Cheers mate. Thanks for the video. I need to do mine and I was a little unsure on torque settings. As I don't want to crack my cover by over lightning the bolts. Thanks mate. God bless.
Wow that one hell of a job just to change rocker cover gasket, mine started to leak at the very same spot, hell yea your video helps alot, at least i have better idea on what to do
Great job 👍🏼 My dad took his hiace to the mechanic to do $1,000 of work and they said next time they will need to replace the rocker cover gasket because it is leaking. True that it was leaking but it was leaking because the 10 nuts holding it down were way too loose. A couple were not even finger tight the others were also very loose. We just tightened them up and it no longer leaks. You would think they would have at least tightened them up but nope. I guess they wanted the job to replace it next time for $600. It took us about 5 minutes to tighten them and problem fixed. Lesson is that a leaking rocker cover gasket does not always mean the gasket is bad it might just need the nuts tightened.
Hey mate just wanna ask after putting my rocker cover in found out my gasket were out and then i take out the rocker cover again but when i was taking it out i found my fuel injector seal got broken all 4 of em what could be the reason for that bcz i tight em without a torque wrench
Hi Dan thanks for sharing. Mine is doing the same 2007. How much did this cost to do yourself please? After watching your informative video, I am contemplating it. Did your dad have to do anything else in the way of cleaning where the gasket went other than the scraper and vacuum please? Thanks once again
By memory I paid around $150 for all the seals and gaskets. No, just need the surfaces nice and clean so it steals flat. I’d check your rocker cover for cracks I didn’t know at the time that mine was cracked and couldn’t source one.
Great video! I'm looking at doing this too to replace my injectors. So am I right in thinking that despite loosing the 2 fuel pipe clamps, there was not enough flex in the pipes to be able to manoeuvre the rocker cover off, and you had to loosen or disconnect the pipes at the common rail?

Doesn't hurt to try first i reckon. In my case the cover had a crack in it.
Legend. Followed step by step and replaced mine no worries. Thanks sharing.
Good stuff glad it helped
Awesome video is very informative. Great work Dad
Make sure you degreaser it first mine was cracked turned into a double job

If they are original they do perish. I didn’t plan on replacing mine at the time but they need doing so I did it while it was apart

Did you need to use a scan tool at any time was there any codes on the dash
I didn’t have a scan tool and didn’t end up needing one. I think you may need one with newer models. Mines a 2008

Yes I was worried about cracking the lines so I took them off
Still loving these videos dude. Shopping around for a forester, so no doubt I'll be doing gaskets regularly :P
Well you'd be an expert pretty quick
Did you have to bleed fuel lines to injector to get engine to start????
It should self bleed once you turn it over. Took mine about 30 seconds
Where did you get the shop manual? Great job 👍
I bought it online. Most auto stores sell them
How’d you get all the seals in the whole way?
Hammer and a block of timber and gently tap them in
Did bogging the cracks up work with the liquid gasket?
Sort of defiantly helped
Thanks for the video on this it's so helpful
Where can I get one of the manuals mate, my car is due
I bought mine online. I think most auto shops sell them.
Haynes manual and repair
Cheers mate I went a got one yesterday and did it myself
Awesome Brock. They come in so handy
Where's the pcv valve on the engine located?
I don't know where or what a pcv valve is
Check you manual thanks...would love to know.thats if it gotten one.
I couldn't find anything in the manual. My guess is if it has one maybe comes in the side of the manifold. Nothing in the rocker cover.
Diesels don't have pcv valves 🤦♂️
Must be a common spot for them to leak from there as mine has just started too aswell
It seem like people over tighten them and crack it there
Very helpful vid mate. Just curious did you actually use the crows feet? Saw mainly all spanner work.
Yes I did mostly around the fuel lines
How long did this take roughly bro
A day but i was mucking around with a camera
Great video 👌
Fuck Toyota for making plastic covers seriously!
