they levi stadium 49ers. this was not a mistake. they knew where the sun would shine. look at the fact that all of the luxury boxes are on one side of the stadium, the shade side. the cheaper seats are the ones that are exposed to the sun. no stadium has all the luxury boxes on one side. all they had to do was a site test setting up a camera to see where the sun sers.
They also built the exact same stadium they wanted to build at the Candlestick site. That's another reason why the place resembles a fucking skillet.
@Sean D It would have been an ideal site right by the water and by a big hill to block the Sun. Instead they moved it south and priced out the loyalest of fans.
I do not understand how SF and San Jose do not have their own distinct football teams. There are cities that have multiple teams and less overall population. Whereas we have two completely different cities. And the football team from one, plays in the other. Bizarre.
Edit: Also screw Lisa Gillmor. She needs to disappear from politics.
That doesn't sound surprising. After all, NFL owners don't seem too worried about attendance numbers, anymore, especially since the blackout rule is gone, plus attendance only generates 15% of their revenue.
California needs a camera to see where the sun raises and falls, shocker. The rest of us used common sense at a young age to figure out that east, west thing
The Levi’s stadium issue would be non existent if it was built at Candlestick point. The stadium was literally designed for a cooler SF climate.
Allegiant was supposed to have a clear roof made up of translucent ETFE panels. Mark Davis originally wanted a retractable roof, but the architects sold him on an ETFE roof that would give the “feeling” of an outdoor stadium while protecting from the elements (LV has extreme heat in the early fall all the way to potentially cold days in winter). Davis went with the plan. But during the aggressive time frame for the build, they tested different ETFE panels and discovered that the clear ETFE panels would create too much heat in the stadium. Therefore, they ended up using quite opaque ETFE panels that remind me of the old Teflon roofs we were used to seeing in the likes of the Pontiac Silverdome, the Carrier Dome, the Hoosier Dome and so on. I wonder if Mark Davis knew this was going to happen if he would have opted for the retractable roof.
A retractable would have cost hundreds of millions more as anything with moving parts has to be built stronger, has to have sturdier parts, requires more maintenance and requires a whole lot of power to open and close.
@@bigk8210 good point. And then isn't Mark Davis the least wealthiest NFL owner??
@@djtrankilo231 Yep 💸
As a 49ers fan, I’m pissed about how uninspired our stadium looks. I get what they were trying to do, but they just failed.. i don’t get how there’s not any way to renovate or reconstruct that unfinished stadium. or the least we can do is change the timing of our games to night game, cause that’s really when our stadium looks decent.
Amen!!! The 5 time Super Bowl winners deserved a stadium that was far more beautiful, & inspiring than Levi's. But then I also believe that the team's stadium should be in SF also.
I'm surprised you didn't mention AT&T Stadiums issue with the sun during mid afternoon Fall games.
And punts hitting the jumbotron
Yeess!! I went last year to that stadium for the Thanksgiving game and the glare from the sun was horrible.
One thing the Vikings should have done with U.S. Bank stadium, IMO, was make it with a retractable roof, and then in December, they could open it and force other teams to deal with the Minnesota winter. In the 70s, the Vikings had a home field advantage at Metropolitan Stadium because of the weather.
Not sure if it was the owner not wanting to make fans uncomfortable with the weather, politicians not wanting it, or if it'd require expensive upkeep and maintenance because of the winters, but I feel like they missed an opportunity if it was an option.
When I saw the title for this video, I knew Olympic Stadium would be in it.
After attending several PAC12 football championship games at Levy stadium, all I can say is I’m glad game was moved to the Las Vegas Raiders stadium!
Good video, but you should have included Ford Field. They built a nice stadium but then had the Lions play there
Ha ha
LoL watch it! Funny comment though!
You can say the same thing about the Golden 1 Center
@@forgottenplaces9780 you need to remove the Levi’s stadium because they know where the sun shines and the cheaper side is exposured to the sun
Good video as per usual! Also, I would like to add that when they built US Bank Stadium they had some design flaws with the outdoor vents placements on the black panels. I read it in the book on how US Bank Stadium was built.
Another great video! Been a fan for a while. Also, go Buckeyes!
Thanks!
I don’t know why I love this channel. maybe it’s your calming voice. I’m a middle aged man
While it’s since been demolished, I was hoping that the original Foxboro Stadium and it’s overflowing sewage system would be on here
The new Comiskey Park not being orientet with centerfield to the northeast instead of the southeast as it is now was a big mistake back when it was designed in the late 1980s. For an even better view of downtown Chicago, it could have been oriented due north or even slightly northwest as long as the setting sun wouldn't be in the hitters' eyes during late afternoon and early evening games.
The new Yankee Stadium's indoor club seating in center field created severely obstructed bleacher views on each side. A boneheaded error by stadium designers to pander to high dollar visitors sitting behind glass eating $50 steaks, at the expense of the peons in the bleachers. By 2016 the seats were removed and a standing patio terrace replaced those sections of seats. Though IMO, an even bigger blunder is the separated $500 box seat sections, which often sit empty during even playoff games, while the seat owners sit in private club suites...as well as corporate seats that go unused. Thus, no ability to move up closer later in the game...the surly security staff will see to that. The segregation between the caviar & the burger set is striking.
I don't think those were mistakes. There's a reason these sports teams cater more to season ticket holders and more importantly, those who buy these suites and private boxes. Any peon that attends these games, these teams will just be like, "Thanks for coming."
New Yankee Stadium was just overall poorly designed. They took a cookie cutter small stadium design and tried to cram in extra seating and Yankee specific features such as monument park. They should have designed it from scratch since the Yanks are not a cookie cutter team.
US Bank Stadium’s glass that killed birds has gained “ the bird killer” stadium nickname.
Sometimes a plan that looks good on paper just doesn't translate when it's actually built, particularly if new building techniques are tried. Montreal's Olympic Stadium ended up being so bad, the fans quit going to games, and the team fled for Washington.
I was at the Expos game the very first time the roof was raised in Montréal, (I am old) was a big deal then, now appears to be much ado about nothing. 🤷⚾⚾
I love your videos!
Good one..thanks... I had heard about 49ers stadium but didn't know about the vikings stadium...
Seattle Kingdome: * sheds ceiling tiles *
Seattle: I give up. * implodes Kingdome *
To be fair, the Kingdome did look crappy for both baseball and football. And the stadiums the M's and Seahawks got look really nice.
They were looking for any reason to demolish it, tbh
Lol I’ve been to Tropicana field. By far the worst ball park I have ever been to.
It looks like a horrible venue to watch any sport
The Vikings got the best stadium in the league
Def up there
@@forgottenplaces9780 I really like the architecture inside and out
@@jgriff444 I like the At&T stadium better, but Viking's stadium is awesome.
The truss support in the center creating that weird gape kind of ruins for me personally
You should do a video on Route 66. Maybe a blog driving on it.
A exterior panel in Minnesota that can’t take wind or moisture? Who picked that?
A Packers fan?
I just knew the giant screen at Cowboys stadium was gonna make the list. I’ve heard that footballs have hit it during punts
Punts most certainly did. A running joke was that the stadium cost a billion dollars, so they couldn't afford a ruler. I don't know if they changed the screen or not. Which may be why it was omitted. I too was expecting to see it on here
@Steve Z no they didn't. A punted football hit the jumbotron again this season. Jerry Jones must think that it could be used as an important leverage for either the kicking team or the receiving team.
@@djtrankilo231 hahaha. That's funnier than it should be. What a shit show
The siding issue was covered by insurance
Doesnt mean it wasnt a mistake
Bro, you should have more followers
Thanks, I get the views and that’s ultimately what counts.
Not to offend him, but he seems to appeal more to Midwesterners
Where is Texas Stadium
Levi stadium one of the worst new stadiums ever built
Certainly there could be more on this
Not meant to be everything.
Building Levi's was a mistake. HAHA.
LA coliseum?
