It's saddening to me to know that this doesn't have no where near the number of views I feel it deserves. I personally love this version of the Song Of Healing. In all honesty Majora's Mask had some of the most moving music out of any Zelda. You've recreated something beautiful my friend. I've listened to this repeatedly. Thank you :) and don't worry about your introvertedness.
These simple 6-8 note tunes have stuck with me for all these years, remixed or not i can still remember the emotions from them as a child.
Thank You, Iceferno!!
@Orpheonix Thanks :) Yeah, I tried to add more originality into this one, but quite sneakily. heheh. Glad you enjoyed.
Thank u for making this
Nearing the end of 2022, and it's been one helluva ride.
Thankfully, Iceferno has been here providing us with Wonderful Music!
@Barrioth Yeah I suppose. It's more of an intro really and about bringing the sounds in. Anyways glad you liked it :)
To quote myself from the Zora's Domain remix: "I'm trying to define the word Rebuild in some way. It's like a reconstruction, but goes a little further with originality."
@AronAgmar Thanks! It's 9 months since it was originally started, but damn am I glad I got it finished. I basically started with the piano heard around 3:18. It seemed appropriate for the sad feeling of the song. It's quite haunting and slightly out-of-tune, but just enough that it doesn't disturb the listener. I then came back to it this month and continued on from there. :)
The best Song of Healing remix I've ever heard.
I like a change in a song, remixes are ways to express yourself through the songs you love, so, thanks for uploading this.
"Whenever there is a meeting, a parting shall follow. But that parting need not last forever. Whether a parting be forever or merely for a short while... that is up to you."
-Happy Mask Salesman
I think I got that right. Let me know. :)
100%
Not only moving in the world of Zelda, but I believe in the entire world of gaming.
I heard this remix long ago. As the years passed, I could never seem to find it. For a while, I thought it was gone from this site, and I just needed to move on. But look where I am now, here it is. It's not just some memory, I can hear it and feel it once more. Thank you, just thank you so much for this beautiful take on a timeless song.
Whenever I feel sad or I suffer pain or other bad things I came here to listen to that soundtrack which will try to help me heal my wounds.
Me too... 😔 This is the song of healing's effect
Me Too!
Too right
i happen to like it very much and have listened to it about 5 times today
well, I think that's what People were expecting, but Giving the Mask itself it's own manifestation was a Genius ending, It added a whole new layer of story to the game.
I've known of this remix for about 7 years. Today I actually sat and listened to the entire thing, I wish I did it sooner now. Beautiful.
Well it is. Remix is the standard term. I call them rebuilds because they usually incorporate a lot of the original song with new elements. The Song Of Healing remixes are different, as they are almost entirely their own thing. Different keys, and "too happy", according to some people.
Well, it's different. Sometimes that's what you need with a remix.
Thanks. It'd be interesting to do a remix that does take the original in another direction, but I'm satisfied recreating for the most part. Not to mention this is UA-cam where there are thousands of 'rebuilds' that don't really do much with the original song but add some custom bass and percussion to it. I'd like to come back to a few of these later, like Astral Observatory, and take a different approach.
quite lovely, and to have this to come out on my birthday. it's a shame I wasn't listening to this music back then
Exactly! I'm glad you get it.
this could be a theme of an ice dungeon
Sam Mayston what about a fire ice dungeon?
Or a black iced dungeon with a black fired boss?
another great piece... your music is astounding to me... i can feel the nostalgic moments in my life by hearing this music... majora's mask was easily my favorite zelda game of them all and you bring that memory back with this music... keep up the good work... i hope to hear more music from you in the future...
Thanks dude :) Hope I can make more of these soon.
It's possible the salesman was a descendant of the Majora tribe. But maybe he was good. Or maybe he was just the Giles of this game. lol He understood the mask's power and how no one can really control it. I think what could've been really menacing is if Ganon got a hold of the mask. Imagine something more evil than the Ganon monster from OOT.
Of course you could! Hell, your work here is simply awesome! Koji Kondo would be proud. And you have very nice ideas too!
Wow. This is an amazing remix. o_o
Damn so magical, I wanna back to the times when I was holding that golden cartridge for the first time T.T
I think I only ever borrowed the gold cart from a friend. Got the Collector's Edition and 3DS versions though. :P
bruh it was holographic like my charizard
That may have just been the US release.
Thanks. You know, for a song with the word Healing in the title, you'd think people could understand how ridiculous the "too happy" arguement is.
Thanks :) Nice to not have a comment criticizing me for it being too different (I've been getting a lot of those lately).
Into the light from the darkness, with this tune, played from an ocarina, the path will be lit and peace ,light ,and serenity will flood the world.
Wow.. This is completely amazing.. Extremely mesmerizing.. I love it Ice!!
This Is So Relaxing...
Amazing Job On The Wallpaper
These rebuilds are mind blowing. The art in the videos, equally so. Thanks for sharing it! :)
Amazing. Sound like a quiet evening of self-reflection on a wintery night to me. So soothing....
Really great job! I subbed and favourited!
When i look for Zelda remix I look for sonething like that , good job the guy Who did it
love this picture
can't...stop...pressing....replay....writing..stuff..to..zelda...remix. awesome job ;D
Loved this :)
This is the BEST remix 💖 ♠️
Incredible.
Awesome
Awesome remix! I love it!
Hello there Iceferno!
I *finally* got around to listening to your interpretation of "Song of Healing", and I must say this: it solidly pays tribute to the source material while quickly soaring on it's own.
When I hear this, it's as if i'm walking through a rather extravagant mansion possible only in my dreams.
I suppose there might be masks flying about, like the boss remains. Maybe the boss would be an evil version of the mask salesman. I could totally work for Nintendo.
wish i could produce something half as good as this in FL. One day! (Y)
lol Interesting story. I read something about a secret ocarina song in OOT a few years ago.
When I think of this game, all I can think of is one of the best games I have ever had the joy to play. The best game in my childhood :D.
For some reason this one version...Doesn't scare me like the others it kinda makes me happy ^^
You sir, are amazing, please continue to do great works.
Suprisingly good. Majora's Mask is fantastic. This is easily going in my favourites.
@xxxzeldaxxxful The way you've phrased that makes it seem like I'm Koji. lol I'm Clouddrifter (for this genre, anyway), the little guy near the end of the title :P But I thank you for your comment :) I still find it hard to believe one guy said this remix was shit. I ignore the dislikes since most videos get them, and I am, for the most part, a modest guy, but this is one of the few remixes I am supremely proud of. So anyways, as I said, thankyou!
Quite beautiful and inspiring....
You should remix the entire ost lmao i always have all of your mm remixes on me at all times. Favorite remixer ever.
so peaceful
thx for this awesome picture
Beautiful Work
This song has such a trippy sound to it. I'm in love with your work!
Maybe The Best Remix I've Ever Heard
This is so very beautiful! I'm mesmerized!
I knew your profile image looked familiar
@Ragitsu Thanks! Nice to know what you visualize too. A bit similar to what I thought and I can see how it matches the song. :)
I'm not saying people think it's bad. I'm just saying it shouldn't need to be a specific way. Interpretations can be whatever they want to be. It's a remix, not the original. Don't make me argue about this.
Reading that, I suddenly thought of Zelda 2's Temple theme. Then I thought "Temple Of Healing". That'd be pretty surreal lol I wonder what the enemies and boss would be.
This is my favorite song from the zelda series and I'm happy that there is such a good remix of it
Give as you have freely been given.
Been years since I've heard this remix. Still love it
Fantastic stuff, this is really good to relax and chill out to, welldone.
Thanks :) I consider it my best Zelda remix and it'll be hard to surpass it for awhile, I reckon.
Yes, Sir. This Resonates Spectacular.
@f17coolplane Thanks! :) Gonna try and get another remix up today. Not Zelda, but a different game with a gorgeous soundtrack.
Thanks :) Give the 2012 Build a listen too. It's similar and different at the same time. A kind of alternate mix. I'm considering a similar thing for other Zelda tunes I've already remixed. I think a 2nd version of Zora's Domain is the most likely.
I love the feeling of this remix. Its great for writing!
love it
Thank you for your ratings and comments. If you're a fan of Zelda, you should check out this page facebook.com/pages/BEN-Feature-film/564131003606186 This is for an upcoming adaptation of Ben Drowned which I'm composing for. You can watch some trailers and previews on the MichaelLeroi channel.
WOOOW Great !!!
this gives me nice and tingly feelings of nostalgia :)
Now that was a great listen, another subtle masterpiece; this one is definitely unique in the sense that the tonal shift, by nature of the tune itself, is comprised partly of sadness. But you've nailed it with your approach once again; always fresh and a pleasure to listen to!
As long as it's more than just Zelda, I'm happy.
I think it'd be a 2-composer job. There are some themes I would find difficult to replicate, some another might be able to manage. So someone who had a similar vision to me, could come up with the great remakes that I can't.
Honestly i don't think its too "happy" i think he just made it sound a lot more soothing, which in my opinion, is the very purpose for which the song was created, hence why its one of the only, lets call it "happy" songs in the game. Btw love this remix, thx for the upload ^^
There's a second version too. :) Give the 2012 Build a try.
@dissident93 Interesting interpretation. I always imagined, for the beginning at least, a child running through a hospital. Those melancholy lullaby-like chimes seemed to give me that kind of atmosphere.
This is very calming Music! I love it!!
@neoncutie It's one of the more viable requests I've had (I've also thought of doing it). Hopefully soon I can, just need to gather the ideas. :)
I can´t do anything but visualize this as one of the songs of a soundtrack for a zelda platformer in 2-D.
Amazing. You certainly have an ear for music. You've earned my friendship :D
Well, there's bound to be an orchestral version out there. I like to do things a little differently.
You and Theophany are the greatest at Majora's Mask remixes!!
Sounds Swift.... Godspeed, and good luck!
Repect for you my friend, a masterpiece of melody!!
This is a bit off-topic, but I wish they would make two console Zeldas a gen: one would be the Ocarina of Time, the big-budget, push-the-boundaries-release, and the other would be the Majora's Mask, the darker, more thoughtful, more offbeat and existential entry. They should at least try for it.
I think that Majora's Mask came out the way it did because of th exact circumstances surrounding development, and that's part of the magic. But i don't think we should want that as a main theme among Zelda games, because it isn't the essence of the series. So having one like that is cool and new, but no more than that.
Three years late but.. They -did- do that with Wind Waker then Twilight Princess. It certainly pushed the boundries but stayed light hearted. It was something that made me grin uncontrollably as a lad but then Twilight Princess rolled around.. There was always an eerie essence of despair around it, though it remained light hearted at parts there's themes of death all over the place, Think Ordon village. As soon as those kids got snatched the parents were in a frenzy, They were angry, They wanted blood, Fado went out constantly to find em but when he didn't come back with them.. They were freaking out, They were worried. You even met the deceased hero of time, Took on his skills and his sorrows for the sake of saving the world. And by the end, when everything was done... You had to say goodbye to probably one of the closest friends you met on your journey.
In a way.. Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild were of the same.
Skyward sword, though I haven't played it all the way through due to losing my copy had a distinct theme about it, The world was cheery and it was one where you could push the boundries of the world to the limit, You shaped Hyrule, You shaped what it became before it had truly bloomed into the beast we know today. Once again, pushing the boundries above the sky.
Now this next one is a tad of a stretch. Since many consider the Wii U to be a simple extension of the wii. I'm still saying it's around the same gen. (despite breath of the wild being the send off of the wii u and the launch title of the switch.)
In breath of the wild they went all in with the darker tone, The world was in a state of doom, Dystopia even, It was a story of burden of confusion, Of memories lost and forgotten and a world that you had to go in mostly alone, You had people after you, Assassins who only want you dead, and by extension had done attrocities for the name of the very man you had to set out to kill, There were horrible things that happened over the hundred years you were out of commision for, Everyone you knew was dead or on their way out, Besides say for.. Zelda, i suppose. You even supposedly had a family back then. A father, a mother (and if concept art is something to talk about.) A sister.
This was a theme that overarched for awhile, A theme that may of been said to stretch back to the first two zelda games.
Kinda weird when you think about it.
Day to night, dark to light,
Fall the sands of time.
Let the years like the gears
Of a clock unwind
In your mind walk through time
Back to better days.
Memories, like a dream,
Wash your tears away.
Like a star in the sky darkness can't reach you.
Light the night, joy is light 'til the new dawn.
---
Cast away your old face
Full of gloom and spite.
With this mask I will ask
To borrow your light.
Forgive your friend: when skull kid got left alone by the giants and went on a rampage then stumbled across the happy mask salesman and found Majoras mask. He... Put... it... on.
@Knallpuffen Thanks! I'm having trouble thinking of ones to do next :P I think I've near-enough exhausted all my favourite Majora's Mask songs. Maybe I can get another from OOT done, but I'd like to move onto other games at some point.
God dammit, why are your Zelda remixes so good?
You've definitely made this one your own, very different sound and feel from the original. Especially at the piano starts at 2:21
Keep up the Majora mixes man!
That's some creative thinking. :)
This is amazing. So beautiful; there are so many memories coming back to me. So many mixed emotions. The nostalgia is killing me, but I love it.
One of my favorite remixes of this song! It also reminds me of the Ice Cavern song on Final Fantasy 9 :P
+Arkyfire Ah yeah, I can see the connection. Thanks :)
