I got the phantom bow from a box first. Then found all the phantom bow dogtags and went up the elevator with two strangers with one of them being someone who helped many players complete their phantom program. This was about one or two years ago. I have 1000+ kills with the phantom bow now.
I remember picking the bow up and being surprised. A friend who did the entire phantom ops was pissed and literally quoted this video by saying I didn't earn it. I said I earned it by picking it up, I probably won't end up is my it a lot but I have it now. He wasn't very happy after that. LUCKILY he grew up and we had some fantastic memories of pretending to be Rambo.
I have always felt so bad about this, since when I first got the phantom bow this way, I had no idea the phantom program even existed. So now I have dedicated my whole life to completing it so I can finally earn the worst gun in the entire game.
I actually went and did the whole phantom program thing back in the days, fun times. Even, - _somehow_ - managed to convince an entire server to help me get the dice camo. Never got the Peace Keeper in BF1 tho, I sould try someday.
I remember just about finishing the Phantom Challenge on console. I needed 1 more valid dog tag. Then I built my gaming PC, and none of my progress was transferrable. Fuck doing that a second time. As soon as the bow was in the box, I grabbed it. Fuck doing the Phantom Challenge a second time.
Someday... somehow... we WILL get a Bowpod in Battlefield and when that day comes, we need an episode where Colonel finally loses it and goes apeshit crazy because of how much time he spends in these games and how they've gotten worse in recent years lol
I remember this incident well, a old buddy of mine worked his ass off to get all the phantom challenges done nonstop, and was super pissed when he found out that DICE was gonna make it available for everyone afterword's, he was actually so pissed off about it that he got fired from 3 different places cause when he found out a customer actually just got the bow from the crate he would cuss them out. last I heard he moved to another state cause of how he couldn't get a job around his area anymore. Edit: his first job was at a grocery store, second was at a Walmart, then the last was at his if I remember correctly his dad's shop.
I feel for the Ammo guy. I got my bow the hard way(back when it was the olny way). All that grind and joining no kill servers for tags then the elevator just to see it to be given away for free.
to be honest i never got upset that they gave the bow away for free. the reason is the people who got it from the box never got the experience going into even a dedicated sever and hunting with other people on voice chat. i had meet some of the coolest people and had a pretty great time looking for the spawns and after getting it for the entire server we took a group photo with everyone who stayed and equipped the bow.

I’d like to point out that in a 2 year period you’d need to get 154 spot bonuses per day in order to get Col 100 on them alone. That’s assuming every 4 gets you a ribbon.
I can relate to the other Engineer cause I'd be aggravated enough with tears of blood running down if they made the Peacekeeper from BF1 available for everyone to use.
Yeah, I remember doing all the bs for the bow then I got a new console and it didnt transfer that over and I was pissed. At least I got it back from that box, still mad that happened.

That being said the quest was fun, kind of wish they had more hidden places like that in 2042. There is ALOT of places to explore in 2042 so it made me wonder if the developers wanted to do something diffrent than what happened.
Ok recon is right people don’t usually have the time to do things to get the weapons unlock before they made it public for others to use and it is fair the kills they get is fair so you wanted to work hard to get it before that’s on you so you can’t get mad if they going to release it to the public it means you made the choice and have to live with it not yell about it

LOL. Or put full camo on in jungle maps and hunting my enemies like animals.

I honestly could've kept going but A7X fans know waddup with 6661. I could be wrong but I believe the 500 kills mastery tag was also locked? I Only say this because years back I encountered one guy that had 1000 kills with the bow on battlelog, but he didn't show up on either BF4Stats nor did he apparently have the tag equipped which leads me to believe that was also for people who earned it. Funny because also kinda made me a bit of an archery fanatic myself as well (granted, for me it started back in Crysis 3), nothing my fancy tho, had a basic compound for a while, still do. Fun times.

I spent months looking for one in both search only lobbies and normal matches but couldn't find one since the stupid fucking shit rules DICE made for it.

I hope the next Battlefield is better, i want Future Soldiers man, i want 2143 and i wanna see what kinda crazy wacky shit BFF's will come up with for that and i want the game itself to be well designed.
