A couple years ago one of the guys I went to school with had a detached garage built and needed me to come up with a way for the light on the garage exterior to be switched from the house and garage, and for there to be some receptacles in the garage always hot, using only 12/2 UF in between. I ended up running two runs, one for power, the other for travellers, which I had phase taped the black and white, red and blue respectively. You could essentially use this trick to wire a dead end three way with a neutral available, or use 14/4 or 12/4.

Thank you for all your videos Mr Jackson, huge fan! Quick question for you. 120v under cabinet lighting with a whip that is designed to be plugged into an outlet. Can the splice between the switch leg and the luminaire whip be in open air under the cabinet? I cannot find a code anywhere prohibiting this even though it seems like it should be a violation.

If you ever have run into an open neutral, you will know why using the ground for a neutral is a BAD idea!
