are mostly banned in schools too no way would we be allowed to give them out.
Hey there! Yes, this is correct. Every year before school is due to start, we receive school supply lists & this usually includes whatever our children need as well as some extra items to help cover the class in case of situations like if families can’t afford the necessary supplies. Our teachers here in the US are unfortunately not compensated with any sort of budget to cover the cost of school supplies or anything else in their classrooms, if not for school supply lists the teachers would be left to pay for everything out of their own paychecks. Our education system desperately needs a reform but I know all my teacher friends are eternally grateful for kind souls like Miss Mary here. 😊

@@lissamae4314 They rely on those extras that are on school supply lists. I know teachers who, if they know there are students coming from families with financial struggles, will try to help them out but that help comes directly from the kindness of their own heart and their own dime. As a mother, the way a lot of things are set up here is frustrating but especially the school system. Also overall, we have such an abundance of resources but it doesn’t always get distributed down to benefit those who really need it.

To answer your question for like folders usual teachers have students Mark the name of the class and subject with a permanent marker which makes it nearly impossible to reuse them and for notebooks there's usually not enough paper for more than one year. And oftentimes school's will ask for extra supplies so if the parents of the students can't afford or simply won't buy school supplies the student can still get the required supplies.
