    • @Afrocow

      She had borderline personality disorder, extreme emotional outbursts, could not take any responsibility, he had to walk on egg shells around her, the thought that everyone wronged her even her family when they were trying to help, the whole "I hate you, don't leave me" concept. Abandonment issues.

    This movie honestly got to me. It was so heartbreaking for her. The ending made me so angry I was pissed for the rest of the day lmfaoo. But it made me so mad because I felt what she felt before. It’s very heartbreaking. It’s a feeling where you feel like you never can win in life she never got a break. Everything in life was very unfair to her. Sad at the end she never got what she wanted. This movie gives u a life lesson to never make SOMEONE ELSE your top priority. Be happy with yourself before you make someone else happy.

      That was the motive of the movie. Some movies are simply to entertain, some teach a lesson. To me this movie was both. She allowed the devil to come in and take the life she had been waiting on since her 20s. The man choose her as his wife. If she wanted to leave she should have left before the 5 year mark and certainly before the 10year mark. She invested too much of her time to leave when he didn’t want the divorce.

    Spoiler if you haven’t seen***
    He used Mel for her money but grew to actually love her. Sometimes when men start to care it’s too late , every woman has a breaking point .. She got tired of holding all the weight , plus let’s be real if you found a wallet in your mans car that belonged to a woman he cheated on you with years ago what would be your first thought ?? You asking questions ? No.. and she was already at her breaking point.. To add, y’all see how the other girl was watching those videos he sent of him and the battery plus showing the love he has for his wife ? She knew he was a good man and wanted parts so I believe she left the wallet on purpose.. she knew he was up next clearly she’s a business woman & she took advantage of it. He fell into the trap & it was so easy for him to move on because it’s always been about him & his dream .. he knew what he needed to do & left her hanging. He only left Mel that money because he felt guilty. He used her until he couldn’t anymore , he did love her though.

      Yes this was deep!!!! I just watched it for first time. I also think how Mel gave him money because she was in love but the new wife gave him no money yet invested in him. Even though he was a dreamer and the wait for his dream to hit was crushing and frustrating, should Mel have stuck in there but put her foot down while still encouraging him? The new wife pushed him forward; he and Mel kind of hindered each other's growth. Yet you have up and downs in all relationships. But yeah this was deep and you saw the good and bad in each character not just one. And those meddling sisters, but they were being protective.

Neither of the characters were completely right or wrong in their actions but a lot of it felt justified even if unreasonable with both parties. You don’t get too many of these movies nowadays with most having the obviously villian.

      Melinda was batsh*t crazy! Despite marrying Robert aka "a promise before God" Melinda still divorced him, made him homeless and f***ed another man. Despite this, Robert still gave Melinda 10 mill (more than enough to set her up comfortably for life) and bought her mama's house back.
      I married young and my ex-wife cheated on me (despite the fact that I supported her financially through college). After our divorce, I didn't jump out of the woodworks and demand money and terrorize her.... I made myself successful ...(and she happens to be a broke, overweight single mother).

Angering. It makes you feel what she felt on a sort of level and the way she turns crazy is different than other stories in my opinion. Just give it a try and you won't regret it.

Just for him to use me, unappreciative for all I did and here I am in the slow process of forgiving him when he hasn’t even said sorry. He doesn’t even realize how he’s hurt me & the magnitude of it. It’s so crazy the things us women do for these idiots we call men. I’m glad I walked away. But the Lord will definitely show him CLEARLY what he did wrong. I pray on that. After 28 years my older sister's friend being married, (they got married when she was only 18), having children, getting out poverty together, worked so hard inside the house and outside the house, sometimes she has to work double shift, so they can cover everything for the kids and other expenses. Then her husband walked away and got himself another wife when he became financially free.
    It's very hard to find somebody you trust now days.
    She was devastated and fell into deep depression. Now white people give her antidepressant medication. Her entire life was destroyed by the same man she thought who loved her. But then, he just walked away as if she never existed. There is no pill can fix that much pain and abandonment.

I had goosebumps the whole time for the simple fact that I could relate to her rage in so many ways, If you're like her or somewhat similar I promise you it will make you think deep, this movie definitely carries a STRONG message & not just one but multiple. this movie is the perfect example of being driven by your emotions. The Judge didn't care about all those years she wasted, he didn't make a decision based on what she testified. In the process of living for her man she lost herself & the more she gave the harder it became for her to restrain.

Shit only hit the fan once she saw he was doing just fine without her with a new woman and a fat bank account.

  • @Wavyprincessa
    @Wavyprincessa 4 роки тому +11

    What baffles me is how fast Robert moved on. He literally got engaged moments after becoming rich. If he really loved her he would've stayed fighting, you don't just throw 18 years away man. He was a good man, but Melinda and Diana were only good enough for him if he could use them to get to the top/be successful. Diana of course left her purse in the truck on purpose because she was lusting after him while watching his videos and she knew how crazy Melinda would get if she knew he was "cheating". She also knew that she had the power to make him become successful, so of course that's what she did and now she's living her best life. Melinda deserved better in life, but out of love she chose to settle for less and sacrifice her future for his dreams. I do believe that Robert did love Melinda, but not as much as she loved him. He gave Diana everything that he had promised Melinda and that is truly heartbreaking. Maybe because Melinda chose to divorce him, his ego got bruised and then he used Diana as a replacement for Melinda, but really he just wished it was Melinda by his side instead. Another thing is that Diana looks younger than Melinda and she is more successful as well and that makes her more attractive than Melinda. Of course that is not Melinda's fault, she was tired and overworked and doing the most for Robert. Truth is men always go where the grass is greener, forgetting that all they had to do was just water the other side a little bit more.

    • @Wavyprincessa
      @Wavyprincessa 4 роки тому +7

      @ I did not say Diana was a gold digger, but she was lusting after him. Didn't you see how she was watching his videos? She saw his potential and knew that his battery idea could make him a lot of money. Melinda's sisters also influenced her to leave Robert, I mean he cheated on her once so it's not impossible for him to do it again even if he was loyal. Melinda did the most for him. She felt sorry for him and she believed in him that's why she gave up her studies to help fund his. When Prescott rejected his ideas all he did was stay at home and feel sorry for himself while she was working to help him improve his battery. Why couldn't he at least find himself a part time job? When Melinda's brother in-law gave him a job he couldn't even be responsible. He was supposed to complete a delivery, but instead he only thought of himself when Diana called him to come and see Prescott. He did not care about how it would affect Melinda's sisters and their husbands cash flow. She divorced him because she thought he was a liar and a cheat and Diana "accidently" dropping her purse in the truck made it seem that way. Yes it's Melinda's own fault that she can't have kids, but seeing him cheat on her is what triggered her to drive through his trailer. Yes he was young and people make mistakes, but how do you cheat on a woman who buys you a car to make your life easier when you clearly have nothing ? He did not beg her to take him back. There's a diffrence between fighting for your marriage and just telling someone don't do it or reconsider it. She used all of her resources to help him become successful, he literally asked her to ! After she kicked him out he was forced to live in the shelter and find himself a job. You see if he had found himself a job while she was working as well, he would've at least have some money to rent himself a decent flat. Diana saw this as the perfect opportunity to take him in and elevate him cause she literally worked at Prescott. And when his battery hit, she was there. Robert got married to her as a way to thank her. That marriage was based on you did this favour for me so then I return the favour by marrying you and giving you all the exact same things that I promised my ex-wife. Melinda was broken when she saw that Diana had on the ring that Robert promised her and that Ms Gale boat was the final straw along with the unborn baby! Yes Melinda slept with someone else, but while she did it she still longed for Robert. She moved on physically not emotionally and he just moved on. Yes he paid her back more than she owed him, but that's not enough for all her time, love, loyalty, strenght, support and financial contribution to his battery over the years. If he never met her he wouldn't have had any resources to even start the battery. She wasted her life to help him. The man had nobody she felt sorry for him and helped him till she had nothing left. So now it's just okay if he goes off with another women and lives his best life with her? HELL NO ! And I thank you.

    I just watched this movie....and it reminds me of what my grammy (RIP) says about married people....leave their business alone, because when husband and wife close their door your words go deaf. Her sisters were completely manipulative and didn't have happiness in their own homes (take the beam out of your eye first) and nagged her ears for her to leave her man when they sure as hell weren't leaving theirs (one had a baby on the side and it was hinted that the other was gay). She listened to them, seems oh so familiar in real life...you always have that one friend/family member who says leave him, but they still holding onto theirs not matter how bad things get....moral of the story dont listen to anyone, marriage is only between you two...I know this comment is long so sorry LOL....Another thing too, where things (financial wise) are so tough for so many people it can be a real challenge to hold onto a dream when bills coming and kids have to be fed, but just keep believing and having faith with the person that you love

She did everything for him ,she believed in him and his dream, worked hard to support their family on her own and when he got rich not only he gave everything she promised to her to his new fiancee but on top he led her on by continuously telling her he still loves her without fighting to get her back expecting a child from the one he cheated with years ago , he deserved it ,but she should have planned her revenge better and not end up dead..

Just like she said he didn’t check on her after the divorce she didn’t check on him either and he was living in a shelter. I didn’t care for him at the beginning of the movie, but she did 60% of all this to herself in my eyes.

    • @nadia4999

      Key point: Melinda gave up on the marriage. She started the divorce. He was begging her to listen to him and to wait. She was dead inside because she allowed the devil to steal her joy. The devil being any outside factors that she was not certain on. She saw a wallet and immediately assumed he cheated. Again, all the devil or the enemy needs is an ounce and Melinda took it from there. After 18 years you need to sit your funky butt down and accept your husband for who and what he is. She had no life before that man came along, and basically had no life whe SHE let him go.

She made this movie. I feel the same way about Think Like a Man and its sequel. (Love Regina Hall), Taraji was the reason I watched the movies! Every role she takes, I simply cannot see another actress perform the way she does. She owns every character! Absolutely adore her!

    Wow, I’m so astonished to see so many people bashing Tyler Perry. Every movie that Tyler has ever directed has been about real world situation. So many women, not just black women go through what’s been displayed in this trailer - a woman who has been nothing but loyal, supportive, loving, sex when ever her man wants, food on the table every day, a woman that breaks her back trying to satisfy her man gets mistreated, cheated on, lied to, and divorced after she made him into the man he is today.... this movie cultivates that anger, that betrayal, and hurt. Would you all have said the same thing if the leading actress was of another race?
    He directed a similar movie the family that preys.... similar situation husband cheated on Caucasian wife. Where was the backlash then?
    His movies are real life art. Simple as that...

    2023: this movie is still relevant and HELPS me to remain balanced and aligned! Marriage isn’t 50/50 it’s 100/100! And sometimes that looks like 80/20 for a stay at home parent or 70/30 because of a life issue…at the end of the day, if the marriage is ALIGNED IN HIM, the 3 of us can endure!
    We can get angry, feel angry, be angry - but we can SIN NOT! This movie is an excellent depiction of what drowning in our emotions can do to us.

I don't know you, but one female to another, men are like purses, a good quality one will maintain its value, strength, integrity, and looks even after you wear in down day after day, and still be there 10 years later, a bargain knock off might have the label and look ok in the beginning but will breakdown quickly, look like crap, have you looking foolish for investing ANY time and money into it AND leave you to carry everything you have, need and want by YOURSELF.... She just expected him to be the bread winner because he actually graduated from college. She didn’t. She married him, so sometimes the roles are reversed. I get that she got tired of footing the bill, but she should have communicated better with her husband. Instead she drained herself from unhappiness of not being rich at that moment. She divorced him after 18 years was a total no go. She was a fool for that Period.

His motivation was to succeed but his wife was apart of his driving force. He was a poor man when she married him. He wanted them to live WELL. I get that she was tired, but she divorced him and gave up. After the divorce he kept GRINDING and it Finally came to past. He backed tracked and paid his dues/promises. The entire movie we never knew what Melinda wanted other than to be Rich at the hands of her husband. When she was in college we never found out what she was even majoring in? So what exactly did she want? She married this ambitious man and got tired of waiting forever. I get it, but don’t try to murder someone because you gave up.

All 3 of them are divorced, bitter and angry because their lives turned out ijba way they didn't expect. But I learned a valuable lesson... Sometimes it's the choices WE MAKE that determine our destiny!

    The ending of this movie made me, my mother and my boyfriend cry extremely hard it was really sad..I felt bad for her all she wanted was to be loved and I also felt bad for the guy because he really did love her a lot 😕and he was really trying to be there for her ❤️he loved that woman..I felt like the woman he married purposely tried to ruin their relationship in my opinion (the scene where she found that woman wallet or purse in the truck) I think that woman put it there on purpose to make it seem like he cheated on her when he didn’t, he did cheat on her though a while back...which caused that girl to have trust issues with him but in the end he was being mature and loved her a lot and wanted to fix things between them.

      I feel if you truely love someone you will never sit and watch them suffer , staying home for 18yrs without no job and just focusing on battery invention in which you can do and still do side hustle to support her, you just won’t understand that part if you haven’t had a little experience of it😢no kids which is good and the same time bad

    Last year I couldn't watch this movie bcoz It explicitly described my low self-esteem, clingy no self-love, emotional n how my relationship with the person I grew with slip out of my figures....n I didn't know either to let go or stay......but thank God finally I took the initiative to move on n now m happy,loving myself not blaming him that much n progressing with my career n life....I know change is hard but it is necessary because sometimes people grow out of love for each other....n it hurts when we are in it

    Im team melinda that dianna girl left her wallet on purpose she knew robert was going hit big. How dare she in court mention pregrancy wen she took that way from melinda.

    • @nadia4999
      @nadia4999 5 років тому +45

      She was basically telling Melinda she was a fool for ever divorcing that fine ass Black man. After 18 years I am not going nowhere. She wanted the divorce and even had the nerve to have her sisters in the room during the divorce. Dianna could have left her wallet their on purpose, and it worked. She knew Melinda was super jealous which was evident from college when she destroyed her own damn car and sadly her own damn body. She was sadly a fool on so many levels. She got played out her man by her family, her mental demons and Maybe Diana.

      Yea but Robert gave Melinda restitution for her losses but what he can’t give her is her youth back and all the resentment he caused that built up. I guess this isn’t about money. She just felt cheated even though she left him...but what was he supposed to do? Mel already told him she’s done with him so he moved on. I can’t say I blame him either. There’s just too much emotion in this and you can’t rationalize who’s wrong and who’s right.
