Thank God he was the type to persevere because persevere he did and became the greatest POTUS this country has ever had and at such a critical time, too!
She held the purse strings and owned the house he loved. He was used to relying on her to maintain the style he liked but it was very hard on Eleanor. I often wonder what if he'd cut the strings somewhat and bought his "babs" a real home of their own early in the marriage. But they did marry very young and it was a while before he established the contacts that allowed him to earn a real income outside his family trust
@@regertz his family trust? Oh thats right, his grandpa was a hugely successful drug dealer in China wasn't he. I remember reading that he was known to setup floating barges to sell opium and extract silver and gold from the Chinese people in exchange for their new drug addiction. Do people today think that this has anything to do with the fentenal that's being smuggled into the USA from China? I bet they didn't forget.
I saw this movie when it first aired on PBS, which was perfect timing as that was also when I first became fascinated by FDR's history.
