I got to give you guys creds for taking a trailer places most people wouldn't take their own rigs much less a trailer. Some of the gutsiest offroad stuff anywhere on the net.
Hey guys… 2023 here, building a 1976 road ranger camper from the bones in America. Best piece you can put on it to make it last? Because I don’t think there’s another video out there like yours.🤣🤣🤣 cheers, my friends
Hey Big Willybaybay!!! Regards back to 2023....!!! Sounds like you've got a good project on the go with that! And would start with the 'bones' itself! The chassis, suspension and wall frames certainly determine the longevity of the camper for sure! Hot dipped galvanised (galvanized - US) chassis, an interlocked aluminium frame with solid steel punch pins is the construction of the Kedrons, and been incredibly strong. Difficult with a rebuild as the bones are already in place, though with so much product and innovations since, there would be a great deal of components in a light weight that would increase the strength, use and function of the camper for sure, and be up to how you'd like to personalise it to suit how you're going to travel. Hope it all comes together great, and you enjoy it when complete! All the best and regards over to the USA from Australia!
Having lived in Australia for a few years I must say it has some of the best 4x4 off-roading experiences I ever had, these Gall Boys really push the limits with their trailer in tow :), love it, consider getting the full DVD, I used to have this but I think I lost it my travels.
Love It!!! These guys are awesome.... My kinda people. I wanna move to Australia so Bad... I love the Great USA and Love Alabama, but I'd leave it all to live there.... Great Video and Awesome driving Skills!!! I want to come play with y'all....
thank you guys, I've been watching this video for a long time, and this is an endless source of inspiration, I always think about it and I made myself a car that simulates how a car works real car. Although it's just a toy, I can clearly feel the excitement it brings when watching your videos. I love you guys
We have a off road ready vw beetle that would go over most terrain rather easily. We also have a camping trailer that latches to the trailer ball on the roof. The trailer reminds you of a goose neck trailer. The body is made of resin. It has all or then things that matter inside. We can turn around 360 degrees while hooked up to it. Since the beetle sits higher up, now the trailer does. We didn't know how well it would drive, ride, or handle on black top as well on the trail. Its perfect. Never got stuck and we went through some serious areas. We had a blast with our camping vw rig.
I had a 1980 Toyota 4x4 pickup bought new..offroaded a lot. I had it for12 years. actually sold and bought it back twice. The speedometer had 310,000 miles on it and the speedometer was broken for 3 years. It was rusted up to the windshield. It sat in my yard for a year before I decided to give it its last rites. Got in it and it started like I had been running it everyday. Drove it off to the crusher. Wish I still had it. It could go where these guys are going.
Awesome set up on that Troopy and van. I'm heading up that way next spring in my FJ40, tent, and tinny with a friend and the dog. Just wish that there were those tracks in SA.
@@peterharrald2024 What is a "very little money" in there case? I've done a big loop last year, in Lexus sedan, small tent and caravan parks, on my own. Less than 2 months later, I was $12000 lighter. Try to put a smallest tent in Broome area under $50 a night. Average around a country is about $35-40. You do it in winter time, of course. Dark falls around 5pm. Than you go to pub and burn the money or stay in dinning area at caravan park, read a book, put up with annoying backpackers while drinking a whiskey and freeze your arse. The pub option worked very well till I realised that education is not for free. Still, Can't wait to do it again.
That is some insane terrain to be taking a trailer over. Very cool to watch, just happy I'm not the one towing that thing. I'll stick with my F150 and a truck tent thank you very much...
I would guess there were several straps holding everything in place too! That would’ve been one scary ride in the camper not being able to see what was coming, not that anyone was in it. 😁
I've always thought you guys were a bit looney, having seen where you take your vans but... absolutely NO ONE can say that your product testing is inadequate!
I agree! I like to how this driver knows how to push the truck to it's limits but also at the same time does not go out of his way to abuse the truck.... that's how all 4x4 drivers should treat their rigs off road.
Excellent crossings through some very difficult sections, not to mention pulling that trailer, it was great to see the video, my credits to the driver. Portugal just watched.
Any bloke that has a desire to do a trip like this , a word of advice , leave the misses at home unless she is a sound sheila that likes the challenge . Kids will love it but be warned It is still 1000klm from Cairns to the top end.You are probably as far away from civilization as we know it. Its great! As having done this trip on bikes with my mate unassisted it is a challenge . Two near death experiences as was struck by Taipan snake but my boot took it. Nearly impaled through the groin by very nasty broken off tree . Crocodile walked past our tent .That was funny. Be safe all. PS The welder at Seisia is good for repair work plus the locals are all friendly living in a paradise.
RC Crawler Workbench Yes it was great, very hard going in places on two wheels in soft sand with all our gear on board , did the trip on yamaha ttr 250s with long range fuel tanks. Not the fastest of machines but you cant kill them and they dont use much fuel.Still able to cruise at 80klm an hour on horrendous corrugations.:-)
Pretty sure if you weld the front and rear diff closed on a old chevy blazer or ford explorer and lift it little with bigger tires it would be able to do everything you see here. Would be cheaper to do that buying a toyota like this, since they typically run you a fortune even with 250K miles on them. People think they are made of gold.
Michael G mate in australia ford explorers and chevy blazers are considerd jokes the exporer was named the exploder pmsl i work in remote areas all over Australia and Landcruisers dominate pretty much have done for 30 years there is not a vhicle out there that has proven to do a better job some ccompaniesdid try f250s and all kinds of stuff but they all just rattled to bits ! its tough and hot out here and u need a vehicle to do the job

Pray allah! Vechile of choice? LandCruiser then Patrol and sometimes the Land rover defender modded. NO jeeps, NO german, NO Korean etc
@jrg10332 jeeps are a laughing stock here in Australia. They're half the price of LandCruisers and still can't even compete because no one here wants to die in the outback two days away from the next town because their unreliable jeep broke down. LandCruisers also dominate the high country and snowy regions of Australia. Our high country is just as rugged if not more than yours and the high country in Africa is insane. You only seem to know about how harsh your country is but you haven't seen anything like the wilderness in Australia, where if you don't plan things out and have the right gear, there is a severe chance you will die alone in the middle of nowhere and no one will ever find you. Once upon a time jeeps were incredible offroaders and you could rely on them getting you home safe, but those days are long gone. These days people who know what they're doing around the world use LandCruisers, patrols, defenders, and hiluxs.
@jrg10332 highest elevation in Africa is 5895 metres and Australia is just under 2300 metres. Not exactly flat. Australia also has all the same options North America has for buying off-road vehicles and still refuse to buy American because they suck. The richest middle eastern countries all buy Toyotas and Nissans as well and put them through their paces. No one outside of North America thinks Jeeps are any good these days, but Asia, the middle east, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, South Pacific countries, Russia and South America love LandCruisers, and will buy a LandCruiser over a keep when given the choice. All of these places have much harsher land than North America.
@@rickdunbar2319 Sure you can set vehicles up to climb big hills, but live in harsh Australian outback with it for a year, loaded up and doing real work day in day out, and watch your vehicle fall apart. Mate we've tried them all, these hold up the best.
