Watercolor Plein Air ✶ Scotland Legend Story Time
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Join me for some watercolor plein air painting at the beautiful Sligachan falls on the Isle of Skye. I want to share the beauty and tell you about the legend of this area. It's fascinating to know the history of the areas I'm painting and I plan on doing more trips like this and discover more Scotland legends.
For this painting I used my Strathmore watercolor sketchbook and portable painter with watercolors (see supply list below for my list of colors and supplies).

Beautiful country side you are so lucky to be able to go walk there and paint outside. Loved the Celtic story.
There is soo much out there to see & paint - we live in a beautiful world. I live in Northern Californis - close to forest & coast. Thank you for sharing your world!
Thank you for sharing your wedding moments.❤️
Probably be revisiting this one. Listening to you tell the tale and watching you painting was very calming.
Omg you looked like Arwen in your wedding photos!! Such beautiful pictures!! I want to see more pics of what you looked like on your wedding day!! ❤️
Thank you!
Fabulous painting! Wonderful lore! Thanks😁
Such a lovely video. A special person in a very special place. Loved the legend you shared. 💖
A beautiful and charming video from start to finish (and so well edited!). Thank you!
Thank you very much!
Great painting! Loved the story and music.
This place is gorgeous! Would love to hike there one day.
UA-cam suggested this video of yours today and I subscribed to your channel right that moment. I can’t wait to see more of your beautiful vlogs, Sarah.
Welcome aboard!
This was lovely, thank you!
I love your watercolour painting, so fresh and honest. 👌thank you so much for sharing. X
Thank you! Cheers!
What a beautiful video and a charming tale 🥰
Ohh I was lucky enough to visit the Highlands and the Isle of Skye some years ago and it was such a treat for the eyes
We could learn a lot from mythology!
Thank you so much for this video! I fell in love with the isle of Skye and especially Sligachan ever since I went there the first time early in 1989 with the Celtic Soc of Aberdeen university where I was student for two terms. I came back whenever I could, once even camping in a night with gale force winds (which was not a good idea .... we ended up sleeping in our car in a car park near Dunvegan Castle).
Sounds like classic Skye! We've camped in a gale as well...brutal!
Love your style $ color choices
lovely work and film
Loved your watercolour and the telling of this legend. I hope we will manage a trip there in the better weather as it’s a 5 hour drive from here and now the weather is changing and the days are short we won’t manage TIL spring 😏
I love the legend and the beautiful simplicity in which you created that landscape! Watching you paint with watercolor reminds me less is more!!!
Thank you so much, and yes sometimes less is more! 😀
I love this scene so much, I watch the long AND short version. ❤️
OMG ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Thank you for sharing this beauty. 🥰
I'm glad you like it!
@@SarahBurnsStudio Always. 🥰😊
Beautiful video! Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
I love hearing myths and legends and the Celtic parts of the British Isle are rife with wonderful tales. Being from Cornwall I am more familiar with those stories but I am slowly learning more of the Irish tales. Skye looks stunningly beautiful and your painting, as always, was gorgeous 💚
I think there is a lot of crossover from Ireland, Scotland, England and even norse, very fascinating!
It’s really cool to binge your old videos while still watching your new releases, and just seeing how your art just keeps getting better and better! Also, my husband and I had that same discussion about ceremony size vs eloping, but we did in fact end up eloping 14+ years ago!! Your wedding was sooooo pretty!
Thank you! Yea…eloping is just so romantic and personal. Small wedding is the next best thing 😊
Hey Sarah, just wanted to let you know that you and your art are very wholesome to watch during these times :)
I'm glad you enjoy it :)
I love the Fairy tale . It is so very chilling and romantic! So, I have to ask? Did you dip your head in the river? You must have.🥰😄 thanks for the Scottish Lore.
No it was freezing! I didn't want to pass out lol. I splashed my hands and maybe that was enough to give me a year's worth of beauty 😁
Loved hearing this legend while watching you paint.
Skye Boat Song:
Sing me a song of a lass that is gone,
Say, could that lass be I?
Merry of soul she sailed on a day
Over the sea to Skye.
Lovely :)
Beautiful! I love your drone footage and how you edited this together. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much you did a beautiful job in all ways with this video. I feel such a love for Scotland, although only by guesses am I possibly from that area generations ago. I will slow it down to watch that art again, so glad this is watercolor.
Hi Sarah beautifully romantic video that was lovely to watch.
Marvelous Sarah! Hope you are keeping well - you have a full plate. Take good care. 😊
Oh that legend is beautiful! I've always loved legends, and this combo with watching you make magic out of your watercolours was just so wonderful. Thank you
There are sooo many cool legends in Scotland, I want to explore more of them!
La hermosa creación de Dios!.
Very special beautiful place Sarah. I think you must have lived there in a past life (-: Marion
I believe so! I'm constantly pulled to Skye by some unseen force
the scenery is gorgeous there
good job with the name pronunciations, i would be so tongue tied with them lol
I had to practice a lot 😂 and I know it’s still not perfect
I have a tip, did you ever painted Camasunary Bay? Really nice
I still haven't been there - we did part of the hike last year and it was awesome, but I need to go back with more time (and not during winter LOL)
I found you recently when looking into colour theory and let me tell you you're the kind of nerd I like. :)
My husband and I also had a small non-traditional wedding with interesting clothing. My dress was crocheted with a beautiful mandala pattern over my pregnant belly. Anyway...
I absolutely LOVE your plein air style. I'm looking to develop my own favourite way to sketch OC characters and scenes so something loose like this maybe in conjunction with microns would be something I could get into.
Now before my babies wake up, I'm going to watch more of your videos while I squeeze more paint into my palette. :) I hope you have a lovely day thinking about and reminiscing everything in this video and your marriage - that trip looked absolutely awe-inspiring. :)
Hello Elizabeth! (Or should I call you Liz?) I think small personal weddings are the BEST! I used to be a wedding photographer and those were my favorite to photograph.
@@SarahBurnsStudio Almost everyone calls me Liz, however I do prefer Elizabeth. :) No one wants to say that many syllables though haha.
I loved having a small wedding. It was super fun, laid-back and we made money (from gift cards and whatnot) since we hardly spent anything on the ceremony.
That's cool that you were a wedding photographer! Did you stop because you found it more interesting to paint photos rather than take them? :)
Go on then, you first... I don't think it will do much for me, I'm too far over the hill.
No, not even think ’bout it, it won’t happen! You can’t make us understand why You shouldn’t be proud.
Charming legend! Beautiful sketch!Did you dip your head in the river??
Nope, not this time 😂
