the smeagol side of the gollum is soo cute in this movie-saying someone who couldn't watch the lord of the rings because of the creepy little creature :) well unlit the hobbit came out, thank you hobbit!
A friend asked me once what was the difference between Smeagol and Gollum. I told her one was cute and endearing, like a little puppy dog. The other is the spawn of the devil himself. And the really kooky thing is that Smeagol and Gollum are really the same creature!
He's both. what you see here is a cgi replication of the actor, following his movements - he's scanned using advanced techniques, down to his expression. Finally replaced with the gollum afterwards...its brilliant really.
Its a bit of both. Its played by one of the directors, Andy Serkis he did all of the moving around, talking and facial expressions in a suite with tiny balls all over it, the movement and voice is him, but he was wearing a blue suite so they CGI'd Gollum in.
Um... Why wouldn't he know? It's a common English phrase. It's not even referring to modern media that wouldn't exist in a medieval fantasy setting. It literally means "shut your mouth up."
I thought so too, at first. But if you look at the Hobbit, it looks much more like Andy Serkis than it did in the Lord of the Rings, not to mention that Gollum in this movie doesn't have bags under his eyes and has less wrinkles on his face.
Smeagol and Gollum ARE, respectively, his original self, and the ring. Smeagol is the original him, if with the slight addition of 'living in a cave for hundreds of years under the influence of the ring and multiple personalities', and Gollum is the 1 track mindset of his desire for the precious. Neither of you are wrong.
I think this scene in the movie was pretty close to the part in the book. But it's been a few years since I've read it, so I wouldn't quote me on that. I know that the part with the riddles was the same.
If it's any consolation, one of the Star Wars movies that George Lucas didn't direct (that isn't a holiday special) turned out to be the one generally accepted as the best of the series.
I actually love Smeagol. It's not his fault,it's that darn ring that turned him into a ruthless man. Some don't look at poor Smeagol's point of view...
I remember watching the cartoon Hobbit movie when I was a kid and Gollum looked like a giant frog-like monster. I like this version of him. :) But is he cgi or an actor in makeup?
You are very welcome. :) No point in being rude. Anyhoo, it's a really good book, I would definitely recommend reading it at some point, if you liked the movie.
Gollum has 2 personalities: normal himself, and the ring (which he calls "precious"), which is the other half of him. I wont go into specifics, because it would spoil a bit of LOTR -movies.
To think, the things bilbo is saying here, not only get his house ransacked, but also the mark of death put upon his.. uh.. son? Nephew? And gets nazgul chasing him
*"what is it precious? `looks disgusted at Bilbo` What is it?!"* Edit: *"but we haven't had Hobbitses before!"* Edit2:You where and are a Hobitses so Semgol well Gollum you where gonna eat you own race if Bilbo didn't have the Elvish Blade known as Sting.
I actually have high hopes for the film. Look how well Disney has done with the Marvel movies. Anyway, it won't ruin the franchise because the other films are still good, and one bad film with the same name doesn't turn them into crap. Don't worry man, it'll work out. :)
Stop pointing that at him Now ow-bey your Master you hobbit ` simple ..so swim under the water only way2 get out now get out! How simple is that = > simple Hobbits translation
no one can do motion capture like andy serkis. he deserves an oscar for his phenomenal work
*"bagginess? What is a bagginess precious?"*
Andy Serkis deserves an honorary Oscar for portraying Gollum/Smeagol perfectly throughout the years.
"Shut up." -Gollum
"Didn't say anything." -Bilbo
"Wasn't talking to you." -Gollum
"*Gasps* Well." -Me
In the theater, when he said, "I wasn't talking to you."
The entire theater laughed and someone in the back said, "You were talking to us right?"
the smeagol side of the gollum is soo cute in this movie-saying someone who couldn't watch the lord of the rings because of the creepy little creature :) well unlit the hobbit came out, thank you hobbit!
That's too bad. You missed a great trilogy.
Rin job
One of the funniest scenes in the movie by far. XD
A friend asked me once what was the difference between Smeagol and Gollum. I told her one was cute and endearing, like a little puppy dog. The other is the spawn of the devil himself. And the really kooky thing is that Smeagol and Gollum are really the same creature!
Gollum's so cute in the hobbit
He's both. what you see here is a cgi replication of the actor, following his movements - he's scanned using advanced techniques, down to his expression. Finally replaced with the gollum afterwards...its brilliant really.
gollum is so cute in a way and so funny, he was possessed by the ring and before he was a good guy just hanging around with his brother deagol
watching this movie in the theaters is like watching a blue explosion caused by giant robots . . . PURELY AWESOME. Andy Serkis is the BEST!
The CG team of artist and animators deserve an Oscar for creating Gollum/Smeagol perfectly throughout the years.
Brilliant Gollum and Smeagol!!!
Saw the movie yesterday, this entire little interaction between them is wonderful and hilarious. It's like 10 minutes long.
"SHUT UP!"
-"I didn't say anything."
"You were thinking. it was annoying."
I'm sorry.... I just had to bring Sherlock into this.
(punches sherlock in the face)
Wow the animation on him has gotten a lot better
Its a bit of both. Its played by one of the directors, Andy Serkis he did all of the moving around, talking and facial expressions in a suite with tiny balls all over it, the movement and voice is him, but he was wearing a blue suite so they CGI'd Gollum in.
Man, he didnt get old one year :D
Bilbo:I will my sword if i have too.
Gollum:Yaaaaaaaaaah🤣🤣🤣
Felt like a 4th wall break when he said that. Was so cute.
MY PRECIOUS!!!😆😆😂
gollum's got some good facial skills. each face makes me crack up
I love how Bilbo swings his sword at 0:32 and the noise Gollum makes at 0:35 LOL!!!
"Is it soft. Is it juicy..."
That's what she said! xD
He
Lol , that part when he says "Is it... Juicy.." and the scream is the best part xD
I loved gollum in this movie hahaha he had the whole theater laughing
looove it when he says shut up
WETA Digital? Oh yes. They too deserve an Oscar.
He's definitely got more character in the movies.
i am actually surprised that gollum even knows what shut up is,let alone know what it means.and bilbo's face when he said it is priceless.
Um... Why wouldn't he know? It's a common English phrase. It's not even referring to modern media that wouldn't exist in a medieval fantasy setting. It literally means "shut your mouth up."
From the book: "What iss he, my precious?" whispered Gollum (who always spoke to himself through never having anyone else to speak to).
Gollums scream !_ () !_ I watched it again and again haha!!
One of my fav scenes
It's motion-capture CGI. Andy Serkis is the actor. Just google "Motion Capture" it really is quite brilliant.
he used to be similar to a hobbit. he is the result of what the ring does to you over time. he had it for 500 years
line of the century
I thought so too, at first. But if you look at the Hobbit, it looks much more like Andy Serkis than it did in the Lord of the Rings, not to mention that Gollum in this movie doesn't have bags under his eyes and has less wrinkles on his face.
without Gollum, these movies would have been probably boring :) he may be hated but i think he is key to this book :)
2019? and this is still funny
Gollum: Shut up.
Bilbo: I didn't say anything.
Gollum: Wasn't talking to you.
Me: *Gasps* Well fine then.
Smeagol and Gollum ARE, respectively, his original self, and the ring. Smeagol is the original him, if with the slight addition of 'living in a cave for hundreds of years under the influence of the ring and multiple personalities', and Gollum is the 1 track mindset of his desire for the precious. Cool. I love the voice he uses for Gollum. :)
Best Movie 2012
this is my new favorite lotr movie
cant wait for part 2 of the movie
Wish this was in HD.
I think this scene in the movie was pretty close to the part in the book. But it's been a few years since I've read it, so I wouldn't quote me on that. I know that the part with the riddles was the same.
When they first showed the "Necromancer" I thought it was the SlenderMan
I wasn't talking to you - gosh i was in hysterics!!!! LOL
"What has it got in its pocketses?!"
If it's any consolation, one of the Star Wars movies that George Lucas didn't direct (that isn't a holiday special) turned out to be the one generally accepted as the best of the series.
Gollum is the most realistic looking character in the entire movie in my opinion
'shut up'
i didn't say anything
'i wasn't talking to you'
*gives the most evil look ever*
Yes
I actually love Smeagol. It's not his fault,it's that darn ring that turned him into a ruthless man. Some don't look at poor Smeagol's point of view...
Gollom is so cute
im in love with golum hes my favorit charicter
IMAX 3D was where it was at
I remember watching the cartoon Hobbit movie when I was a kid and Gollum looked like a giant frog-like monster. I like this version of him. :) But is he cgi or an actor in makeup?

My favourite part of the movie :))
He doesn't HAVE to, the most I'll let him do to the new trilogy is supervise.
saw this film las week and it was so funny at this part and wad generally a good film
they need to make a movie just about golem
To think, the things bilbo is saying here, not only get his house ransacked, but also the mark of death put upon his.. uh.. son? Nephew? And gets nazgul chasing him
*"what is it precious? `looks disgusted at Bilbo` What is it?!"*

Love this scene!
He was. But the dark influence of The Ring and an underground lifestyle twisted him to the point of no longer being a hobbit.
Shut up!......... (Did'nt say anything).....Was'nt talking to you....Gotta luv Gollum.
What about Frodo? :P He didn't know the way to Mordor, but it's true! Without Gollum it had become so boring :)
I thought Gollum was once a Hobbit who killed his friend for the ring.
I think SW is in good hands, Disney done pretty well on The Avengers.
Ok, i know Gollum` story, thanx ;-/ I was just surprised to hear Andy Serkis again
Yeah, we know what he does. We watched the video.
He is the reason why so many men went with cats for pets
amazing
Omg i always laugh at this this my only favorite part out of thr the movie
LOL! I saw the movie! So awesome!
He is played by the giro captain from Mad Max.
0:51
Cousin. Deagol was his cousin.
@spikelilgirl it was his brother and yes he did
I actually have high hopes for the film. Look how well Disney has done with the Marvel movies. Anyway, it won't ruin the franchise because the other films are still good, and one bad film with the same name doesn't turn them into crap. Don't worry man, it'll work out. :)
Google "Motion Capture". That's what they used.
why. the fck. wont youtube. let me watch this.
Aye. The Ring was the thing that created Gollum which caused Smeagol to kill Deagol...
I think Gollum was telling you to shut up ;)
Gullom, you are awesome!
Why? you got it WRONG IT'S GOLLUM XP
Stop pointing that at him Now ow-bey your Master you hobbit ` simple ..so swim under the water only way2 get out now get out! How simple is that = > simple Hobbits translation
Actually that's incorrect, there is Smeagol (good) and Gollum (bad)
So they couldn't have made the scene just a little darker to sell the idea that they're in a deep, dark cave?
I know tat from the begging😳😳
I missed Golum.
Well he did indirectly destroy the ring therefore saving all of middle earth, so I really don't get why everyone hates the little guy
lol love gollum
That's the sort of person I hate to watch movies with.
its a damn shame del toro didnt make this movie. jackson is just so shallow compared to him
Is it Andy Serkis again? Wow, he sounds different
