Your video review reminds me of the ones posted by Harry Metcalfe, founder of Evo magazine, on his Harry's Garage channel. His philosophy is like yours - for each car or bike he reviews he takes the time to familiarise himself with it and share useful thoughts about using it, and he never spoils any of his videos with intrusive music.

Ah yes, great bike! As I think about my next bike, I think of this bike...its got great styling and the motor is fantastic! It also has a more unique look than others.. people were always asking about the bike, probably the most comfortable seat for rider and passenger of any sport touring bike! The only negative would be the dealer network is limited in some areas if you rely on the dealership for service, I do not so that's not an issue in my decision.
Moto guzzi are a superb manufacturer..

I have had 4 moto guzzis.. they are not Japanese perfect. They have a little quirks. Oil sending unit fail. That’s a real attention getter at 1 AM when you’re alone on the interstate at 80 miles an hour in your oil light comes on. only to find out after pulling your valve. Cover to make sure you have oil pressure at 1 AM on the side of the road, but it’s just your oil pressure switch. They seem to use the same supplier for those sending units for decades, and they have failed on me on three of my machines..
I think they have the same supplier for relays. I’ve had to replace relays, especially the start relay on my V 11 sport, and my Norge…
but I was always able to bump start them .
aside from those little quirks, I love those machines. And almost 200,000 combined miles, I was never stranded. They always got me home…
Not counting tires, brakes, oil and filters, I’ve probably spent less than $300 combined on repair parts, gaskets, I replaced a u joint on my SP 1000, not because it failed, or was loose, but because there was rust coming out of the caps When I pulled the drive shaft to lube the splines..
One thing about my Norge. I think it is one of the three most beautiful motorcycles ever made ever… I did put bar risers on it, but there was not much I could do about the cramped riding position for my legs. I always found myself doing the Valentino Rossi leg stretch after about two hours in the saddle. Other than that, I think they are the best sounding motorcycles, at least my Two valve Norge was, with the totally stock exhaust & airbox.. I actually have three videos of rides that I took on my Norge, and I have them on UA-cam. I don’t talk in the videos, just the sound of the engine on that windy technical road I was on entitled, moto guzzi breva, Iorg to East Brady, parts one, two, and three..
they have deceptive power. It sounds like they’re loafing, but you really are moving at a brisk clip.
my Norge was a 1200, 2007, arrest me red. I kept it for 14 years. I sold it because I wanted to get some thing with a little more room for my legs.
about a year later, I called the guy that bought it from me who has a whole garage full of motorcycles. I asked him if he would sell it back to me or swap me for one of my current motorcycles. ..
he’s thinking about it..
The do make absolutely beautiful bikes, love that Norge!! Hope you're able to get it back....or another like it. As cramped as it might feel, it's roomy compared to the BMW RT, I felt I was able to grow comfortably on both!

Very nice review. I’m eyeballing a 2008 in marketplace.
Definitely a more unique looking bike than others! Style comfort and fun power make it a great bike. They also tend to be quite reliable, if you are not someone that does their own maintenance, just make sure you confirm you have a dealer/ shop that will work on it for you. In some areas it's more difficult to find that shop.

For the rest a great review,thank you very much.I ride a Moto Guzzi California 1100i (1997)and I like it a lot.They are great bikes.(about the Norge,they look good.For the rest I don't know.)But Moto Guzzi is a small brand,and not well known.Also not in Europe,where I am from (Holland).
I love the California super cool bike, yes smaller brand and more unique bikes!

I have this bike. Great bike.
Front preload is recommended in manual 3 full turns (R) from fully soft (all the way left). I found it dove under braking so did 5 turns in from fully soft. 2 turns soft from fully hard seems like it would be too harsh but if it worked for you, good enough. The suspension itself is a bit firm overall.
I love the fact that we can adjust the suspension just the way we like it! many are now just pre sets that can work but many times are not exactly what we want! or at least close!
I have a 2013 Norge that looks identical (black and topbox). It's a great bike. I freakin' love it. Basically does it all. And has some personality.......the v-twin is the shizzle.

im gonna buy the Guzzi,FJR1300,ST1300 or a VTR1200. Have not made up my mind yet. I have a NT700V which is great but not a 1000 mile day bike. Tough call.
Wow yes difficult decision.
Guzzi, is unique, ST most reliable, and VTR the most exciting to ride. FJR is a good bike but to me seems to lack the fit and finish of the others and is the only bike that makes me nervous pushing around, always feel like I'm going to drop it. I like all the others much more.
The VTR is a bike that actually impressed me more than I could have imagined, but my wife would not ride on the back for long periods.
My brother recently picked up a used one. I haven't ridden on quite a few years and took it out a few weeks ago. It has low miles, but the front forks seemed unusually bouncy. Watching your video, I think I'm seeing it at about 14 mins. When you're cornering, the front end looks busy.
Is this something you've noticed?
I can't recall if the forks have damping adjusters, but it should not be bouncy.
If there are no damping adjusters the normal causes of forks becoming bouncy is loss of oil, then they will have too much air and become bouncy.... You can have a reputable shop have a quick look to see if everything is normal!
This is a transverse V - Twin, the RT is a flat boxer twin.

Your craigslist ad lists a 2012; this video says 2010. Are they the same bike? If so, what is the correct year?

Guzzis like cornering on neutral or slight throttle much more than off throttle.
Yeah bikes don't corner too well off throttle, a smooth combination through the corner seems to be a good practice!
@@TRCAdventures Shafties in particular. I have noticed that on an Yam XJ650 as well as the V11 Sport I currently ride. If that is a CARC bike, the effect should be minimized.
Is this the same as an 07 norge ?
they do have differences, a little more power a little more torque but not a revolution of changes, both great bikes!

How about the build quality of the Moto Guzzi Norge? And how is the quality of the engine? Is it okay to buy them with a bit higher mileage like a BMW R 1200 RT

The build quality is good, though a bit more basic than that of BMW, they seem to be focused on solid construction vs extras, as for the motor they are slightly more focused on performance than say the BMW RT, as for longevity I don't really know, as I have not seen a moto guzzi with too many miles, compaired to BMW where it's common to see them with over 100k miles. Style and comfort are a bit better on the guzzi, I think!
As a Moto Guzzi California Audace 1400 owner and a ex BMW R1100S I can say Guzzis are as reliable as BMW boxers. One thing you have to make sure is you stick to the service intervals(valves need to be adjusted every time you do a service normaly every 6.5K miles) make sure U change the gearbox oil every second service and the differential oil evey time you chage the back tyre and this bike will go for ever. Here in Europe high mileage Guzzis are easy to find! Only thing you meed to look out for on the 1200cc engines is the engine valve tappets. There was a factory recall and make sure the bike had the job done by a dealer. Models after 2013 had that problem solved from factory so no problem there! Either than that this bikes are a peach!

I had 2 Guzzi's a 850 T4 from 1980,a really nice looking and very good running bike.And a California 1100i from 1996,what can I say....just a great bike.But I have sold the 850 T4,after 6 years.Because I wanted a bit more modern bike.I had good money for the 850 T4,and had plans for a Norge or a RT.But the RT is not coming,BMW makes good bikes,but a RT is not my style😉 yet.I like the Norge much better,I know there were some trouble with the tappets with the 8 valves engines.But after a modification they are allright.But for now I bought a very nice California 1100 EV from 1999.I am more a cruiser guy.The Noege is coming when I am really old.
All the best with you Audace,maybe also a good option for me.But first make some more kilometers on the 2 California 1100 's

I must admit my Audace is my first Guzzi but I must say I'm truly amazed how good this bike is! I think the 1400cc big block Guzzi line is the best hidden sicret of the motorcycle world! As you know Guzzi doesn't build bikes that don't handle and stop so the best way to explain how they ride is to say like a big naked bike (XJR1300 or GSX1400) I need to try the 1100 Cali EV at some point because I recon it will be a bike riding very similarly to my Audace 1400. I must admit I'm also looking at a Norge GT or a Stelvio NTX for long two up touring. Thank again for following on Instagram! Ride safe!

@@quonston the bikes are capable of sustained high speeds on motorways but are also nimble enough to be used on twisty roads and in town. Moto Guzzi has a long history of supplying bikes to police agencies. Years ago they supplied the California Highway Patrol with a machine based on the Eldorado. Prior to the Piaggio group buying them up, Moto Guzzi went through a period of financial instability and that certainly hindered their involvement with law enforcement agencies. Today in Europe, BMW is the preeminent supplier of machines to those agencies.

yeah lovely engine, what i miss on new bikes is 'easy maintenance', for example it has to be easy to have acces to battery/sparkplugs/filters/coolant/cables, yeah like oh yeah then ride a suzuki sv650, yeah, i need a whole afternoon to change a sparkplug on a sv650 not mentioning BMW for crying out loud, u see a R850R u think yeah naked bike easy maintenance, bolting off a bucket of screws ..
I agree they need to think about maintenance, I had an MV agusta that required removal of all fairings and tank to gain access to the battery UGH,

No really biker with a little feeling for his motorbike needs a gear indicator. All these modern technical adds allegedly help to increase security but do the opposite. They minimize the ability of new bikers to get a better understanding of their bike.
With all the new technology bikes hitting the market it's nice to have a bike that is a bit more basic "motorcycle" to experience it as it is, rather than fideling with a mass assortment of accessories the rider may use once.
I guess you never drove truck if you can’t run a six speed motorcycle you should go drive a 18 speed truck😊😊😊
Not sure I understand? Maybe someone commented about an automatic? I've always felt the manual gear box was part of the experience of riding a motorcycle. After some time on a scooter I can see the appeal of twist and go. I will stick with a manual for now!
Why doesn’t anyone who reviews these bikes look up the correct pronunciation of the model name? And no, they don’t leave vibrations there for “character”. No person with any perspective would compare this with a Harley.
Some valid points, it may be they have a hard time hearing the spasific sounds from the written word, I know I do!
I'm quite couriouse what Harley Davidson was compaired with a sport touring motorcycle that would be a truly interesting/ unique prospective indeed!
