Me: "Wow! Hear the difference!"
My girlfriend: "Sounds the same."
My girlfriend: "Is that a guitar or a bass?"
@@erestube Yup. Kinda funny how guys play guitar to get chicks, but the women don't really care about the music...
The best comment ever!
@Dave Carpenter Yeah, she's like "would you know the difference between a bass and a regular guitar just by looking, I mean not by sound but do they look different? See this is actually a good thing, here's why: I have had women fall madly in love with me before, because they thought they were getting a great musician, then they lost interest and broke my heart after about a month. That happened many times... The lady I'm with now however, has stuck with me for a few years already, so there's none of that "omg I'm dating an artist" infatuation.
I laughed so hard at this. I am a gear guy and my wife always says every amp/pedal/guitar i get sounds the same!
Maybe the most underrated Boss pedal ever.
Absolutely, its my tubescreamer booster ha!,need another for cab simulation duty last in chain
maybe the most inflationary comment ever...:-)
The flanger HF-2 high band flange. It only flanges the high frequency and leaves the low end clean. It's the pedal all chours pedals wish they could be!
Swiss army pedal. Have mine to make my ODs sound like a real amp. This is everything your pedalboard is missing.
Underrated? They’ve sold OBSCENE amounts of this pedal! 🙄
The Guitar Borneo's "no talking" method is unrivaled. It's absolutely fantastic. Thank you guys.
Hear hear
One of the most useful vids ive come across. Bravo.
I've had this pedal for 30 years. This video is outstanding.
do you use it and love it? i'm deciding wether to buy it used or new.... but seeing you've had it for 30 years, might as well buy it new.
The fuzz / wah effect alone makes it worth it. 6:03
It's one of only 3 pedals I use or need.
EQ can do a lot for a cheap set of pickups.
Great video, what a relief to get usable information without thousands of boring speak and selfpromotion. THANKS
,,no talking” buys me sooo much!
If you play slide, you can set every other slider full blast, and every other one all the way down to get a dobro like sound.
that was so great. thanks! i didn't want that to end. cheers for sharing your expertise on this. i learnt a lot. i have a GE-7 and am still learning of its greatness. well done!
I like the GE-7’s versatility best on my small board. Thanks for a great review, and a great review style.
i like the "V" SOUND..
the most underrated pedals of all...
THANKS FOR VIDS!!!!
I use a GE-7 at the end of my chain before the amp, just to boost the signal for solos, riffs, emphasizing a particular part. etc. It's also great after a distortion or overdrive pedal to shape the distortion by , say, giving it more mids if necessary or boosting the bass frequencies. Really useful little gadget.
they are all useful ! does it work best in a loop? assuming the amp has one
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
I've just used some of your settings at a local band practise. ...what a difference and feel to the guitar sound!
Just amazing!!
Tip here for strat users who want to turn their guitar into semi hollow: Use the semi hollow settings as described in the video just a bit more to low end as you please for example: 100 maxed (+15)-200 noon (0) -400 just below noon (-3-5), in the second position of your guitar (mid+bridge). TA TAA!
How can you get clock positioning out of a vertical slide??
@@rikkitikkitavi3118 not important mate, u probably get what i mean.
Nice video. Proof that actions speak louder than words.
This was excellent! I'll buy this exact EQ pedal, so this was very helpful. I will definitely experiment a lot, watching this video and trying it out myself, to hear what it does to the sound on my amp.
Best demo of the pedal I have seen on YT!
Woah the semi hollow suggestion worked really well when I tried it. Such a useful pedal!
This is one of my most favorite pedals . I use it as a booster add to contour my tone
Thank you for these illustrative videos. Amazing!! My questions about these pedal where answered after the video. Thank guys
Excellent video, thank you for demonstrating and teaching this, it is one of the best videos I saw in this year 2021, greetings from Tierra del Fuego ARGENTINA, sincerely, Nicolas
Of all the pedals that I got modded, this one was the best. Running on 18 volts truly made a difference in clarity and headroom, highly recommend it if you’re a fan of this pedal in the long run
Ever since I got this pedal. My quest for single analog pedals really went from 10 to 1! this is like a Swiss knife for effect pedals or amps.
Super cool video! Thanks a lot! Finally found the way to make that “aneurysm by nirvana” tone with that telephone sound. Cheers! Best regards from Japan!
I’m speechless! thank you so much!
EQ is life. I use my GE-7 in add of my Boss CE-1 chorus into a Fender Supersonic 22 set flat (bass 5 -treble 5) with a Les Paul neck pick up to shape my Metallica clean tone and it works amazing.
This pedal is gold and this demo too !! 👊🏻💀👊🏻
Good demo. Thank you!
You're a CRACK!! thank you so much for that amazing review, there's a lot of time underneath that video!! 💪🎸⚡💥
Fantastic pedal demo.
Awesome video! I'm using mine as the first pedal up front, before the signal hits a noise gate, compressor and the amp. I use it to boost mids and cut low and high frequencies (-10, -5, 0, +5, 0, -5, -10). I play superstrats with hot pickups into a modern sounding amp. These settings allow me to retain a lot of clarity even at high distortion. The sound will even cut through diamonds.
This Video deserves to be in youtube's ALL TIME Classic videos. COngrats to GUITAR BONEDO for this video!
This is a great video, no fuss and it helps! Thanks
thats cool, after using this tool since decades, i learned a lot from this video, greets pedalboots
Very useful video!! Thank you for sharing this🙏👌
This VID is magnificient !!! I have one, it's lying in it's cupboard but it really really needs a fixed spot on my new pedal board !!!!
Really useful. Thx for posting!
This is so helpful, thanks so much!
Finally an useful video. Great job.
For a non switchable amp like a tweed deluxe, I set the gain to distorted on the amp, then bump down the level on the ge7 to make it clean. So if you’re playing ramble on by led zep, you can DESELECT the pedal to get your high gain chorus. Kind of backwards thinking, it rules!
like rolling off the volume on the guitar, but with a buffer and selectable EQ options. i used to use a passive box with a switch and pots in it for a really caveman version of that.
thats a really good idea
Great video, really helpful, many thanks 👍👍
Super-informative. Thank you!
Simple, fast. Thank you
🎉🎉🎉🎉 Que pasada, me parece un vídeo muy instructivo. Buenísimo.
Más vídeos como este por favor, muchísimo mejor que los que sólo muestran el sonido.
It's a great video with no time wasting at all. I use most of these ideas myself. But I don't think one has to go to extreme settings like 15dB boosts or cuts (except for the telephone effect maybe). The desired effects can be achieved with more subtile settings that do not mangle or warp your signal as much.
06:50 A sound that has 15dB cut at 800Hz will be very hard to mix and will need help stay present in a dense mix. I think it would enough to drop 800Hz just enough so that this frequency drops below the other instruments in that range for that effect to work.
This is just amazing. Thank you.
Just got mine yesterday 🤘
Great job with that pedal🎸
Killer vid showing all these options. I have always felt if I had to pick one single desert-island 'effect', it would be EQ. So versatile!
NICE!!! Thanks for the video!
That is some versatility; massive bang for the buck. EXCELLENT REVIEW!
Great video. Learned a lot.
Fantastic video. Thanks!
Awesome video! Makes me consider the Ge-200...
Fantastic video - thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
This is so helpful! New subscriber!
Muy buen video. Se agradecen los datos.
Terrific video 🤘
In the loop it works magic. Making drastic improvements from the pre-amp section which are amplified in the powersection.Getting rid of fizz and beef up the overall sound.
Great inexpensive pedal.
Is it ok to set them up in series with delay and chorus after eq??
@@jhonpasquez6145 yes, highly recommended since it's the proper way for time based effects, especially in the loop.
Inexpensive? It's one of the priciest EQs out there.
@@AimingWanderously Cheaper than buying a new amp which is what putting this in the effect loop does.
I get it, but my reply was to the statement "great inexpensive pedal" which it is not inexpensive. Great, yes, I have one, but it's expensive relatively speaking. Rock on! @@johnegan4762
Great vid mate!
I've had two of these just sitting around while I've gone thru every OD and boost in existence.
Great video, thank you!!
This works for vocal EQ, live solo shows as well. I run a guitar cable quarter inch to the vocal input of the QSC CP12, then
use an xlr female to quarter inch mic cable, into the output of this equalizer and to the mic cable.
GE-7 really can do A LOT.
Great job bro !!❤
Best demo ever!
That bassman / strat combo sound good
EQ is extremely invaluable to change the voicing of overdrives/distortions when placed _before_ those pedals.
Boost Bass to get a looser/more fuzz-like voicing; cut to make it tighter and snappier.
Boost Treble to get crunchier and grittier; cut to get smoother and creamier.
Want more of a singing lead tone? Boost bass, cut treble before your OD/DS. Want tight, precise palm muted chugs? Cut bass, boost treble.
I'm a little confused with two of these, would i not want to boost treble to for a fuzz-like voicing? Especially like a Big Muff sound
Also since I'm not into metal/heavy rock, the palm muted chugs trick also feel like the opposite of what you would want to do. Wouldn't I want to thicken my lower mids and bass for those kinda riffs?
Would be great if you can explain it to me//
It has to do with how the frequency content of the source signal interacts with the clipping from the distortion and the kinds and frequencies of the harmonics that will generate, since you changing the signal _before_ the distortion.
By emphasizing bass, you're most emphasizing the fundamental of the notes you're playing, and those tend to both be of a much higher amplitude and to sustain for much longer. Result of that is much more of the signal gets squashed into a square-ish wave for longer but killing a lot of the attack dynamic, essentially what fuzzes (kinda sorta) do. It will generate a bunch of harmonics, but those will start lower in the mids and go all the way to the high frequencies.
If you want tight chugs, you don't want that, you want a very defined attack. By boosting treble, you're mostly chopping off the tops of the high frequency content, that decays pretty fast, and by doing so, creating even more, even higher frequency harmonics that will enhance the attack. It also adds this "gritty", crackly character to the distortion that gives it more definition.
It's kind of counter-intuitive because it changes more of the character of the distortion than the EQ balance of the final sound.
@@EversonBernardes hmmm, not sure I get it completely but it sounds very interesting, will surely try it out,,, thanks
@@lalfakzualahnamte2021 Basically, cut bass to make the amp tighter. Lots of amps like my fender pro jr. is bouncy on its own. Also, you can brighten up humbuckers so they're not muddy.
@@lalfakzualahnamte2021 he particularly explained using the eq BEFORE ods/dist./fuzz,this changes the guitar pick up's sound and will hit those like a compresor or od depending on the setting.Again, used before any gain(pedals or amp).
Adding treble and/or cutting bass brings more pick attack on fuzzes or any sound clean or dirty.
As for the chugs, gallopings and shreddings, too much bass can mud up the tone, more so in full band rehearsals, thats why some players have used eq's before any dirt to cut a bit of bass frequency and/or add mids and or treble to tighten the attack of any od/fuzz/distortion pedals or amp distortion sound as well.
Lots of famous players have done this.
Great video!
Great video
Thank you for this.
I have this pedal, but I never use it… But not anymore! Congratulations and thank you !!
I wish I've would have known this long time ago, before buying tons of overdrive pedals (that I 'm still going to use).
I watched this video around 3 weeks ago 12/07/2021). Ok so today December 23, 2021 I came back to review this video. I was seeking out how to transform my Les Paul neck pickup into a Semi Hollow model" at 3:31 on my EQ. I think I like the tone as illustrated here at 3:31 and beyond. I just wanted to be sure or the 7 band EQ settings shown here. Now I am as I have written it all down. Thanks "Guitar Bonedo" Oh and I just SUBSCRIBED! - Peter age 71
Genius.
Thank you.
🙏🏽🙂
Great video thanks.
Great playing
Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Would love to see a similar video for a bass guitar....I own this pedal, and I’m nowhere near utilizing it to it’s full potential. Thanks for posting.
You can also get a pseudo-dobro sound by taking every other one all the way up and all the way down. So 100 all the way cut, 200 all the way up, 400 all the way down, 800 all the way up, 1.6 all the way down....etc. Learned this from a steel buddy.
Love the wah sound
thanks for this.......awesome
Perfect video
wow amazing video !!!! good gob bro~~
Fantastic. I absolutely dont need of this. Thanx!
Great video! I unfortunately don’t own a bassman. Love the tone of that clean amp and it takes boosting so well
i can recommend the joyo american sound pedal for fender amp sounds. its absolutely amazing. don't be fooled by the price.
@@martinjames7847 thanks 🙏
Excellent!
Killer recording tool. In rehearsal and live shows it works in only one configuration in every amp, but it stays on all the time
The best eq I've ever used.has alot of headroom and cleared my noisy amp up instantly. it also reduced all the noise from my pedalboard. works good with bass and guitar because the settings go extra low past zero in the -15db range.
I used to scoop the mids totally out and get a decent acoustic guitar emulation out of a strat.
I use the EQ to do the following: 1. notch out pesky frequencies for specific virtual effects like acoustic sim or Leslie ... and 2. Boost my leads ( 2K up 10 db and nothing else). That makes my solos pop out and they get loud and twangy.
That first clean tone on signal fidelity check is beautiful. Is that really the signal chain? Do you minf sharing a little bit? What is the mic and the mic position, etc..?
Coool! It doesn't sound at all prone to noise as I have read somewhere.
Very good 🎸🤟👍👌
Großartig!
Plus. the Ge7 Boss can transform and give any effect pedals colors and different sounds
sounds.
I couldn't get enough low end out of my Marshall so I bought a boss bass EQ pedal and boy did that beef up the low end growl it also doubled as a boost so I could keep channel 2 as a lead
Was the pedal always in front of the amp or also in the fx loop?
Excellent demo, well done! Can I ask you what kind of Bassman\speaker\mic did you use? Thanks a lot...
Had an almost acoustic sound in there as well!
