I love Rob's point that he hasn't failed to entertain for 40 years and I would add, the audience still shows up for him after 40 years. That is itself a testament to his relevance in the film industry.
My question is, yes Tom Cruise may not be the best actor ever, however is Tom Cruise the best actor of my generation. I was born in 1982 my first “action” film was Top Gun. I can’t think of any bad Tom Cruise film, I think his worst reviewed film in recent times was The Mummy but I still liked it. Is he the best actor of my generation I say yes he is. When I saw the first trailer for Top Gun Maverick I went crazy and was excited to go back to the cinema and see a no-superhero movie, a movie that had a soundtrack as well. Every time a new film of Tom Cruise comes out I want to go see it, the mission impossible franchise is massive because Tom Cruise owns it, I can see the new one talking £1b next year. Love the show guys ♥️
When someone who is one of the the BEST actors of his generation, out does himself in every production he is apart of in every facet of each motion pictures project, shows up no matter that actor is hard irrelevant. Tom Cruise is One of the main stays, hardest working performers and most influential artists of 20th century/21st-century cinema today in our lifetime. Mickey can be a good actor, when he wants to. But Mickey has also phoned it in far more times than Cruise ever has. Also Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry McGuire, Steel Magnolia, Collateral, War of the Worlds, Tropic Thunder, The Last Samurai, etc. The idea that Cruise cannot act is nonsense. Rourke has had some tremendously lazy performances at times.
Mickey Rourke is a talented actor and a genuinely fascinating guy. But his biggest problem has always been he doesn't know when to shut up. It literally cost him an Oscar for The Wrestler. He can say whatever he wants about Tom, but Cruise is maybe the biggest movie star of all time with more 100M dollar domestic movies than any actor in history. His latest movie is on its way to cracking the top 10 highest grossing domestic releases of all time. That's the defintion of "relevance." Plus he's been nominated for 3 Oscars, which is two more than Rourke has so it's not like he can't act either.
Does he know what irrelevant means? Yes Tom isn't the best of best, but he's good & doesnt make him Irrelevant Yes he's kinda one Dimensional, but that's not always a bad thing, and doesn't make him Irrelevant
@@davidlaid1146 I'm not familiar with Hemsworth's So I don't know if he's is or not, But being one dimensiona, l does not mean you are a bad actor or the worst That's not what one dimensional means, there's plenty of good and even very good actors that can be thrown I'm the one dimensional category
A has-been actor who's become irrelevant getting his five minutes of fame by talking trash about one of the most relevant movie stars of all time. Rourke has some Oscar-worthy performances, but then again, so does Cruise, and only one of them is still topping box office charts four decades into their career. TC has indeed been playing the same role lately, but he's never failed to achieve the one true purpose of an actor - entertaining the audience. I sure as heck haven't been entertained by Rourke in a long, long time.
I have a serious question, Tom Cruise exists in his own mind sphere, with his odd religious beliefs etc, but does he even know or remember who Micky is? I just picture Tom waking up, seeing a tweet about this and be like who? Then oh yeah right.
First of all, I think Mickey Rourke has the potential to give absolutely extraordinary performances. His work in the 80's, his one-scene performance in "The Pledge" (which is one of the best bit-part performances I've seen from anyone), and his performance in "The Wrestler" are nothing, absolutely NOTHING, to slouch at, though I think he's unfortunately gotten really bad at burning bridges when it comes to making comebacks, because I'd love to see a lasting Rourke comeback. And I think it really says something when Elia Kazan, director of acting masterclasses like "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "On The Waterfront", says that Mickey Rourke's Actor's Studio monologue in the early 80's was the best one he'd seen in a good 30 years. Unfortunately, I think Mickey, in all the years he's been at work in the business, hasn't learned much in the way of class and diplomacy, which is very sad to me. Not to mention the fact that I think he's dead wrong here. Cruise's work in "Born On The Fourth of July", "Collateral", ESPECIALLY "Magnolia" (one of my all-time favorite acting performances), and numerous other works, not to mention that hard work, dedication, and intensity Cruise brings to everything he does, show his skill as a performer. I just wish Rourke would learn that he can have opinions while learning to be more diplomatic and classy at the same time.
Sounds like sour grapes from a guy who knows he could've had a much bigger career but for his personal choices. And at least Cruise didn't destroy his face in an ill conceived attempt at trying to become a boxer
I don't think it's odd. I just think it's petty. And that he said money etc is not what he's after in Hollywood, you know that he actually is. Probably just Rourke being passive aggressive towards another person's success.
That comment is insane ....Tom Cruise is far from that and prob one of the top ten best actors of the modern era ....mickey isn't on his level in any way

The Firm. Excellent and overlooked thriller.
He said it to gain publicity. He said it because he knew pundits would cover it. If you think he is being absurd then dont enable him by covering his statements.
I love Rob's point that he hasn't failed to entertain for 40 years and I would add, the audience still shows up for him after 40 years. That is itself a testament to his relevance in the film industry.
Wtf has Mickey Rourke done in the last 5 years absolutely nothing he’s more irrelevant than Tom cruise tf
Mikey is a 90’s tough guy, great actor. But cruise comes from that era too. Cruise is serious about his production’s.
He has more than earned his place among the greats. He should be spoken with reference and appreciation I whenever mentioned. Mickey Rourke must be projecting.
Tell him to go cry about Iron Man 2 some more.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 facts 👌🏻
@@peterparker9214 Its been like 12 years and he still won't let that shit go.
Tom Cruise was absolutely incredible in Magnolia. One of his best performances.
Tom Cruise is soooo RELEVANT that the popcorn 🍿 pops itself and then buys a ticket 🎟 to see his films🎞 🎥
Mickey Rourke is far more irrelevant than Tom Cruise. Reality check for you
I hope this is a ruse for a future Cruise movie where Rourke is a villian or something.
Tom cruise is a realllyyyyy weird dude. But AINT no way mickie is saying he doesn’t work hard or have talent. Dude is probably the most talented action star rn besides the Rock
Tom cruise action and rock action ain’t comparable because one the rock is a candy ass movie star and 2 Tom cruise is miles ahead of the rock
@@omarcarlos537 Tom Cruise is million times better than The Rock
I love Mickey Rourke, but the one that became irrelevant was him... So much talent gone to waste...
Les Grossman? Cruise was hilarious in that role!
I wonder why anyone should care what Mickey has to say since he hasn't made a good movie since The Wrestler
has Mickey Rourke even been IN a movie since the Wrestler (which was great btw)
@@Defender78 He has but I haven't watched them. I don't think I'm missing out on anything
@@Defender78 Iron Man 2
The last samurai is one of my favorite movies ever
Really? That’s my least favorite. I think I liked him in Jerry Maguire better
@@mikeoneill81 I watched it as a kid and that was my first experience seeing a movie of his where I was interested enough to remember his name. I think Ken Watanabe outperformed him but he was amazing and I absolutely love the movie
Whiplash is trying to pick a fight with superior iron now, I see how it is. One iron man just ain’t enough for him
Mickey can be a good actor, when he wants to.
Correction: Steel Magnolia has Dolly Parton in it, you mean “Magnolia”.
Whatever you can say about Cruise, he has a much better filmography and work ethic than Frankenstein's Monster.
I loved Tom in Tropic Thunder 😂😂😂😂He's great in comedy 💖💖💖💖
Sounds like pure jealousy. Plain and simple.
"Go back to screaming at the sky in your backyard" Laughed my ass off xD ahaha
I think most people like Tom but are jealous of his success.
Rourke is jelly XD
Tom is one of the last true hard working movie stars.
There are only three Mickeys. Mouse, Rooney, Mantle. Who’s this other guy? Didn’t his career only last 9 1/2 weeks?
Good one
😂😂
Agreed, comment is asinine from Micky Rourke. Also, Vanilla Sky is Tom's best movie in my opinion.
VERY GOOD MOVIE
Rourke is wired to be unhappy. This man works in an industry he openly says he hates, but he'll take those checks.
Does he know what irrelevant means?
Yes Tom isn't the best of best, but he's good & doesnt make him Irrelevant
Yes he's kinda one Dimensional, but that's not always a bad thing, and doesn't make him Irrelevant
He probably projecting, he definitely jealous.
@@davidlaid1146 I'm not familiar with Hemsworth's So I don't know if he's is or not, But being one dimensiona, l does not mean you are a bad actor or the worst
That's not what one dimensional means, there's plenty of good and even very good actors that can be thrown I'm the one dimensional category
Mickey drank a mega pint of haterade before the interview. It’s that simple.
Mickey’s just jealous that Tom aged better than him
Born on the Fourth of July? Jerry McGuire? Magnolia? Legend? Risky Business? Collateral? Yup. Looks like the same character
no love for, a few of good men??
@@mrheru8627 Thats one would be used to prove Rourke point, very Tom Cruisish role
John, didn't you bash Andy Signore? You and he are in the same field.
I have a serious question, Tom Cruise exists in his own mind sphere, with his odd religious beliefs etc, but does he even know or remember who Micky is?
I just picture Tom waking up, seeing a tweet about this and be like who? Then oh yeah right.
INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE, GREAT
TROPIC THUNDER, GREAT
A FEW GOOD MEN, GREAT
LAST SAMURAI, GOOD
First of all, I think Mickey Rourke has the potential to give absolutely extraordinary performances.
MAGNOLIA!!!!!!
Amazing film
That comment is insane ....Tom Cruise is far from that and prob one of the top ten best actors of the modern era ....mickey isn't on his level in any way
tom cruise has been nominated for an academy award twice for born on the fourth of july & jerry maguire
3 times actually, Magnolia
