Tahun 1998, KLIA baru setahun jagung buka, KLCC pun masih baru dan wow setiap kali dapat lalu tengok. Tahun tu tahun sukan Komanwel.. kira first time dalam hidup saya tengok event sukan antarabangsa besar-besaran di Malaysia. Tiap2 hari waktu sukan tu, ada je kawan2 pergi sana. Mak & ayah masih bekerja di KL berdekatan dengan Dayabumi & Jalan Sultan Ismail kot (lupa). Kat Shah Alam kami masih naik bas mini pink (sekarang dah masuk muzium), UiTM Shah Alam masih banyak pokok hijau.
Almost like Japan, didn't depend on personal transportation. Walking as a transportation for them. Ahh it's cool just watching people just walking to their destination
At that time Malaysia was only starting to develop. Not many people can afford automobile. But our economy has since bloomed and for the better or worst.
I was 13 years old that time. Commonwealth Games 1998, Reformasi Rally DSAI, the opening of LRT Kelana Jaya line and lastly huge water shortage in Klang Valley. What a memory...

Kenapa aku menangis saat dia tunjuk gambar pejabat pos, daya bumi tu :'( Dulu ayah aku selalu ikut jalan area situ pergi office dia menghadap dataran merdeka tu. Masjid negara pulak tempat dia solat jumaat dulu, masa kecik selalu tengok tv sebab time solat kadang2 kamera fokus nampak ayah aku dalam tv tu. Zaman2 ayah aku cari duit untuk besarkan aku dan sekeluarga. Sekarang dia dah sakit. Bila tengok video ni teringat kenangan aku masa kecik tahun 98, keluarga masih sihat, kenangan indah sekarang tak :( Ada sesiapa simpan lagi rakaman solat jumaat era 90an/asma ul husna from RTM era tu? Surely a study has been done on this, indeed, it affect us psychologically. Idk why and I haven't research anything but I assume it's because we are human with feelings, memories and we are curious creatures that will think of something deeply at some point.

Rindu KL yg dulu. Yang kita nampak warga asing tu jarang2 saja. Sekarang ni kalau masuk Pudu - Kotaraya - Pasar Seni - Chow Kit, masyaAllah rimasnya warga asing terlalu ramai. Banyak lot kedai dah kotor dan dikuasai mereka. Jalan2 KL dulu tenang tak macam sekarang.

You do know that people looking down on their phone while walking is talking to someone else or in other words socializing. No one is playing candy crush while walking. So, really people are actually more social today, considering most of the pedestrians in this video aren't talking while walking. Heck, look at us, we are literal steangers to one another. We don't know even know each other's name but here we are socializing about something. Look at the comments in this video thousands of comments and replies. In 1998 they could maybe call their parents back at their kampung once a day to save money on credit but now you can just instantly message or call them on whatsapp every hour.
Sorry but comment post on web is not socializing. Kids today sadly lack social cues when face to face compare to kids back then. Back in 1998 for poor students, they use public phones with phreaking(free call phone hack) to call parents. If you can afford Nokia phone, SMS was 20sen per msg so we send only when needed. mIRC was also popular so we did socialize with western netizens and adhere to netiquette. Today honestly being on Whatsapp 24/7 is exhausting, office or family expect you to be available all the time
@@beluwuga2573 "socializing" through the phone is not an actual socializing. Be the third person and look at yourself when you're "socializing" through phone, the third eyes will see you as someone who stars at a brick, laying down on bed. That's not even a real socializing and even that looks like wasting your time doing nothing.

Menariknya Malaysia waktu ni. Remarkable video there is. I've been regularly walking/running throughout these areas up till now.. 1996 (when I was in highschool) - onwards. I remember when Puduraya was still a bus hub and I do remember several years ago (2018) where I'd easily bump onto German, Polish, Finnish, American while going for work around Changkat Raja Chulan. Mostly weekend it would even be more when back after running. Unfortunately the pandemic hits us hard... but for me Malaysia is still one of unique country despite how absurdly the politic/race issues being brought here, everytime. I believe if we spread good deeds it would eventually heard. Forget the politician, I try as much as I can to get foreign friends, because that's how you can tell what Malaysian are. Just don't leave it to the embassy to do their job. Stay positive Malaysia. We are great when united
Darjah 6, zaman yg sentiasa dikenang kerana tahun juga aku kehilangan org plg tersayang😔orang yg tersayang xlain tak bukan ialah org melahirkan aku, setiap minggu pegi dkt belakang hotel grand season, jemput ambil arwah mak aku buat hemodialisis dgn ayah dan adik aku, sehingga arwah mula sakit tenat , hmm bila teringat , hmm xboleh dilupskan
The fact is,foreigner were already an influx since 80's,esp Indonesian..if you're mentioning abt Bangladeshi or Vietnamese, yes, they were rare at that time...
Even tho I was born a short while after, I am able to recognize some of these iconic spots as I always do street photography around Pasar Seni. I am surprised to see that some of these structures existed that long. Very modern design for 1998.
Boleh makan bersama2 rakan dan family di luar. Bersalam-salaman antara satu sama lain. Solat berjemaah di masjid. Hirup udara segar tanpa memerlukan penapis hidung. I Like the environment, no one staring at phone. All social and enjoy the day!
