Interesting take! For me, I feel like the leather was one of deciding factors for me in buying my Serpenti Forever. Next to the jewelry aspect of course because the hardware and snakehead truly are like jewelry. But, as weird as that sounds, my Bvlgari bag is my best smelling bag by a long shot. I can’t really put my finger in it. It’s certainly not a generic straight up leather smell. As for Cartier and Tiffany, I’ve only ever seen them on the shelves in the boutiques and I wouldn’t feel comfortable dropping luxury money on their bags. They feel way more like an afterthought and money-grab next to their jewelry, while bvlgari has managed to establish themselves in the handbag world. If that makes sense 😅
This absolutely makes sense! Actually you've reminded me how incredible my bag smelled for a long time. I don't notice it anymore, but it definitely had a luxurious leather smell. I think you are so spot on with the jewelry focus versus leather focus I just love the details in Bulgari bags and would love one someday. I have a couple on my wishlist but they are way harder to come by preloved, so it's a waiting game. Love your candid endings ❤️

The bag you're holding is absolutely an evening bag, i almost got that style, but they now make a style that's a crossbody that has two compartments like the sholder bag with a middle zip and the zipper has a mini snake head on it. On the description, it said perfect for daywear, so maybe it's the day version? Anyways, it's size small, and it's basically a mini version of the sholder bag with a card slot holder, so it gives that demintional effect when looking at the bag. I ended up buying that version.
I was also worried about the smooth leather. Have you watched anesu sagonda's video on Bvlgari serpenti bags? She talks about how durable Bvlgari's leather is, and also the different types of bags/how they will wear. In the video she shows a cabochon bag by Bvlgari and it has grained leather, because of her video, i bought that version of the cabochon bag for my 2nd Bvlgari bag vs the new version of the bag that has the archived clasp and smooth leather.
As a luxury bag lover, i own several other brands, and Bvlgari bags are phenomenal quality. Much, much better than chanel. I honestly don't use any of my luxury brand bags for everyday bags, i use my contemporary brand bags like coach leather bags, my marc jacobs leather tote bag, and other mid tier luxury brand bags. The Bvlgari cabochon bag is much easier to wear casually vs. my Bvlgari serpenti forever crossbody bag, but i can still wear it dressed up. I use the cabochon more casually though vs the serpenti for more dresser occasions.
I'm so glad to see ppl actually make videos on them. They are SO underrated. I agree with you on almost everything you said, just not the leather quality vs leather focused brands. I think they're leather is just as high quality as celine and dior, if you get a chance, watch anesu sagonda's video on Bvlgari!!!

Sorry, I don't think I made that part of the video very clear. I absolutely agree that their leather quality is equal to Celine or Dior. I think Bulgari uses leather as a beautiful backdrop for the jewelry elements of the bag, whereas places like Celine have the leather be the star of the show. Thanks for watching! 😊
Bvlgari are my favourite, I have a green cross body one, I wear it lots and yes, it’s got scratches and some wear, but it’s so well loved. I think the Serpenti Cabachon would be a good everyday size. Thanks for sharing ❤

It’s a beautiful bag! I was able to try on the east west when I was in Italy, and it was gorgeous, but like you said, I found it quite small for what it was and the price. I’ve looking into buying one preloved though, and I’m interested in their SLGs!
I just tried on the east west style last weekend! The functionality has made me pause in buying more Bulgari bags, but I can't rule it out. I'm interested in one of their slgs too!

Definitely a statement piece! I'm the same. I'm careful not to scratch the flap, but it's been easy to keep in good condition.
