I haven't been posting lately as Mr Batzilla and I have been sneezing and coughing for the past couple of weeks now but we're finally on the upswing.
Anyway, back to business and todays business is 16 week old Miss Acacia who was caught in large aperture slice and dice netting.
Rescued by Lauren and now in care with us, we will have to wait and see what sort of membrane damage she has incurred due to the constriction of the netting.
Please never use any netting you can poke a finger through and instead choose shade cloth type netting or 5mm netting.
Although local flowering has improved immensely, it's always the young and the very old who struggle through winter and it's never too late to change over to safe, sustainable, wildlife friendly netting .

Darling Acacia with the "scalloped" ear. I really hope that netting didn't harm her and she turns out alright. She's much too young and beautiful ~❤

Sorry to hear you were ill. I hope someone took care of you as well as you take care of these sweet batties. Acacia is a sweet little girl. If she had to end up in rehab, I’m glad she ended up with you. She’ll be right as rain in no time. Keep feeling better!
Precious girl. Thank you for helping them!!
What a gorgeous girl she is. So happy she is in care and hydrating. That kind of netting needs banning and fines.🖤🇨🇦

She so cute 😭😭😭🌷
She hesitated dinking after you mentioned her “gnarly ears” as if to say “Hey! Enough about my ears. I’m very self conscious.”
Continue feeling better Mrs. Batzilla, sorry you weren't well last couple of weeks.🥺💕💕
Glad you are back and feeling better ❤
Oh how she looked up at you when you said her ear was gnarly, like really? Ahh they are so precious.
Is there an instruction on the netting to say that it's not bat or bird friendly. Would it be worth asking the manufacturer about this. ?
The netting wars have been ongoing for many years and many people have contributed to get us to this point. Generally speaking, manufacturers want to make money and in Australia, netting is big business as we enjoy a sub tropical climate that allows us to grow lots of different varieties of fruit. It really gets down to educating the consumer so they make more responsible decisions and support wildlife friendly products.
