Is Money The Root Of All Evil? Mike Maloney Reads Atlas Shrugged

  • More: www.hiddensecretsofmoney.com Is money the root of all evil? In answer to that question, I had originally intended to set a world record for the 'World's Shortest Article' and simply write 'NO!', then add the video, and post it to the interweb. But that would be far too lazy, and this is far too important. Plus there's a great story behind this weeks post, so allow me to set the scene: Let's start by imagining you are in our main office...
    Welcome to our weekly company meeting. Like most businesses, each week we have a scheduled time where staff from all departments meet and report on what they achieved during the past week, as well as what will be happening in the near future. For us, this happens every Friday afternoon. It's the only time during the week when the phones are predictably quieter, a handy result of being located on the West Coast and marching to the tune of an East Coast market close. It's nice to catch up with everybody, sometimes we have several laptops out with team members Skyping in from all corners of the globe. There will usually be a birthday or two to celebrate-- so it's also a fantastic excuse to eat some cake and chocolate dipped strawberries if that's your kind of thing. It certainly does the trick for me!
    At these weekly meetings our CEO, Mike Maloney, usually reads something to the team. It could be a current news item, or something that he has been working on for his new book. But most often, it will be a short snippet of wisdom from something Mike has found to be inspirational (A book called 'The Traveller's Gift' makes regular appearances -- Mike insists that our HR people hand out a copy to each new employee). It's always fun, and Mike gets a buzz from it because just 15 years ago, he would not have been capable of reading anything to any audience. If you've seen Episode 3 of Hidden Secrets Of Money you'll already know that Mike is dyslexic, but has managed to pretty much overcome the hurdle thanks to modern technology. He still practices what he is going to read a few times beforehand to become familiar with the piece, but there's no need to. He now reads better than most folks. Folks where I'm from, anyway!
    Recently, Mike mentioned to me that he was going to read a section from his favorite book of all time - Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged'. Whoa. This was obviously not going to be a normal company meeting. Having just started to scrape the surface of explaining the dangers of socialism in Episode 5 of Hidden Secrets Of Money, it was obvious that this reading would make for an excellent video. It's also very timely when you consider the current events in Crimea, where Ayn Rand lived as a young girl. Yet another example of history echoing through the ages.
    So, as that guy said in 'American Pie', God bless the internet. Here it is for you to watch at your leisure, grab yourself a chair and get comfy. There are so many great quotes from Ayn Rand in here that it can be a little overwhelming -- it really is a Tour De Force of logic and reason. Please watch it a couple of times, take it all in, and then here is a challenge for you: Pick your favorite lines, and add them to the comments below. Let's see which sections resonate the most.
    I hope you enjoy being in our our company meeting. The vibe isn't usually this heavy, I promise. In fact, straight after Mike's reading we got stuck into the strawberries and sang Happy Birthday to him. More importantly however, we closed out the meeting as we do every week by reading our mission together, out loud:
    To enlighten the world that maximum prosperity can only be achieved through individual freedom, free markets, and sound money.
    Thank you all for your continued support of Hidden Secrets Of Money, and for helping us to accomplish our mission on a larger scale each day. Episodes 6, 7, 8 and 9 are all in the works and will be released in the coming months. If you watch this video closely you might spot some footage from these next episodes...
    As always, all we ask for in return is that you share this video far and wide. This is a message that needs to be heard.
    Man, I need a strawberry.
    Dan Rubock

      Exactly. Once you understand, and can place those words in context, once can understand it for what it is: A love of mankind, and the relevance of understanding the choice is between human flourishing and happiness, or evil, manipulation and needless death supported in the mistaken name of the virtue of sacrifice - human sacrifice.

      I learned of all of this evil back in 2013. I took the red pill, and Mike was one of the experts that taught this and more, back. Today is March 2020 for me.
      But back then, I used to go to a supermarket and see (with my eyes) shelves that are empty of food and essentials, people fighting for them, and looting, and I used to cry. Walking in Walmart, isle after isle, and look at the people, not the food, and think "Is this what is going to happen to these poor people? They will be destroyed even more that they were in 2008."
      Mike and others taught me and showed the future and the taught what I need to do to try to protect my family. Still, we see this horror today. Still more of what we know of slavery, killing, and destruction, are going to take place. What else could a man do but shed tears, coming out forcefully no matter how hard he tries to collect oneself.

    Hi all, judging by the comments...time to revisit an important statement: The first words of the first episode of Hidden Secrets Of Money: 'Your true wealth is your time and freedom. Money is just a tool for trading your time. It's a container to store your economic energy until you are ready to deploy it. But the whole world has been turned away from real money, and has been fooled into using currency - a deceitful imposter that is silently stealing your two most valuable assets - your time, and your freedom.' Think about this, money is just a tool.
      Do you love your hammer? no more than any other tool right?
      Ayn rand's problem was that her own ideals cannibalized themselves. For instance,
      " wealth represents man's ability to think" is complete B.S....... excuse my French. If this is really the case why is it we find so many rich morons? Why are there philosophers and geniuses today who are hermits or live modestly and don't own much?
      There's human capital, just as there is material capital. There is also ecological capital.
      Instead of a monetary system we need an economical merit system, one which rewards ONLY those who contribute to the betterment of the economy and/or environment. If you work at Applebee's, nothing will change.
      Only difference is that instead of your children inheriting a billion dollars after you pass they will only get 10% anything under 100 million will get 20% anything under a million 80% and anything under 100k 100%
      anything barely over 100k deducted to until 100k.
      No capital gains, no offshore tax havens. NO CORPORATE WELFARE.
      That way society ensures that only its productive members will be rewarded and there is no incentive to keep people poor

A personal wealth limit would actually increase banker puppeteering as they sought ways to overcome it, and it would also have the side effect of bringing all progress in all fields on earth to a drastic halt. What would be the incentive for folks to excel? Good luck with the series, enjoy.

      Divine Eternal Maze Money is a real value, and it doesn't make anyone do anything. Its dishonest pursuit is meant to be illegal in a free market. Its honest pursuit is a pursuit of virtue, and as such not only helps one to find purpose in life but is itself a large part of that purpose: production. There is no limit to the spiritual rewards of productivity, and to use violence to impose a limit on its material rewards would be arbitrary and not at all justified.

      ChiefClickClack. I agree but how much better if he were Christian. The real Church are the unknowns who are well known by God for being kind and not condemning are their words toward those who need Salvation but those who were left to give the instructions to the Bible are the same ones who had him crucified, the known Churches, for it said: He being God lent the house out to those which were the keepers of the house and after a long while came back and he called them to himself to give an account. Those in these last hours buried the good word of the book and would not enter themselves but oh how they Loved the praises of man and thats their reward and they would not allow any to enter into the house least they themselves be corrected, Jesus knew thats why even when the theif was on the cross he only had to ask Jesus to please remember him when he went back to the Father and Jesus said : this very hour you will be with me in Paradise, now tell me was he baptized with water being a theif? I think not though we are commanded to be baptized . God bless you my neighbor. PEACE.

      The reference is basically biblical and it is not said in Christianity that "money" is the root of all evil, but the "Love" of money. You are right as is Rand that to love something is to understand its nature, and in the Biblical reference, there are 6 or 7 words for love.
      (1 Timothy 6:9, 10) 9 However, those who are determined to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many senseless and hurtful desires, which plunge men into destruction and ruin. 10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.
      The Greek word used is (Storge (στοργή storgē) a synonym for and in context "coveted after--lusted after. " this is an attitude with is in contradiction to "love" that define familiarity of something;(Philia (φιλία philía) an affectionate regard, of dispassionate virtuous love.
      The love used in this passage is not a "good" kind of love. Unfortunately most languages do not distinguish with clarity what the word love is specifically representing therefore we have a serious misconception in the liberal mindset of what a "good" and "bad" love of money is, and they often ignore it is not the "money" but the bad form of love of money that is the root of all evil.
      This also comes to the 7 deadly sins. Greed, Lust and Envy being three of them represented in the "bad" form of love being used in this passage.
      Further looking at Greed, there are different forms of Greed not all of which are bad. Again peoples lack ignorance of the English language often spurs them onto arguments that are not applicable when talking about money, and is Wealth evil or not.
      I put it to you that in the "Christian" context Extreme wealth is not bad or good. In fact Job not only was the "wealthiest" of all the oriental, but after he passed hit tribulation, God bestowed on him 7 times more than what he had. This in itself indicates that within the framework of Christianity Wealth is not a bad thing. It is our personal attitude toward it that is good or bad.

    Money is not only not evil, it cannot be. Money is a medium of exchange. It facilitates the exchange of labor for value and value for labor and necessary items. It is necessary for our lives as humans. The saying is often misquoted, originating from the Bible. Correctly presented, "the love of money is the root of all kinds of injurious evil". It is properly understood to mean that "the love of money is wrapped up in a multitude of evils". All evil does not involve money.

    • @silverback7783
      @silverback7783 3 роки тому

      Well it becomes evil when it is produced out of nothing then tied to human labor making people slaves, if YOUR not taking your currency and turning it into money silver then your a slave, but even if you do put it on real money you remain a slave because they use paper money to suppress value of silver... and then they send their shills out to tell you there is no manipulation... But it's only thing you can do is stack and hope their paper system blows while you are still alive to see it.

    Mike, I've watched this video twice and I think it has a great message. Thing is I just don't get an emotional response from the message itself, I get more of an emotional response from the passion that you show and what it means to you. I don't know why I feel this way but I do. I guess to me, it's like you said, its a tool, that's how I see it. As far as me and money, I've never had all I wanted but I've always had enough. There were times I've had very little, now and days I've had more then ever, I don't think it's changed me a bit. It's just allowed me to do more with it, a tool that has become more efficient. I been following your work for some time, so don't worry, I'm listening and I've taken a lot of your advise to heart and I've made good choices. I'm still learning Mike so Thank You and keep up the great work.

      I think I listerned to the message with a tear in my eye because (even back then) it predicts the the financial travesty that is happening not only in the US, but in many other countries. The sad part, is that we are allowing it to happen.

    • @AttilaLendvai
      @AttilaLendvai 10 років тому

      Silver Maple Leaf the constitution is just a piece of paper.
      what made america great was the people who lived at that time. their carefully cultivated minds and the model of reality the average person built about the material reality.
      this is all gone, america, the minds of the people living there today, has been destroyed through compulsory schooling and other complementary mind control techniques. and no paper can have the slightest effect on that...

    Money is a tool, it is emotionless, it doesn't hate you but it also doesn't care about you. At the end of the video Mike was getting emotional about a speech on money - emotion clouds the mind and decieves intuition when it comes to markets! When silver was almost $50 there was a lot of emotional videos and even crying about silver! Now it is below $22 again, and another crying video on silver comes out! I don't like this at all!!!

    • @Goldsilver
      @Goldsilver  10 років тому +17

      Hi, I think if you ask Mike about what he was getting emotional about - it would have more to do with the path that this once great country is on, and frustration with the lack of understanding of why things are headed in the direction that they are. You may need to watch and read the speech again. This is bigger than 'a crying video on silver'. Assumptions can also cloud the mind.

    • @silverfuturist
      @silverfuturist 10 років тому +4

      ***** Dan, I think that Ayn Rand's passage on money is one of the most brilliant and insightful passages about wealth. But I have watched countless hours in the last few years about precious metals. When a channel does a video that involves crying there is a correlation (not necessarily causation) that people taking their advice will also be crying soon!

      Dan thanks for the quick response! When I first opened my channel Mike Maloney opened my eyes to the benefits of precious metals. From there I expanded my knowledge by finding people who make a living in the silver market. Mike makes a living by selling silver, he is very good at that and I trust him 100% with service and quality of silver. But to understand the silver market I started seeking out people who make a living in silver other than bullion dealers. What they say about silver is not always the same as what Mike says! Mike is a fascinating person, he said he hires traders, but what he posts in his videos often contradicts what the people he says he hires would say about silver.

    • @wraithwrecker_
      @wraithwrecker_ 8 років тому

      +Al, Orange Park, FL
      Just to add to that: Mike, you should probably look at the KIND of love that verse is referring to. To really get the most out of what the Bible means, you need to look back at the original language. For instance, in Greek, there are 4 different KINDS of love and each of them is distinctly set apart from the others. Back to this verse though, it is the love of money for its own sake, idolatry, that is really what's being alluded to here. Money is an excellent tool and can be used for good or evil. Those who use it properly can do well, those who worship it are materialists and idolaters, putting money in the place of God.
      Anyone who says money is evil is obviously very wrong. Money is inanimate, so that'd be like saying a gun is responsible for the death of whoever it shot at, or that a knife should be punished for stabbing someone. In other words, it's nonsensical to say that money itself is evil. But the adoration and worship of money, which is something entirely different to the recognition that money is a powerful tool in the hands of the responsible, is what is really being condemned. Jesus put it another way: you cannot serve both God and money. You CAN do great things with money, things that would please God. But pursuing money for its own sake is materialism and idolatry, which is to blaspheme God.

    • @wraithwrecker_
      @wraithwrecker_ 8 років тому +2

      ***** That's actually completely untrue. You need to do some research before just assuming the modern translations aren't accurate. In fact, the similarities between any two strange copies (copies whose making/writing had nothing to do with each other and whose locations and time periods aren't coordinated) are over 98%. Meanwhile the closest second to that is the Iliad by Homer, with an unimpressive 60% of agreement between strange copies. No other document of an ancient text even comes close the modern Bible's accuracy and agreement. Remarkably the Bible has changed almost not at all throughout history, aside from the additions. And if you include those, the Bible still remains totally consistent in its message, even though 40 different authors wrote it. That's unheard of. Just ask any scholar who studies this type of stuff. The Bible is one of the most reliable historical documents out there. You should look it up.
