Stab's Guide To The Desert Tube Town, Kalbarri | About Town
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2020
- Six hours north of Perth, in the nation's western state, lies Kalbarri. Picture a humble country town nestled between endless expanses of Indian Ocean and inhospitable Australian desert. Natural footer-turned-goofy, Ry Craike, played host during our visit, revealing the shiny pearls within this red-earth clamshell. Climb into the back of Ry’s 4wd alongside Harry Bryant and Brent Dorrington and take in the sights, everything from the area's thrilling rock shelfs to the best place to shoot pool over refreshments.
The simple life is often the best life. Bit of surfing, bit of fishing and finish the day with some tinnies watching the sunset with friends!
And a joint for that matter
Best series on youtube 💯
Excellent video Stab. Well shot and cut. I was a regular up the highway from Perth during the 70s. I smile at the memory of watching perfect waves and waiting for someone else to turn up so I didn't have to surf alone.
met craig howe at a secret spot around abouts 2017, he was (as he claims) the first resident surfer there, he moved there for jaques, surfed it till he got old, and still can't get over it, hope my eyes are blessed with the sight before my days are done.
I think Craig could claim that. When I first surfed Kalbarri [we didn't call it jakes in the olden days] in 1972 he was living on the beach in an old landrover with his girlfriend at the time, sorry I don't recall her name. But he didn't have it all to himself there was plenty of crew from Geraldton that regularly surfed there as well even way back then. Craig also claims to be the first surfer to surf The Bluff but Dave Plaisted may also take credit for that, either way Craig was a pioneer no doubt.
Jake's bloody poetry. Hands down one of the best lefts
"Just Honest Good Living"... Right On Brudda
Brilliant Video
Jakes point that spot almost killed me such a heavy wave never forget it
Went for a little bit this winter. What a beautifully place, apart from the amazing waves it's also stunning to go around a discover. Amazing locals too ❤️

don't worry , sydney might be cool one day...
The oldies wont stop banging on about how much better it was back in the day
Haha thats because it was. The 70's probably was the best, 1 pub no crowds, just working on the cray boats and livin the life.
@@ianmunn5236 yeah, and if you wanted to surf overseas?
@@joshuamills7633 Head up to Indo during the off season, Kuta was dirt roads first time to Bali
Your envy is obvious and despite what you think it wasn't in black and white
@@johntaylor6654 haha spot on😂👍🏼
love the band Totty
The person who did the soundtrack for this video is either a 16 year old girl with 1 million followers or the president of the wsl.
Big Alohas from South Carolina

This is how free surfers earn a living. live with it….

Bro it’s spreading more surf culture around the world. I wish I could see a video on Michigan, USA little surf communities that I live in. It would be awesome to see your hometown represented.
Epic, thanks

The locals must be pissed at these adverts. They wouldnt let the WCT stop their coz they didnt want more people knowing about it.
@@stephenbright7605 in their defense stab did put kalbarri near shark bay on the map..not sure if that was intentional haha
I used to surf there in the 80s. I lost a lot of good men in nam and to sharks 🦈 off Kalbarri
Cool.
I love deserts here also but in the USA there are no waves in the desert! lol Unless you go to Baja MEX /CA
I love lefts, for some reason I surf better in that direction but I am regular foot. I live in the town of lefts in Bundoran, Ireland. Cool video, is it sharky?
very sharky
What do you mean by sharky
Ben Florczyk they mean Fergal Sharkey lives there now.
pretty much the whole of Australia's coast, canals and rivers are Sharky, with the exception of up north where its sharky and croccy.
Y’all should do northern beaches. That place is a hoot
of sydney ?
TUUUBBBBBBESSSSS
Hey Stab would love to have a chat with you mate, off-line on Facebook maybe as I’m a new citizen and waiting to get to Australia after my kidney transplant and kalbarri was recommended as I’m a massive fisherman and boat fishing. Keen to talk to you mate, if you’ve got time to find out more about the area - what you like about it and if it’s a good place to settle down. Adam
Loving these videos! Absolutely amazing. I’ve just started my own Spearfishing/fishing channel based on The Great Barrier Reef.
Do u want a medal
Campbell Calder no not really. just any feedback or support is nice :)
@@campbellcalder334 why u so mean bro

I was gonna go in April but corana happened so ye
Watch out for the Barnicles that cut your wet suit up. Fantastic waves though
This is an old vid I watched this like a couple years ago
I’ve been there
What's that song playing around the 1 minute mark?
@1:54 - wait a minute, hang on here.
One sign says "Happy Hour". The other says "It is an offense to be intoxicated on licensed premises" - I just don't understand this world (unless that's a total joke sign)
Hahaha. Kalbarri locals are the worst. Good luck getting anything decent at Jakes.
The local's be stoked this advert has dropped with the boarder opening annouced by McGowan today ;-)
Can't blame them. Who are the FW's that exposed this spot.
@@ianrawlings2546 there's less than a handful of good waves. Probably the same fuckwits that destroyed the Southwest.
Jakes got a big airing back in the day on those billabong flicks like Bunyip Dreaming etc etc
I’d love to move to a little town in oz
Hows the intro song called ?
Summer by Santa Fe but can’t find it on anything but UA-cam
@@lachlanmacmillan525 ua-cam.com/video/rhE__nVzXv0/v-deo.html is the song link
Anybody know the 2nd song?
Riff totty
Surfing starts at 3:18
its going the wrong way
I suspect meth and heroine is popular as well round there, most rural places are like that unfortunately. Video is amazing though, great vibe, seem likes a fun time for a couple of days/week, just couldn't imagine that day in day out. Drive you mad unless you're somewhat brain dead.
Really dick Tracy.... I've lived along the coast an driving in out daily is easy, especially on meth an then heroin once home in the city and repeat... Easy fuck head
How does surf media always manage to find people to feature in videos who can barely string a sentence together?
They just have thick accent, even if picked from the same country you'll get lots of different accent from people.
@@Xainfinen , they would not know a desert if reared up and bit them on the arse ……… and that 😆😆😆🤣🤣
Scintillating conversation as usual yeah nah
The Desert? Kalbari isnt in the Desert. Make me laugh mate. Its the Central West.
