@@claudemartin5907 Das, was du wahrscheinlich als französisch verstanden hast, ist 'dies irae'. Das ist latein und bedeutet 'tage des zorns' und wird oft als metapher für die apokalypse verwendet.

@@Agent_Ste It's "Wake of a Nation"-- a memorial of the death of a nation. "The King Is Dead" refers to the nation itself, I think.
The figure of God, the US, the good society of wellthinkers.
The title is a mockery of the infamous american movie Birth Of A Nation, and whatever ideals it had in it.
The song's lyrics speak a call to war directed to all the oppressed that built the US in slavery and anguish against their former masters and their much beloved institutions.
It says "the king is dead" because the whole formula requires to answer "long live the king (or queen)" as a recognition of the new monarch taking the place of the dead one.
Holy shit, that album is for sure the best thing that happenned in 2020.

This album and Bob Vylan's We Live Here are fucking amazing and way up there for album of the year if you ask me. Both fucking heavy in music, lyrics and context. Both saying things more people need to hear much more often.
