A lot of online playing is still going on and, Namco decided to go ahead + integrate all that there is onto their own humongous cartoon gaming characters' database. This seems to be the best these devs can, ever, come up with. It is quite possible that this game will have its publishing permits granted via the Canadian Government first. Canada is becoming the gateway to both Europe and North-America and, maybe, the rest of the British Ex-Empire's Commonwealth of Nations. The rest of the world that are, literally, outside of being the most advanced in development(Tech. and overall Culture + Construction), will have to wait a year up to 5 years before having the right to market such game. So, no more Marvel vs Capcom, since these two are a wee bit too North-American in its gaming perspective. Marvel is strictly U.S.A. and Capcom became centralized in California, U.S.A.(Not international enough to attract the rest of the world's markets). Other than above mentioned, I, myself, would love to try it out. Do a Morrigan-Ryu team-up, all over again, would bring back so many memories(First made on the Marvel vs. Capcom 1). ;)
Unfortunately, it will not happen. Getting all the characters together like that for an American release is a logistics nightmare. Before you use Tatsunoko vs. Capcom as an example, Capcom was lucky that most of Tatsunoko's stuff is relatively unknown here, so licensing was cheap & easy. Also, the appeal is limited. People would immediately think of this as a fighting game (like I did), then get pissed off when it isn't. Either way, the game is fun to play, if agonizingly slow.
This game wouldn't make it in America. Besides, the only good strategy games to play are the Super Robot Wars OG Series (It's Fire Emblem, with FREAKIN' ROBOTS!!), and Fire Emblem. I like Fire Emblem.
Localization is such a bitch. I mean look at the Tales series, it's been struggling to gain fans in the west for years. The games may have sold fairly well, but it's still a niche series that will never get all the attention and dick sucking Final Fantasy and Persona has.
