It also marks the culmination of a week of celebrations, beginning on Monday 24 June, when the public show their support and appreciation for the Armed Forces community. It also includes Reserves Day (26 June), which provides the country with an opportunity to recognise our Reserve Forces.
This is a morale boost, it is to show just how much we appreciate the very men and women that protect our land, sea and air (and space). It is also a chance to show support for our veterans and their families. You can find out more about what they are doing at home and around the world by visiting the official sites of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.
Supporting our sailors, soldiers and aviators goes beyond Armed Forces Day. In fact, the Government, local communities and businesses across the UK have committed to supporting Armed Forces personnel past and present by signing up to the Armed Forces Covenant. This is what our channel is going to do.
Veterans
A veteran is anyone who has served in the HM Armed Forces at any time (including National Servicemen, Regulars and Reserves). Armed Forces Day celebrates their continued role within the military community.
You can find out more information about support for Veterans on the Veterans-UK website or by calling Veterans UK on 0808 1914 218.
Reservists
Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve.
Cadets
The Cadet Forces (Sea Cadets, Volunteer Cadet Corps, Army Cadets, Air Cadets and the Combined Cadet Force) currently number over 135,000 cadets and 25,000 adult volunteers in more than 3,000 locations across the UK. The Cadet Forces provide the opportunity for young people to develop key life and career-building skills, and gain valuable vocational qualifications.
Families
Our Armed Forces couldn’t do their job without the incredible support of their family and friends.
Charities
Although Armed Forces Day is not a charitable event, the Armed Forces have the support of several UK charities and many local events will offer opportunities to support them. Please find believe our two charities we are supporting this year:

I was there.. Typhoon display was very good!
Just watch the clock as the Typhoon came in… 16:00 on the dot.
Oii Oii Aaron, Turbo has taken precision to a new level; 16:00:00 I mean that’s perfection.
5:07:35 the vertical climb from any RAF Eurofighter Typhoon at an airshow is just incredible to witness, they like punch a hole through the clouds at such speed, the F22 Raptor isn’t far behind like the Typhoon as well. ☁️✊🏻💥✈️
You could've asked 5 pounds for a picture with Ted to donate to the forces.... Marvelous day @ted and TCS
Thanks for this stream, something slightly different but still a really enjoyable watch, Great to have a dedicated day and events like this to be able to celebrate our Armed Forces.
Oii oiii thank you so much
Thank you Ted, your Squadron loved it ❤ Captured expertly by Nikos & great stream from a lovely venue for a poignant Armed Forces Day. Turbo too, what a tremendous display & goodness me, that "High Alpha" manoeuvre, unbelievable, Moggy suspended in mid air 😲, phenomenal ❤️.
Oii oiii Margo thank you very much. Turbo just gets better and better
Great to see you today! Thoroughly enjoyed all the displays but can't beat the noise of the Typhoon 😎👍
Oii Oii Dan 🤙🏼you too
Armed Forces Day celebrated with Ted Coningsby Squadron & some fantastic air displays. Ted, Nikos and Claire Bear, thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable day at Scarborough. Sterling effort ❤
It was a wonderful day and proud to be here
It's not an easy day in the weather. It's really well done on the stream. I'm on a catch-up scenario 😂.
Love that you captured the Marching, sounds, and band, the very essence of forces day. Terrific that. Of course, Turbo's entrance in Moggie was interesting and 4pm on the nose! ❤ he came from behind the headland and cliffs to scare off the seagulls.. totally dynamic with that backdrop. Great too watch him periodically go behind low clouds to reappear either inverted, rolling or putting on the power. I thought with this scene by the sea you really get to witness the speed more clearly. Moggie looked pretty as a picture and showed up nicely in the light. Well done Turbo!
The Pitts from Richard Goodwin is a real pleasure too watch, seen it a few time, that man can control a plane. His transition from spins, power and climbs were seemless.. 💯% action all the way. The Titans are fantastic pairing and their aircraft look and sound beautiful 😍. I really hope I get too see both very soon.
The Starling Aerobatic display is another I must see. Talk about throw them about. I often ask now. How do they keep up and stay aware of their orientation during flight with those endless moves. They are incredible pilots. That is a skill. Orientation from all these pilots here during the displays is not as easy as it looks. I'm so glad I watched the whole stream
Thanks for standing there all day. Hugh admiration for the way you go about it. Well worth a visit to Scarborough. What else is out there for you to cover, to try, then find a gem of a day somewhere. Biggin Hill, Cromer, Lowestoft? Farnborough? All have carnivals or an Airshows.
See you just never know do you? Giving me a injection of excitement for RIAT now Ted. Appreciate your time here.
3:24:31 OMG!! I say an untrained aerobatic pilot would easily pass out cause that was 18 extremely fast aileron rolls one of the Titan’s aerobatic stunt planes just performed here. Jeez that would actually hurt the head and eyes a lot but for that pilot I say he was okay. Never seen that many aileron rolls performed by any aircraft at an airshow in my life, literally!! 😱🌀
Also about the aerobatic plane that did 18 aileron rolls on 3:24:32, it looked like the pilot imagined a person being stuck on one of the wings. So the only way to knock a person of the plane is to aileron roll prolonged like what this pilot did here. That would definitely increase the like hood of someone letting go of the wing, cause the centrifugal force from an aileron roll from stunt planes and fighter jets is immense
GREAT shot against the castle prior to high alpha ! I wander what the NORMANS would have MADE of the Typhoon in 1066 ? Certainly would have appeared in the Tapestry! Imagine that!
Excellent demo 👍
Cheers Cal
Hehe. It is a great shot and we were hoping he’d skim past it 🏰
Nice one Nikos and Ted😊, absolutely buzzing at cleethorpes excellent weekend
Thanks Jane. It was great
Coming to the end of my membership... need to go crazy on these custom emojis!
Where can I buy a Ted, Armed Forces teddy bear? I have to have several for me and friends and family.
There are a variety of RAF charity bears on the RAFATRAD website
