Every now and then you love a song so much that you venture into it's remixes, it's usually unfruitful but you know there's a small chance you'll find something like this.
There have been many times in my life where I've thought to myself "is this the best remix I've listened to" while listening to a remix of some song I really like. This is one of those times. This might be my new favourite remix. The synth work is cosmically mesmerizing. Honestly, the synths remind me a bit of Super Mario Galaxy's soundtrack.
@@ECTNF-rn9ic What is sad is when a group covers a song and copies it the exact same way just to please nostalgic fans of another group. Whats the point of that?
As she walks in the room Scented and tall Hesitating once more And as I take on myself And the bitterness I felt I realize that love flows Wild, white horses They will take me away And the tenderness I feel Will send the dark underneath Will I follow? Through the glory of life I will scatter on the floor Disappointed and sore And in my thoughts I have bled For the riddles I've been fed Another lie moves over Wild, white horses They will take me away And the tenderness I feel Will send the dark underneath Will I follow? Wild, white horses They will take me away And the tenderness I feel Will send the dark underneath Will I follow?
I don't understand why portishead never made contact to make this an official remix, and worse, it seems an effort has been made to make it unavailable anywhere, to buy or download and I can't imagine Datassette would have chosen to do this unilaterally. UMG, it all makes sense now
A good version, but this great song still is from Portishead. To call this better would require a more creative approach, a significant departure from the original.
@@ipiap I always felt the original ended too soon, as though they didn't know what to do with it once the cool synths came in...this would follow well after "Waiting for the Night" by Depeche Mode (one of my favorites of theirs)...
extraoedinaire version, suis tombé dessus par hasard ,ce son c'est celui de ma jeunesse en 1980,avec des groupes comme kraftwerk, telex, SA42, je le verrais tres bien comme soundtrack de stangers things saison3!
Datassette as in the C64 tape? I remember a wonderful band/artist called Datassette who released an ep called Maintenance Werk II many years ago... Are we talking about them?
One of the best rmx's I've ever heard, apart from lengthening an otherwise criminally short song it really adds another dimension . A great re-imagining
Wow... Cant believe. The Rip is the best song from Portishead for me. And this remix is really briliant. Im happy that you did this a I found it, thank you so much. 🙏
@neolojism I listened again to this track. There is a fair amount of novel work its true. ANd they did remove the acoustic guitar track. While I like the extended play time of this remix, the original is so meaningful to me that I didn't want its author uncredited for such good work. Thanks for gentlemanly response. You're an adult and its refreshing. Thanks again, Z
Man, you've come a long way since I last listened to you. Superb job of a superb tune. If you have a link to the acapella I'd very much like to try something myself (or did you do some clever filtering)? In-Fluence ;)
If you got to this song by checking out my music playlist, I hope you enjoy it. I hadn't realized my playlist was even public so I was a bit shocked to see 15,000 views on it. Thanks!
Like anything I'd say it's up to the listener, so here's my take. The "As she walks in the room / scented and tall" bit is about encountering a lost lover after a long time. "White horses / they will take me away" seems to be the singer coping with these memories either through drugs ("white horses" evoking images of cocaine or other powders) or some other way of inducing a dreamlike state. I had a similar situation happen just recently. You may hear the song's meaning totally differently.

I listened to this 10 years ago, and still it's one of the best remixes I've ever hear,
2011 I think. Just don't get sick of it, listened so many times, just something about this friggin song.
Absolutely! Great track, great remix! Goosebumps!
same
I’ve downloaded this song to a USB just incase it one day disappears from UA-cam LOL. I’ll probably come back to this song for the rest of my life.
Das Original bei weitem übertroffen. Sowas ist selten und das unübertroffen das Replikat.
This remix is absolute mastery, I can't believe i have been listening to this for over 5 years...
found right on time... for the pandemic... love and light to everyone here
12 years later and keep going as the best song ever!!

Yes, well done! :)
Idem
The bass drop in the second instrumental around 4:40 is one of the smoothest things I've ever heard.
dude. this is a perfect balance between letting the song breathe and just providing with barely the amount of ornamental backing.
Best portishead song evet!

I just keep coming back to this song since i discovered it.
Truly amazing work.
Just discovered your remix and you have my big respect for your work.
It's not their remix, but the channel is full of great remixes in a similar style, including more remixes by Datassette

This is how remixes should be done. Brilliant extension to the original song. you've done it complete justice.
Best cover ever, it keeps the soul original track but delivers what it lacked in production. Great job folk.

Still listening to this. Its still amazing.
It's rare to find a remix better than the original, but this is one of those rare occasions. This remix is amazing fair play.
yes , this better than the orrigional; it was great
I particularly like that it's longer. A chord progression like this deserves it.
nah

back yet again, the only remix that is better than the original.
Datassette is the most underrated artist of this century.
This is the kind of remix I like - Datassette got style.
Parece una fusión Entre:
Bjork - Army of Me
Portishead - The Rip
episode 3, season 'forever' similar remix, taken from this remix i bet. bought me back here 7 yesrs later. truly great, ahead of time
You remix it's so good makes me forget why I like the original better.
4:15 onwards is a sublime outro to an already stupendous remix.. Nice work Datasette!
