In this video, I will show you the DIY Smart Power Strip we will be making in the next couple of videos. The brain of this device is an ESP8266 with some relays tied to outlets which uses my V2 firmware so we can control it through MQTT from Home Assistant, OpenHAB 2, Amazon Echo, Google Home, and HomeKit/Siri. I use this device to control my computer setup and tv setup.

That is a great idea and build. They have backup power supplies with one of those. Just so you have time to save your work. If the electricity suddenly goes off.

I got a 4 outlet and usb power controllable strip, (5 individually controlled sockets) on Amazon for like 27 Bucks or so... It's esp8266 powered so it could be flashed or you can use the API you can get for it.. Probably can't build one much cheaper...

will nice work but why not add power supply to the pcb something like "HLK-PM01" instead of external one

If I were to do it again, I would definitely do that. I designed this a while ago before I found out about those converters.

For people in the EU: Keep in mind that this device is not CE certified, if you don't know what that is look it up.

Yes, I understand. That’s why I said use it at your own risk and proceed with caution

Thumbs down and stopped watching once heard "4 videos" for a simple project many others do in a single video without the sad attempt to just stamp out short pointless videos.
