Truck Tool Box Installed Tongue Box on 2023 Runaway Venturist Camper

Welcome back to Do More That Means More! I am really excited to share our truck tool box for a tongue box install on our Runaway Venturist Camper. We might have reached the end of the internet searching for ‘THE’ box and it looks like it this one was a factory install to me.
This was a quick and easy install. We did decide to cut a piece of ½ inch plywood to fit the bottom of the box to reinforce it so it was not just the square u bolts against the bottom of the aluminum box.
We lined up the board on the trailer to create a template for where to drill the holes in the board and in the box. Then we flipped the box over and drilled from the bottom through the holes already drilled in the wood to drill the holes in the box. I also added some camper seal stripping between the box and the trailer frame for good measure so the box wasn’t sitting directly on the trailer.
This aluminum truck tool box is considered an under tonneau box. We had looked at ALL the types like wedge boxes and under body which open on the side. We had it in our heads we wanted a 72-inch box for maximum storage, the width of the camper, particularly to fit our CLAM screened in tent. After searching to the end of the internet we decided on only a 48-inch box, but this is 24 inches deep so we gained storage by it being deeper. The CLAM will store in the camper under the front shelf and the box will keep our chairs, and outdoor rug, wheel chocks, a few tools, camp stove and other odds and ends.

Well done, looks great! You could have left the standard nuts underneath the lock nuts to tighten against each other for added insurance they stay tight.
