This was awesome to see... I'm in the midst of shooting my own one-man movie and while gear is fun and of course a good story/mood is key! I love watching/hearing about the behind the scenes of putting it all together... the execution! Thank you so much... Ironically (maybe, lol ) I'm a retired COP served 27 years in a major City and kudos for nailing the vibe... but my own movie is set in a near future dystopian world.. No police stories for me... enough Cop stuff for me to last a life time...hahaha
Excellent breakdown. I agree with you that mood is very important, because mood speaks to character motivation and the kind of story you're telling. I think your reveals were excellent. When I saw the detective use his feet to measure distance, I figured at that moment that he knew more than the audience. As far as the ring goes, I think he went back to the scene because at the time of the murder he may have been rushed to leave the scene. And when he was startled by the birds made me think he may have been startled a similar way when he committed the crime, causing him to leave before getting the ring. Which ties his behavior back to the crime itself. Thanks again for the inspiration.
Thank you so much for the comment! This is exactly why I love to leave gaps in my stories! I love to hear what others’ imaginations fill them in with. Thank you!
It's Amazing Ryan, you involve all your family in your films! I think it must be so funny all the BTS, i'm imagining your wife telling you, Ryan, my ring, take care, my "treasure"...what's next, if you loose it prepare for sleeping in the sofa.... 😂 I love the way you tell not only the story but also how you explain everything with that emotion, you love what you do! Merry Christmas from Spain my friend!
That’s not far off, Nacho! Sometimes I get on their nerves always asking them to be involved in my films. Thank you for the kind comments! Merry Christmas to you!
You videos help so much, one of the best filmmaker channels out there! Giving just the amount of help we need! I tried filmic pro and realised it made my short film look like a movie! Also is there any other free apps that give a movie look on a phone? Cause I don’t like the change of paying to export videos on filmic pro. One last thing! Please make a sequel for 2AM!
Thank you so much! The built in camera apps on most phones can do a good enough job. Sadly, there aren’t too many free ones out there that give you much functionality.
Thank you so much! I have a video that covers my color grading process, you can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/IWQUGTDpJCA/v-deo.html After that process, I just applied one of my horror luts and adjusted to look the best. Hope this helps!
@@RyanCampFilms I also have another question! Would the effects be good and would it be good if I eddited everything on final cut pro X or is adobe after effects and adobe premier better to edit it on?

Mood is 100% more important than story!!!!Most of my favourite films have very subjective stories, but definite bold atmospheric moods!!!
😎same here!
No doubt.. the 1st Halloween music score set the tone throughout.
Mood can save a bad movie for me
Great to hear the thought process behind a solo production. I definitely prefer mood over plot, especially in a short film. thanks for sharing!
Thank you!

There's a bridge like that in south west washington state near the columbia river.
Very cool design!
New sub, great vid🎉
Thank you!
Hello, have you ever consider filming on 16mm film stock and if you do what would be your considerations ? Thanks
Hello Vic! That would be a cool experience, but it’s not something I’ve ever looked into doing. Have you? Sorry for the late reply!
thanks for the video and nice movie, can i know how long it took in color grading and what you did in it

What did you use to edit all the visual effects?
For this one, Adobe Premiere or After Effects
@@RyanCampFilms I also have another question! Would the effects be good and would it be good if I eddited everything on final cut pro X or is adobe after effects and adobe premier better to edit it on?
@ I haven’t used Final Cut in so long, I would be a terrible person to ask. I actually recently switched to Resolve myself.
@@RyanCampFilms whats Resolve?
What the movie title
Trophies.
I am trying to start a short horror film the name of it is ( MIMIC THE VOICES )
Awesome! Do you have the story finished yet?
Ok
I haven't started it as yet
But I will do it before halloween
Watch it on Halloween night 🌙
