For commuting, you don't need a nose, and you're better off without one. You do need big, soft wheels because there will be all kinds of debris and rough pavement. I usually road a 27" x 8.5" no-nose single-kick on 60mm OJs and Independents.
This was my college skate setup. Perfect for cruising to class but also being skateable. 9inch deck, 159 indy standards, 52mm OJ Keyframes 87a, though I might go 92a now that its available. After years of downhill longboarding this was the setup that got me back into skating. Perfect mix of usable street setup and wheels that will roll through anything. I might even go 54 or 56mm these days tbh. I took that setup all the way through street skating, parks and mini ramp, got back into transition with it and began skating bowls. Its a bit grippy but a perfect cruiser that isn't a cruiser. I remember skating ledges back in the day. Mannnn I wish I could go back and rip those things
Skinny popsicle or a wider popsicle with wheel wells and 14.75" WB with 58 - 63mm wheels are great do it all boards that tick all boxes. Racing longboards (thin and short) are good commuters if you have the cash.
Awesome video. I’ve skated my whole life but never set up a cruiser before until recently. I just like a fatter board and super soft wheels to be quieter and that’s a cruiser for me
Powell Petalta G-slides not as cushy as OJ but are the best cruiser wheel which can power slide fairly easy. Just for cruising with no powerslides OJ super juice is the top wheel 🍊, keeps speed very well and plows through cracks and pebbles.
Stoked I found your channel recently. It looks like you like the old school style which I also like. I've been riding Powell Peralta reissues for a while now and am so used to the flat shape that it's hard to ride something else haha. Was wondering what old school skaters inspire you..? I saw in a couple videos you were doing some sick old style slappies like Jason Adams..so sick
Love your reviews. What's the safest wheel for a scared old guy skating bowls only . I'm not talking about me I'm just wondering, in your opinion what would you say

I have the Street Thing/Van shape. Had it in ‘90 too. Perfect shape.

As always Thorne, good stuff. I thought you had a zip zinger, curious why you used your friend's.

Can you do a video comparing the 99a and 97a bones x formula
Great video
All you need is a set of OJ Super Juice; wheels, the rest is gravy. :)
