I highly recommemd cleaning up the bulk with #3 otherwise guidelines would get lost in the way because of lengthy hair from the higher end

What are guide lines for can do it with no guide lines
GUidelines are important to keep track of where you are in the haircut so I highly recommend to create guidelines as you go
