Savage raids are actually not the same restriction as normals. You can get multiple pieces per week from each, but you only get access to gear from one clear of each fight per week. So if you clear all four fights you can potentially get a full gearset in a single week by winning your rolls on every single piece, but you can also win no rolls on your first clear of each fight in a week and that's it, you don't get any other chances until the following week. Otherwise great video though, and even this detail won't matter much to those who need this guide!
100% facts! Great catch, thanks I'll pin this if you don't mind! Also, like your optimism as the flip side being my usual experience of walking away each week with nothing but the book!
This is greatly appreciated, as a fresh lvl 90 who has been recruited against their will to a savage static for the first time, having never done any sync'ed extremes past Heavensward and without experience of what the gear progression grind looks like each current patch. Pray for me.
For what it's worth, the Ring being unique doesn't mean you can only equip one, it means you can only have one in your inventory at all, so you can't even accidentally buy a second one!
Nice! I've been that paranoid about accidently buying the same piece for so long I didn't realize it hard stopped you. Just for funzies I had a look in-game and you can trick it if 1 ring is in your saddlebag or assumingly your retainer......... not that you'd want to!
I'm a total scrub casual, and was thankfully able to just buy the 640 crafted greens... still catching up on post-6.0 story since I've been gone over a year and a half.
I appreciate the work put into the video and the advice, but wouldn't it be far easier and faster to grab the 560 free gear and get the MSQ gear + Dungeon Gear throughout progression and then gear up with current normal raid and tomestones (rest could still be current Dungeon gear or ex/savage if you're willing to run it)?
I'd say not as a holistic approach from start to finish. The MSQ it's self doesn't give any gear past level 88 (bar the free 560 gear), so you'd be spamming different gradually increasing item level dungeons, which may or may not drop the gear items your looking for each run to roll on (which you'd also need more of as lower IL) vs. the more guaranteed better item levelled drops in the raids (which are also quicker to run) in order to get to IL615 for the current raids.
It takes 7 weeks to get the tomestone weapons but if you wait 1 more week, the next relic will be available. The tome weapons are just not worth it this round beyond glamor. I'd get the relic and save the blades until they drop the cost to 4 blades and then buy a bunch of them for fashion accessories.
My personal preference would be to get the IL650 tome weapon still, as very likely the relic upgrade in 6.45 will be weaker (IL645) if shadowbringers pattern is repeated. And especially for anyone who aims to then upgrade it to 660 via savage, as the relic weapon likely won't come close to that until 6.55.
@@SamsonGrey26 It's a solid idea to wait if you would prefer, because the 5 IL is a minimal difference and it means you can upgrade your weapon *and* an armor piece instead of just one or the other, unless they make the weapon upgrade take weekly tomes this time instead. I don't necessarily think there's a wrong way to go about it though, either is an upgrade and fine. Bear in mind though that the 5 IL difference can be made up for a little by having 5 materia slots instead of 2, and generally better stats. Most gear has a High Stat and a Low Stat and 2 materia slots, while the relics have 2 High Stats and 5 slots. At only a 5IL difference, I don't think that actually means they're going to be that much weaker. Possibly even stronger with that many more substats.
Relics are not going to overtake the Tome weapon. Tome weapon is i level 650 (with upgradability to 660 on patch 6.5 release or savage). the Relic stage for 6.45 will be 645. the Extra substats on the relic is NOT enough to make up for the i level difference.
@@knowwhoiamyet The 5 ilevel difference will not be overtaken my materia for weapons. Weapons acctually increase your damage from multiple sources, Firstly, your mainstat, then your substats. But it also increases your Weapon damage, which is the biggest upgrade you can get. there has only ever been 1 case i can recall where a tome weapon was taken over savage (outside of piety for healers). Blm in edens promise. they took it because the savage weapon has crit/det, and tome had sps/dh, and back then, sps was much better than crit for blm.
@@SamsonGrey26Thats amazing, i'm currently in Stormblood and I don't think I will reach Endwalker before Dawntrail drops. You've been a great help for me while getting into this game, thank you! :)
I love looking through the gear options and putting together an armor set for myself. For RPR is so simple as well, you want CRIT on the gear. And CRIT. Any maybe a little bit of CRIT. In most slots that narrows it down to one or two options without savage, Chest has to be crafted f.e.
For Rpr, Tome chest is Better than crafted. the only piece it COULD be better to use crafted for (outside of your 2nd ring), is the Shoes. Having crit on the gear doesnt beat out the Strength gain. Only thing that makes I level potentially not a gain is Tiering, Having piety on the gear, or Sks/Sps being arkward.
@@f1reman237 given unlimited tomestones you're correct, but getting crafted chest is better until you run out of BIS tome gear to buy, which will take several more weeks
I thought of a clever work around. Instead of wasting countless weeks and days grinding pointlessly stay one whole expansion behind the current and boom your set with easier grinding. I'll see you guy's for dawnbringer in... oh 8 ish years or so lol.
13 weeks lol I love FF14 but this stuff is just a time sink forcing you to play for months with limited content, the way they stretch it out is embarrassing
I have a good question HOW the hell do you see what an item's level REALLY is? ALL my level 90 gear shows level 90, So it makes trying to find out at a glance what gear is higher level with a quick glance basically IMPOSSIBLE. I checked the entire sheet of every piece of gear and it never shows the real level of the gear. This simple thing is what pisses me of about this game holy crap the amount of extra screen's and button presses make the UI feel so painfully dated.
When you look at the equipment above where it says lv.90 it says 'item level XXX', no need to click on anything else or something. When comparing gear you can right click on a piece and click item comparison which will show the item vs the one currently equipped. Lastly if its a help you can click recommended gear in the character screen which will show you every gear slot and if you have a 'better' or at least higher item level piece in your armoury chest.
Rather than a waste it boils down to choice re whether you want, or have the funds to buy the Rinascita gear (assuming most are not in position to craft themselves), in addition to still needing 800 Causality. I personally prefer to primarily discuss the no gil approach in these types of vids. Though also from a gil wastage perspective if that's a factor for someone, be careful as if server prices are like my data centers then the Rinascita gear costs way more gil than what the tomes are worth (via buying/selling crafted mats for example).
I sold everything in my armory chest not realizing it allows you to sell gear you have equipped on job fits 😢 I’m new to the game but I was lvl 71 dancer and 60 bard now it’s all gone lol
Sold it to a vendor for gil?! sorry absolutely gutted. Too late to help now but if you accidently sell something again the vendor has a buyback tab, next to current stock which will enable you to get back a items which you've just sold!
With the amount of classes in the game he made it so you can play any on one character since there was so much playing and alting was wrecking peoples ability to play as you would need to multi class. Now with the sheer amount of classes being added again I hit end game in EW and realized why the hell is the rate of end game gear capped so low? It's so insanely low across the board there are 20 classes and going to be 22 and another limited ob next year and your telling me I can't play my existing favorites and the new ones in end game!? It was all for nothing... until they raise the top end weekly rates so I can support more end game classes geared without spending 10 lifetimes to do it. See the problem there I only have one lifetime and I don't want to spend it gearing up. This game in its current state sucks and is one of the most overrated mmo on the market it's like a 5/10 at best. I mean it does have some cool qualities but I want to be able to level up more than one job to max gear please there are way too many and this is long over due. No more money to FF14 until it starts fixing this shit.
One thing i hate about this game is it is terrible at explaining where you are meant to get specific tokens. The vendor will show a token is needed and then the tooltip just talks crap for 6 lines and youve still no fking clue without going online. Just say needs unsung blade from such and such a raid ... Why is that so hard for SE to understand. I shouldnt need their external website to work out what the fk im meant to be doing. Oh i also think the game does a poor job in making new gear seem effective. In other mmos you get new gear and its usually immediately noticable in damage or some other stat. I dont get that feeling in FFXIV. Its barely noticeable.
This a foolish guide, current Rin gear is super cheap at ilvl 610 and even Dib gear (ilvl 640) can be cheap. Wasting causality on gear you'll easily replace when you could be using it for your manderville weapon is pointless. Spend the Gil and run extreme content for EW to get mats you can sell. This gearing process should only be used if you have less than 1 mil.
