They're so good aren't they! I really like the ones with Karin Dreijer (What Else Is There, This Must Be It). I really love The Knife / Fever Ray as well, they did some really good tracks though I've not listened to their latest albums! :)
Interesting collection you have. It reminded me when I went in Scandinavia, the tour guide put music in the bus. That was fun. And also he put a fairy tale, the east of the sun and the west of the moon by Tom Muir.
Thank you Suzanne! That's really lovely - I've just looked up the Tom Muir video and will give it a play in a bit with a morning cup of coffee and some stitching! :)
Thank you Joanne! I think they're worth checking out but then again I'm biased as I picked them haha! :D But I'm sure there'll be some artists in there that you might enjoy!
My sister loves Robyn and wishes she had new music too. I'm currently listening to Neon Trees. Introduced to them by a local alternative station here. I'm late to the party 😅 Thanks for showing off some of your vinyls. Love that Europe is the pop music region of the world. Have a great day ❄️
I don't know Neon Trees but I'll give them a listen! I think that when bands genuinely make original music they'll be great wherever they are - sadly the parts in the world where labels / the industry has more power, you'll get more bland and processed music. The Nordics really have produced some amazing pop. Lately I've also been listening more to music from Asia, especially from India. So many amazing acts there that folks really haven't heard of. I should do an Asian recommendations list at some time! :D
Hi Jacob Thank you for showing your LP Albums of Nordic Music - Sweden Music and so forth. I have quite the stack of Albums myself but they came from Readers Digest Record Collections and they are the heavy set ones. I got the 50’s and the 60’s and so forth. Now you can’t even buy them anymore. We use to have a Record Store in the Mall and that is where I went and bought some of my Records - Cassette Tapes. My Second Mom had a 8 Track Player. I also got lots of 45’s too. They all came from a Juke Box that was inside of a Truck Stop Gas Station-Restaurant. When you was showing all of your Record Albums it brought back memories of me buying Records and having all of the 45’s from a Juke Box. Thank You Jacob ❤️🤗🎄🎅🏻☕️🎹❤️
Thank you Linda - that's such a wonderful memory! Memories with music are just so strong, and they really take us back to a time and place don't they. I remember the record shop in my town - I was too young to buy albums at the time, but my sister would and I'd come along and we'd go through the bins and hunt for albums. It was always so much fun going to new towns and finding different shops and hoping that that one record would be there! :D
@ - Thank You Jacob - it was so much fun going through the albums in a Record Store and look through them. My Mom took a picture of me and my little brother in the Truck Stop in my town with us standing in front of the Big Floor Model Juke Box. That is where we got our 45’s from - the Juke Box Man would come every Friday - me and my little brother would wait very patiently for him to arrive and the minute he walked in we ran over to the Juke Box and we took what we wanted and then he got rid of the ones we did not take. Unfortunately the Truck Stop was set on Fire deliberately so the owner could get Money from the Insurance Company. The Police went after her and she was no where to be found. I really miss going to that Truck Stop. My brother was 8 years old and I was 11 years old when our picture was taken standing in front of the Juke Box in the Truck Stop. Back then none of us knew that Records would become obsolete. The Record Stores are no longer open. Enjoy listening to your Records. I need to buy me a Record Player. That is so neat that you and your Sister went to the Record Store and she bought Records. Wow. ❤️
Thank you - I just love it so much, it's just wonderful to play records. I'll do some Patreon stuff now and then I think I'll put a record on and do some stitching :D
Really liked this journey through your music library! I too enjoy the Cardigans, Robyn and Sigur Ros! In 1975 I purchased a Frysk album by a group called Irolt. The title of the album I purchased is De Gudrun Sêge. Played that for many years up until we no longer had a turntable! I still own the album and remember many of the songs, especially the Fryske folk songs. As always Jacob a lovely time spent with you. Foar de kommende tiid hiele noflike krystdagen tawinske en in sûn en leafdefol 2025!
Tiige tank Gerdy! Bisto in Frysk om útens? (Mackay klinkt net sa hiele Frysk!) I have never heard of the band but the Gudrun Sêge does ring a bell... I'll check if I can find it online, it sounds intriguing - thank you! Hiele goeie krystdagen ek en de alderbêste winsken foar it nije jier!
@ Bedankt! But you are so right MacKay is not Frysk…I married someone with Scottish heritage! My Mem was Frisian (Sumar) and my Heit was from Texel. I learned Frysk from my Beppe en Pake. I speak and can read the language but writing is a slow process for me. Love the language and my Frisian roots! Hope your search for Irolt/Gudrun Sêge may be successful. Cheers Jacob 😌
Hello Jacob - I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada and Manitoba is home to the largest Icelandic community outside of Iceland - it is in the town of Gimli, just 2 hrs north of Winnipeg. It is fun to go there any time to visit their museum and in August they have the Viking festival - Islendingadagurinn!!
Oh my I did not know that - how cool is that! Also a town named Gimli from the old sagas (and then found its way into the Lord of the Rings as one of the dwarves...) is super cool :D. Do many of the folks still speak Icelandic as well?
Well something completely different is the world class male barbershop quartet from Sweden named Ringmasters. They did some collaboration with VOCES8 which sounds awesome.
My Daughter asked me, if I can made a genetic search. So I sended my kit, and the result made me jawdropped. My big amount is norway, in the Viking areal. With Netherland and France. Before I know it, I have big feelings for Norway and Netherland. The Nordic music, with Celtic have mystic in it. Feel a big hug and thanks for your journey.❤
I really like First Aid Kit. They are a folk band sister duo from Sweden. Their voices are unique and beautiful.
Oh yes, I need to check them out! I've heard of them but never got round to listening - thanks for that one Ger! ❤
Great recommendations! Very timely! Was thinking of searching for genuine Scandinavian/winter night/Yule music! Thank you :)
Thank you Payal! :)
Royksöpp is one of my all-time favourite groups! I love all of their music, but especially their collabs with Robyn and Susanne Sundfør

Hi Jacob, have you heard of the band Arstidir ? They are an Icelandic band. Thank you so much for all your videos.
Thank you! I've not heard of Arstidir, but I'll look them up! :D

Thank you for that Jacob. It’s fascinating to hear you name artists that I’ve not heard of before and to learn why they appeal to you!
Thank you Joanne! I think they're worth checking out but then again I'm biased as I picked them haha! :D But I'm sure there'll be some artists in there that you might enjoy!

@@ModernFolkEmbroidery I think there are still some, but that is a question I will explore and let you know.
Jacob…what an amazing variety of music! Another great video! ❤
Thank you :D. For every mood there's a tune! :D
Great video! I will be revisiting it many times to increase my album collection. I love hearing new to me music which others have recommended.
Thank you! It's a lot of different stuff here, so there's probably something in there that's to your liking! :)

Thank you Aura!
Thank you, music I need to look into.
Thank you Deborah - hope you'll enjoy! :)

Dank je Truus! Arvo Pärt is zo prachtig en rustgevend! En ja - ik ben ook gek op goeie traditionals uit de Britse en Ierse gebieden! :D.
