It not only showed Ed’s sadness for Mrs Kringle’s death, but also penguin and Selina’s developed sadness for his mom and Bridgit. It describes all three of their yearning for 3 people that three inevitable villains cared about taken away from them.
This is all so beautiful but I just want to give extra praise for these certain parts of it that I just found so incredible: 0:48 - 0:53 , 1:02 - 1:34 , 1:52 - 2:41 and even more emphasis on 2:14 - 2:27. God, I wish this series would never end and never stop giving us these phenomenal scores.
Me: No, don't tell her, Ed. No. NO. NOOOOO. ED!!! What are you doing? NOOOOOOO. I love the fact that Jim keeps trying to reach the original Ed, when he mentions the fondue dinner they all had while Ed holds him hostage to get into the Council in season 3, "You can stop this, Ed. You can just decide to stop."
After I watched the two first episodes of the final season when they were diffused for the first time on tv, I went to my bedroom and listen to this soundtrack. When the part at 2:00 began, I just burst in tears, realizing that Gotham was about to end. I think I'm a bit too sensitive when it comes to games, movies and shows I love
It was saddening to say the least. You had Ed becoming the Riddler and accidentally killing Ms. Kringle. That and Selina actually showing crying over the supposed death of Bridgit. Tbh, I felt so bad for poor Bridgit.
I love all of this track, but from 2:00 on is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard produced for tv. Wow. The emotion it exudes even without the scene behind it (which is made all the more powerful by the score) is amazing. The first time I watched Gotham, the score is even what stood out to me most in that scene.
Wow, I just knew your name was already known to me. Just yestarday I was hearing the soundtracks from Vanya in The Umbrella Academy and them transmit such a feeling that actually made me cry. So today hearing them again I remember the soundtracks from Gotham and I was like OMG maybe the soundtracks are from the same compositer! And yep they were. Postscript: My favorite one was the soundtrack from Vanya´s past, and sorry english it's not my native language, so I just hope the message it's not confuse.
I've never watched this show but this song SLAPS so I made a little story thingy to go along with it (For context, I guess this scene takes place in the late 1940s or the early 1950s) 0:00- we see a woman, in a child's bedroom. She is pregnant & tidying up her baby's future nursery. Once she is satisfied, she leaves the room, taking one last look into the room & smiling as she turns off the light & shuts the door. 0:13- she walks down the hall & we see that we are in a small but homely decorated apartment in a rather big city, maybe Chicago or New York. She enters the main room of the apartment & we see many photographs of her & a man, her husband, a detective at the local police department, on the walls & the side tables. As she nears the kitchen we cut to a shot following her down the hall. As she enters the kitchen, a black shape momentarily blocks the camera as it passes in front of it. She is not alone. 0:17- She enters the kitchen & puts a kettle on the stove for tea. She glances towards a clock on the wall & her brow furrows as she bites her lip, her husband is noticeably late. She returns her attention to the kettle. 0:26- she walks back to the main room with two teacups. She places the cups on a small table that sits between two large armchairs that are facing the fireplace. She lightly pokes the fire before settling into one of the armchairs with a book. Her husband has been very busy at work, a serial killer is roaming the city & her husband is leading the charge to catch him & has been staying late at work because of it. 0:54- Something is wrong. Maybe it's the slight creak of a floorboard, the draft from a barely opened window, or maybe all of those late-night discussions she & her husband shared about his grisly work have finally gotten to her. Whatever the reason, she marks the page in her book, sets it down on the table, stands up, & exits into the hallway. 1:07- She walks down the hallway, towards the phone to check up on her husband. Her fingers have barely brushed the receiver when she senses something, someone, behind her. She is not alone 1:10- Cut to a man, walking down the street. He is tired but has an air of professionalism about him, his very presence commands the respect of all those around him. He is the man from the photographs, he is the woman's husband, the detective. He briefly glances down at his watch before almost skipping up the steps to the entrance of his apartment building. He can't help but smile as he starts to ascend the stairs, after a long day of crime scenes & interrogations, he just wants to see his wife/family. 1:18- The woman turns around & comes face to face with the stranger. Maybe it's his cold & menacing gaze, maybe it's the knife in his hand, but she knows that this man, this monster, is the killer her husband is chasing. She briefly catches her reflection in the knife, there is a look of vague understanding in her eyes. She locks eyes with the man in front of her, gaze unwavering, before a cut to black. She is not alone. 1:42- The detective enters the apartment. He sets his briefcase down, brushes his shoes against the doormat, & hangs his hat & coat. He walks down the hallway & sniffs the air, flowers, tea, &....blood. He stops, draws his gun & slowly continues down the hallway. He stops just before the living room entrance & slowly moves around the corner. The sound of his gun hitting the wooden floor echoes through the apartment. She was not alone. 1:57- Two teacups lay shattered on the floor, a book lay next to them, its pages stained with spots of tea. The end table & one of the armchairs is on their sides in front of the fireplace. The photographs of the detective & his wife that once stood perfectly arranged around the room now haphazardly scattered around the floor. But it was not the damage to his home that stunned the detective, it was the deep crimson blood that was sprinkled across the walls & flowed freely from the deep gash on his wife's neck. The detective ran to her, slipping on the blood & falling onto his knees. He continued his movements, crawling the remaining distance & pulling her into his arms with a sob. His shaking hand brushed some crimson-soaked hair out of her face as his other hand checked her pulse. Her glassy eyes met his as his fingers were met with no movement beneath her skin. Her heart had ceased & her breathes had long since died in her throat. He lets out a truly mournful wail as he buries his head in the untouched crook of her neck. Sobs rack his body as he clutches his best friend, the love of his life, & the mother of the child that would never be. His mind flashed with memories, memories of the held hands, warm embraces, & loving words they shared. He lifts his head to cry out in anguish when something catches his eye. 2:35- A symbol, drawn onto the wall in his wife's blood, the same symbol that lay hidden in every crime scene of the serial killer, the signature of the depraved monster he had been trying to capture. The meaning behind the bloody emblem had evaded him for months, but now, as he held his wife's slowly cooling corpse, he found it's message. 2:43 "You are but a man. I am Death."
Kristen: You are a psychopath!
Ed: That is not true! That's not who I am! Don't say that about me!
I love this track. Such a raw, emotional twist on Nygma's theme.
When I heard This soundtrack playing after Nygma killed Kringle it really made me cry... Such a powerful soundtrack
That and you saw Selina shed tears for her unfortunate friend Brigit.
Kaan Yılmaz me to
Finally found it :') the best theme on the show, so Beautiful!
This is such a beautiful Peace because it showed how much he loved her and when she died he slowly was driven into madness
It not only showed Ed’s sadness for Mrs Kringle’s death, but also penguin and Selina’s developed sadness for his mom and Bridgit. It describes all three of their yearning for 3 people that three inevitable villains cared about taken away from them.

this is so beautiful. it gives the emotions and the feelings of Nygma so perfectly.
My god, such a powerful track!

I'm crying again. But this time I read, "The Unfortunate Demise of Gotham." 😢😢😢😭😭😭
This is sad in my opinion
yeah, it really leaves us with a taste of sadness, but still good!
Hannah Leslie I thought that was the point.
This whole entire episode was extremely sad near the end. What made this scene my favorite scene, was this.
Wow I finally found it. What a masterpiece :O
The most epic ending of the show! ❤️
Lee even tried to reach out to Riddler season 4 and tried to turn him back to the original Ed
Gotham has a good score.
I miss Kristen :'(
don't we all....... she was sweet.
This episode was phenomenal. This soundtrack is phenomenal. Had to find it.
Ugh you can just FEEL the emotion in the music! I love this so much!
I just now realized that the beginning is a slowed down version of what becomes the riddler's theme. That is freaking brilliant
I have been searching for this for a long time
Your a star for uploading this :) Thank you
Well, it's the channel of the composer of the soundtrack!
This TV show always had something special to me, it had a heart.

I know your pain.
"The beginning of a very clever BATMAN villain". These songs of 1 and 2 season touch me already others do not!
I was filled with dread when I watch this scene
Its so thrill!!! I love it, in the start the music is like minutes before murder and the end is describing GOTHAM as it truly is
I'm crying again. Each time I watch this scene I cry.
JC 2106 I know. I heard it when Ed kissed Lee. I got suspicious.
JC 2106 😂😂😂

Is that a riddle or a grammatical error?
