Those original seats came up a treat... Just goes to show with some work you can keep old trim going rather than buying in new... I think it's fine if you are doing a complete re build putting in new.. but if it's an older restoration or running restoration then reusing the existing trim is the way to go, the car has a nice worn looked after look... Great vlog, keep up the good work 👌

I sprayed the base runners with zinc galvanising spray. Makes for a nice close to original finish.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha "Cursing like a Grimsby fish hag" that has to be my quote of the week and one which I may use myself. Another fine quality video, the only exception being the proper use of profanity. This job was way to easy for you, please go back to doing Freelander 2 wheelbearings and suspension!

Good job looks comfy - those front seats, particularly the seats do go saggy! Like the voice over.

Most interesting - I've always thought re-trimming was a bit of a dark art, but your film was most instructive, even if I don't own a Stag! I wonder if there are similar foam kits for the box-pleat seat style used on the Rover P6 from 1971 onwards?

those P6 Box pleat seats were extra nice to look at. Try some specialists such as Nationwide Trim.

Thanks very much. Like the work you've done on the early Range Rovers. I recall back in the 90s when I lived in UK visiting a chap up north to look at a classic car and he had a pre-production Range Rover he was restoring, it was blue if I recall and the bulkhead and front inner wings and floors were in a terrible state with rust.

Nice job, helpful as I'm just halfway through the same job. Perhaps worth noting that the unpleasant stickiness of the destroyed foam washes off with a damp sponge, more easily than I expected.

As the centre foams are often ok, you might get away with not disturbing the middle part of the cover-it worked on mine, and made it fairly easy to pull the cover edges back on without wrinkles.

I did consider that but was worried about the super fragile tension strips parting company.

@@churchhouseclassics A good point. I judged that they would be safer left undisturbed, and perhaps I wouldn't have been able to get everything back unwrinkled. Also, the foams I used were from a different supplier and were the slightly softer plastic type rather than the rubber that you used, so it was easy to tuck the foam into the edge of the centre bit without unduly stressing the fragile straps. I was a bit doubtful about the foam, but it looks and feels fine with the cover refitted.

+1 Sticky, gooey and utter shite.
It so odd the way the one color of foam disinigrates. Same phenomena exists in GT6/TR6 seats. If they would have cut them all from white or red foam aparently the job wouldn't have had to be done.

My TR 6 seats must of been the exception to the rule. The covers were all different shades of new tan. The rubber base had gone, so both seat centers were shot. I bought a new set of foam but they only did American ones at Rimmer's at the time. He used new bottom foams but the backs just needed a little help to shape and he put in a new handmade leather interior for me.... It looked stunning!!
