One of thing I loved about this anime was the mother daughter relationship of Ichika. How instead of shaming or getting a gry her Mom was calm and helped her to assess her feelings so she doesn't make a wrong decision.
This is better than higehiro. At least the MC actually had balls to tell FMC that he loves her.
Well, I think Higehiro main plot is not going straight on romance like this one.
the plot on Higehiro focuses more on the issue of runaway girls in Japan and the situation that girls would go through.

This happens in real life all the time, it's so gross and this anime doesn't help at all. Younger kids want to be with adults because they feel flattered and special that they got picked or something. Kids always think they're so adult because they don't know better, but this guy absolutely should know better. He does know better, but he's just fucked up. It says a lot about the writer.

The 10-year age gap is disturbing. 17 yr old teen girl and 27 yr old man. A minor and a womanizer adult have a different level of maturity. It is really creepy if it happened in real life tho. Although I already realized about how messed up the age gap is, I somehow fell in love with the character and relationship development between the two. I am still rooting for them just like Rio did. Besides, they have already agreed to limit some romantic things knowing Ichika is still a minor.
I don't think the age gap really matters , i have a lot of girlfriends who dated grown up men during their high school era ( just dating no sex or kisses or inappropriate touches ) and it worked out pretty good
This age gap and minor things is still a law made by humans that decide to not normalize it. But if you think abt it , it's completely normal for a guy in his twenties to date a young girl (17 to 18 ) it's the human nature

I don't think the age gap was ever the real issue 😅 This guy, from the beginning, was so self-obsessed that he thought a high schooler, who I assume was 17 at the time, would want to do things with him. Then when the girl refuses because she has just met him for the first time and he is way older than her, he suddenly is so in love with her?? It's nice and all but to say that he loves her and she loves him is not enough. You need to know somebody pretty well and your relationship cant survive on love alone. I also find age gaps relationships to be strange because you know...that person could like 10 to 20 years older than you and from what I've heard, it's a harder struggle to keep that relationship going. Majority of the time they fall apart. Not to mention, what would the younger individuals family think? So many issues must be taken into account with that kind of relationship and many shows ( except for After the Rain) dont really take into account the problems and just romanticize the hell out of it.

You just saw the clips only. If you've read the Manga, it's not romantisized. It was brought as an issue by their friends, family and coworkers. ML and FL knew it wasn't normal thing to do, but they realized they were comfortable in expressing each others feelings and thoughts. They decided to take it slowly.
Something that is romantisized is looking through it with tinted rose view. Everything is seen pleasant.
What I learned from reading the Manga is age gap relationship needs a lot work especially when both parties in different stages of life.Also, consent is important.
