@murrfarms Thanks! Many of the Thunderbolts in Hamilton County are not set right for the Attack Cycle. The Greenhills Thunderbolt I recorded a few Months ago (March I believe) is also set correctly.
@@rainyrec They weren't made in the 1940s. The years of production were 1952-1990. This particular one in the video was most likely made between 1954 and 1958. Unfortunately, it was replaced since this video was taken.
After September 2012, I saw Hamilton County EMA workers on top of the Calhoun Dormitory Building, the location of this siren, repairing it and putting it back to working condition, then I was in class on Wednesday, February 6, and they Did the Growl at 11:57 am, it was pretty loud even with the windows closed. When 12:00 hit, You could hear all three sirens.
Fire Alarms & srens that’s really sad though. It was perfectly fine. It’s just a waste of a perfectly good siren that works much better than the newer ones.
@@austinatkinson4344 Nah. A 2001-130 can outshine a thunderbolt any day. Sometimes, you just gotta take off your nostalgia goggles and realize the downsides the older things have compared to the new. The thunderbolt is still totally a viable warning siren, but it's fairly complex and replacement parts are going to run out eventually since they don't make them anymore.
This is my favorite chopper level for the 4/5 port Thunderbolt, not even sure what chopper level it is but if all Thunderbolts could sound as scary as this I’d be happy.

Very nice Nick! The attack timing on this one is spot on, and that lower pitch sounds epically spooky. I guess this also settles whether this siren is a 1000 or a 1000T lol.
Correction: As of February 2013; This T-Bolt 1000T, The T-Bolt 1000T on the EPA Building, and the T-128 on West Nixon Street are ALL in Service...making the First Wednesday at noon, a time that if you were on the University Campus you'd better cover your ears.

Nick Rusche most are still just sitting, aren't they? I know each municipality is responsible for its own siren removals and figured most wouldn't have or spend the money to do so.

@@trainsandsirensofilinmiwi2080 Hurricanes suck, 2T22’s aren’t loud, and replacing it with another thunderbolt would make no sense at all. 508’s, 2001’s and T-128’s according to decibel ratings are louder than Thunderbolts. So they’re very useful, I wish we still had thunderbolts and all the cool sirens everywhere, but for coverage sake, it’s only fair to use more modern sirens.

Wow, didn't even know there were people with an interest in sirens until about a day ago, guess anything can be a hobby. I remember these from my childhood, I didn't even know they were called anything other then tornado sirens until now. What brought me here is I remembered the unique look and sound these "thunderbolts" had and wondered if anyone else found them interesting...I guess my questions has been answered. :) Too bad my town has since replaced all of them with boring gray whatevers.

My favorite sirens are first the sd-10 then the cyclone and then all of my ASC tempest sirens then the eclipse 8 then the fs 508 then the 3t22 and the 2t22...
The I-Force is a great siren for downtown areas because you want a siren that can be noticeably heard but not be so deafening and ear splitting like Tempest Sirens. There would be many people outdoors waking about downtown so they get good coverage while not scaring and hurting people's ears.

Mount Healthy bought their 1003 from Fairfield after all of Fairfield's sirens were replaced by 2001's. It makes sense considering it's cheaper to buy a used siren than a brand new one.

@amtrak3501 I think somebody was going to cut them off. No cops came, so that's fine with me. I was going to film it from one of the parking lots, but a guy came up to the car and said that I had to pay $5 to park. So I just parked on the street and put some money in a meter. Some students did walk past me and said nothing.
