It's good that you can make so many mistakes and still get there in the end, though. I know some would argue it's because there aren't any "real" choices, but I don't think so. It's very possible to fuck up worse than that... at least on a theoretical level.
You'd have to be a real asshole to choose some of those decisions, though.

seriously, the actors for Hank and Connor did such a fantastic job, as much as everyone else did of course, but something about those two, just sounds so believable. Hanks genuine concern and sadness, conners inner turmoil and when his voice shakes as he says he is ok, my heart T^T
That's because Clancy Brown is a beast and did table reads with Bryan like a professional. David Cage wanted to be artsie and didn't care about delivery. Clancy Brown is why they were so good. Luv 'im...
They act and sound so real because, of everyone, I think their relationship IRL developed much stronger, I guess? Clancy had other responsibilities he'd agreed to when Detroit asked him to return for shooting, so they did EVERY scene involving Hank first, right off the bat, bam-bam-bam-bam, just like that, so that Clancy could still uphold his other responsibilities.
Clancy and Bryan also improvised at times - according to Bryan, the rooftop chase scene where Clancy ends up slapping Conner for not saving him, was improvised. The slap was never in the script and Clancy just gave Bryan a wink before doing it; honestly, I'm surprised Bryan was able to react so smoothly to something he was only given warning for 0.5 seconds beforehand. The crew members thought Clancy had ACTUALLY slapped him, and were all like "Bryan, are you okay?!" when they finished acting out the rest of the scene.
In turn, Bryan said he "had to get Clancy back" for slapping him. So at Hank's house, to wake him up, he does that light smacking and then BAM - slap to the face. If you pay close attention, you can see Conner smiling, then not smiling, then smiling again, repeatedly as he's taking Hank into the bathroom - which I doubt was intentional but Bryan was probably trying not to laugh given Clancy's amazing performance in that particular scene (on top of getting to slap him).

Its probably because they have more room to grow than the other characters and they have a buddy dynamic. While Markus and Kara do meet others during their endavours, they are more on their own from a game and acting perspective.

I know I'm probably looking way into it, but I love the line read at 42:17 when Connor says "I know what I shoulda done" instead of "should've done." Before this moment I don't think he's spoken without fully enunciating his words (like, yknow, a robot) but that slip in the moment really shows how much more human he's becoming, and how you hear it in his voice. Idk, just find it cool!
