You're legally allowed to take apart the console and remove any warranty stickers if you want. It's illegal to refuse a warranty because of that. The FTC has been arguing recently that the stickers themselves are even illegal. Microsoft entirely removed the stickers on the new console. Sony replaced them with a sticker that doesn't mention anything about warranty, to try and skirt the FTC's warnings, while just hoping the user thinks it will void their warranty. Even Sony's sticker might be illegal.
So feel free to open the PS5 up as much as you like and remove whatever stickers you want. They cannot void your warranty.

Really? because I just started a ticket to send mine in cause it won’t turn on at all (not even a blue light) and it says in the details that taking the system apart will void the warranty… what if I send it in and they refuse to fix it? Do I Sue them or what?

@@peterparker9214 then yeah if you live in the US they can't deny it for a lack of warranty stickers. Just do a bit of research on the FTC and warranty stickers. Send it in anyway, and if they refuse to fix it tell them they can't deny it for that due to the FTC ruling. If they still refuse then yeah, I think your best bet would be contacting the FTC directly, maybe other consumer watch groups.
Also you should see how Sony has removed the "warranty void" labels on the stickers this generation. Because the FTC said the warranty void stickers were illegal, so they just resorted to putting a sticker on there anyway, with the hopes it scares some people away. Microsoft removed them entirely I believe.

The disc drive side is the worst, I took off the other side no issues take the disc drive side off and all hell broke loose 😂

In Australia you disassemble the whole thing and as long as still works after reassembly you didn't void anything. Void warranty stickers are nearly illegal here to enforce, have a great day. 🙃
Yeah we have a similar thing in the US. They just really like to find a reason to say you voided warranty so I like to keep it safe.
I still don't own a PS5, but I want to thank you for making this video! It'll be really helpful to keep the console clean. What would you say is a good frecuency to clean it, maybe once every couple of months?
It depends on how dusty your house gets and where you put the console. Dont over clean it, but I have dogs, cats, and dust. So I'm planning on cracking open at least the side panels every few months or so.
@@StrandedJay Yeah, I opened my PS4 for the first time after a couple of years of having it. And I've been cleaning it once every 3-4 months, or so. I guess I'll do the same when I get a PS5. Again, this video will be really helpful, so thank you for doing it!

Little electonic compressed air, a Qtip, and some Isopropyl alcohol (go easy)

Sony Created the PS5 in way that it is easier to clean. In the video, I show where the warranty sticker is on the console. Removing that will void your warranty. Talking off the shells is essentially a feature, and is meant for the consumer to open. The fan is just a few plastic pieces and some screws that go right back in place. Now if you went any further than I did in the video, you would void warranty. No unplugging the fan, no taking that sticker off. I would also recommend not removing the fan a lot, but if you want to see if you have the infamous sticker issue, or if you want to clean the dust on the fan, you are safe to do so if you are careful.

Hi, I have a question, I removed the plate that is at the disc reader side, and I assembled it again, and now its rear central part feels a little loose, but I didn't check if it was a little loose before removing it for the first time, so I don't really know if it was loose by default, or if it became loose after removing it for the first time. The plate that has de PSN logo is not loose and it concerns me a little bit. Yours is loose too? Very great video btw. Thanks.
I would say remove that plate again, and try to re-snap it In. If it's loose after that, it's pretty normal.

I’ve been doing construction in my house upstairs and PlayStation has been underneath a blanket downstairs the entire time however it looks horrendous when I tried to clean some really happy I was able to fix it a little more
I have shroud covers covering the screws to the fan any ideas how to remove them safely without voiding any warranty "trying to install orings to make the fan quieter"
No problem cleaning. I used to take apart my ps4 and use an air compressor to get all dust out. Also would do new thermal paste on apu chip. It would stay quiet 6 or more months and I'd do it all again. Ps5 uses liquid metal so I will only dust it real good and leave the main chip alone this time around.

Yes! All you have to do is follow the video and I pull the fan out. Just don't unplug the fan or remove the warranty sticker (which i show)

Thanks! I got mine 2 days ago and I want to be prepared to when to clean it for the first time, do you think would be safe if I clean with it cotton swab, a microfiber cloth and alcohol? Also the back of it where all the heat comes out I haven’t seen any video cleaning that part and I actually thought that was the important part to clean
Simple compressed air for the back part. As for the cotton swab and microfiber cloth and alcohol, you are good to go. Just know the shiny black plastic swill scratch, even with s microfiber cloth. If that sort of thing bothers you, find a skin to put on it.

@@jaqueyankee22 that depends on how dusty your room gets. Shouldn't be a huge problem, so you should only have to clean it every now and again.
Great explanation! Did you find the console was hotter than you expected and it attracted more dust than you expected?
Not really. It seems like it gets about as hot and as dusty a previous consoles.

How often we have to do it on a average house with central A/C ?
Every 3 months since it’s builds lots of dust due to the Central A/C

Well you risk damaging the internals of the console. Also you don't know if it is balanced properly or not. Everything made on the PS5 has a purpose, so Removing one of those aspects will effect it in some way. Do so at your own risk.

I've got a ps5 I got it last week and I think I'm hearing something in side the fan flapping around but I'm not 100% sure so I it isn't that any ideas what it could be is it just a loud fan ?
Might be a sticker, might just be the fan. It depends on the sound. You would have to open it up to know for sure

You can do that, just know you warranty will be voided if you replace the fan.

Can anyone please recommend a safe way to clean it without unscrewing the fan etc, seen mixed comments on compressed air, air dusters and vacuums.
You can only clean it so far without removing the fan. If you can remove the plates, compressed air can help
For some reason Sony say not to use compressed air when cleaning the PS5
I just removed 3 of the 4 screws pretty easily but I’ve been trying for literally 40 min and the 4th one won’t come out WTF
Is one of the screws under the little plastic vent? If so you have to remove 2 screws to take off the vent on either side (don't worry it won't void your warranty)

Taking the sticker off doesn't void the warranty. You are allowed to in order to unclip the fan wire. Its much easier to clean the fan unplugged.

This will definitely help in the future. And if you are willing to go all the way and disassemble the console, you can get to the heatsink without disturbing the liquid metal.
One thing I should mention is that if you are in the US the warranty sticker technically means nothing now. Manufacturers are still forced to service your system even if the sticker is not there, and they have to repair it unless they can show that you damaged the system by opening it

If it's overheating, it most likely has dust in it. Of course, you need to make sure it has plenty of air to move, so no small spaces or cabinets
Idky but my parents never have any tools so I just use a butter knife to screw and unscrew the stand lol

Don't pull it off. It helps balance the fan.

warranty is only voided if you cause damage to anything on the inside

pro tip: if you vacuum out the dust from the dust chatchers and notice there is a bit more dust still left, blow out the dust catchers and the fan, you wont believe the dust that will fly out!
I wouldn't recommend doing this only for the reason that dust can very easily get caught back on something else
What kind of vacuum did you use?
@@jvviray9673 a normal one, just blow air out of the vacuum. Not all vacuums have that feature though

Phew! I did it. But I’m still mad about the scratches. I took the plate off to see what type of fan I have and I regret it. Do the scratches effect my consoles performance?!
@@nolinm7640 the inside will scratch a little. Its plastic on plastic and your sliding them all at once. Once the plates are back on, you won't see them. Be gentle. No forcing them on. Make sure you have the correct plates for the correct side. The brackets should feel lined up. Then give a forced (but controlled) push. If that doesn't work, then stop pushing. You aren't lined up correctly.
@@nolinm7640 No. Even big time youtubers who have taken the shells off have some scratches on the inside. It just happens. You can prevent it by not opening it a ton, and by not pulling too hard when removing the plates. These scratches do not effect your warranty and they do not effect performance. I would be very careful disassembling in the future if you aren't sure about what you're doing first.

If you are uncomfortable disassembling, I wouldn't recommend doing it.

Don't listen to the, "you only need to take off one side." I removed both sides and both sides were equally dirty, so you'll need to take off both sides... Dirt wasn't in just the fan...
Remove both sides to clean the console. Dont remove both sides if you are only looking to take out the fan to see which one it is, check for sticker, etc. The video isn't just on how to clean the console.

You can take off the sticky side and remove the fan if you feel more comfortable. Sounds like you know what you're doing though 😉
