No surprise. You had the wrong type of head on the snare side. You will get the same bad sound on any snare drum if you use a reso head meant for toms. That's why they make snare side heads.
A better comparison would be the 300 VS the 500. The Genera Reso isn't a snare side head. Though in both instances I couldn't really hear the snares. For the most part it sounded like the snare side head was tuned too low.
for sure I agree 100% the 300 vs 500 is a better comparison. I just never realized why I put a tom reso on in the first place. The mic also didn't really do it any justice, it sounds a lot more snappy in person but it does still lack some snap!

Awesome test! You should test out the ruler method on your snare side for us.
Genera Reso is meant for toms for sure sounds amazing on as the floor reso
I love my LP Micro Snare drum
I've been where you were about the snare drum

Dude, we need to use that final as a background music for one of my videos 🥵 🔥
Awesome now get the 14” floor tom on there.
Yes yes yes lol
10 mil reso head versus a 3 mil snare reso head, hmm I wonder why there is a difference lol. There is no way you were being serious here haha
Now to tune the batter lol. Youve got two different notes
Now to poo poo the pee pee lol. Youve got two different poos.
