My parent’s parish priest doesn’t bow at the Holy Name of Jesus. The younger priest does, but the older one doesn’t and he always seems lethargic when he celebrates the liturgy.
incidentally, his successor now just issued a motu proprio called traditionis custodes (guardians of tradition) which is putting restrictions to the latin mass, reversing Benedict XVI.. just disheartening. That motu proprio should be translated like “prison guards of tradition” than “guardians” really.

We have had some very, VERY bad popes throughout the history of the Church, but they were nonetheless true popes, not antipopes. The papacy of Pope Francis has brought me much anxiety, but he is still our Sovereign Pontiff, and we should pray very much for him.

Liturgically, Bergoglio is a disaster. He seems so bored and disinterested in the celebration of Holy Mass. no solemnity, no beautiful vestments and no singing. He can kneel to wash the feet of Muslims and women on holy Thursday, but he can't kneel during the consecration of the Mass. May this pontificate be a short one, MA the new pope at least be Catholic !

I know several theology teachers who are of the opinion priests should not be 'forced' to say mass every day. They show that by taking 20 minutes out of their day to rush through it like they're running after a bus. You can only imagine how men like that pray the breviary. As for the pontificate, it has allready been too long by 6 years. May God protect his Church.

When people vacation in Italy, the first place they visit is the beautiful baroque churches that were made 1000 years ago. Nobody visits the 1960's churches that look like apple stores. Even atheists know what Catholicism should look like.

I arrived in Rome at 6pm and found this hotel. When I unpacked I took a walk-see to get the "bearings" on where I was. I turned a corner and there was Ssnta Maria Maggiore in full glory. Luckily, without trying, I found tbe Church where the pope laid slavic liturgy books on the altar and blessed the mission of st Methodius and st cyrill. I walked in just to pray a bit. But 7pm mass started 3 minutes latet. For the whole week of my stay I attended morning mass at Santa Maria Maggiore. Except sunday. Then I went to st Peters. Sadly the pope's Mass at capella de santa sede was full so I attended mass in a side chappel...still a beautiful thing.
