      The '60's-'70's, rhe era of Singer/Songwriters, and the widest range of diverse music genres, all great, on rheir own way!
      Never to happen again!
      We were blessed to have grown up with so much awesome music!
      The new generations need schooling on what constitutes good music.
      They appreciate it!

      @@Iansco1 They're young. Can't hold that against them. This song came out at least 10 years before they were born and they haven't had much time to catch up on great music considering their age. But they're on that journey and that's commendable.

      @@Iansco1 Fair enough. I didn't know Bootsie by name either the first time I heard this 20 years ago even if I'd heard a lot his playing. Though as a hip hop fan growing up in the 90's I knew Q-Tip well and his verse always made the song for me.
      It seems shocking for us old folks that people haven't heard this stuff. But were you listening to Jerry Lee Lewis in your teens? Do you even today know who played bass in his band?

    You can tell in the 90’s that the nostalgia was the 60’s and 70’s.

    • @dreamweaver1603
      @dreamweaver1603 3 роки тому +6

      Yes it was. And in the 70s when I was a kid there was a lot of nostalgia about the 50s.
      I think it’s always 20 years back because that’s when the people creating the art at that time were younger. So we had shows like Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley set in the 50s, and long skirts below the knees.
      I’m not sure what else because I was just a kid, but the 80s were when the baby boomers were running things and there was a lot of nostalgia for the 60s and Summer of Love, the Beatles, tie dye, Vietnam, protests, etc.
      Then in the 90s bell bottoms and hip huggers and long straight hair from the 70s came back in style.

    • @MarvinMonroe
      @MarvinMonroe 3 роки тому +4

      Fore sure! 1950s were huge when I was a little kid in the 80s also. Back to the Future, La Bamba, Stand By Me, Hoosiers, tons more movies about the 50s.

    I saw them perform live back in the day and I can attest that the message at the end is soooo true : "Dee-lite have definately been known to smoke... on stage, that is"

    Golly I’ve been watching couples and single people reacting to Dee-Lite and once like 3 second into the actual song. They be busting their grooves hahaha such youth. God I miss the mid 70’s.

    In the 80s-90s there were never any fights; we were too busy sweatin' out of our clothes lol! There was so much great music that we would literally dance from 9pm to 2am! Great times and everybody out to dance and have fun!! ... it's a little sad that violence is such a normal thing for the younger generations.

    This video is from 1990, but it was done in a psychedelic style from 30 years prior to look like the 1960s. I remember I was a young teen in 1990 when this song/video came out, and I was like, what is up with the 1960s vibes and 1960s clothing on these people? lmao

    Everyone is shouting out about Q-Tip & bassist Bootsy Collins in this video. That’s great, they’re great. But it should be noted that Maceo Parker (sax) is in this video too. He also got his start with James Brown back in the 60’s, and is responsible for some of the most recognizable (and sampled) sax solos in funk music. Like Collins, he was also a member of Parliament-Funkadelic in the mid-70’s. Over the last few decades, he’s continued to play with some of the world’s best musicians and musical acts.

    I lost two classmates sr. Year 1994 from shootings at a gathering...it happened back then too. This was in SLC UT. Not what you would call a high crime city but still has their gang and shooting problems.

    This was a huge song at raves where people used to take E. I remember being at a club in NYC and Lady Miss Kier (the female singer) was DJing some songs and she was rolling on E so hard. People were handing out E like it was candy. They had a cold room and bottles of water. What a great night. I remember this one girl asking me to help carry her boyfriend to the cold room and I just picked this guy up off the floor like he weighed nothing (E can make you strong sometimes lol) and carried him in there and tossed her some water and they were fine. I left part of my brain and my soul at that old dumpy warehouse with them hundreds of spaced out ppl all singing and dancing like nothing mattered. Great times.

    I remember back in the '90s that all the clubs had big gain screens where they would play these kinds of songs and everybody was dancing by themselves and in groups.

    You are right... The eighties and early nineties was a different world. Everyone was just happy and out to have fun. It was literally rude to fight or be mad lol.. We all had so much fun.. Just dance and party.. Drugs were there lol, but it was just all fun. I miss it. Great reaction. Thank you. 😊
