Wow! That takes me back. I bought my 1953 80 inch (NRT 286) in the long hot summer of 1976 and sold it five years later for £250. Wish I had hung onto the old girl. I see it has the hand throttle, under the speedometer on the bulkhead. On a long motorway drive I could use this unique "cruise control" to briefly stretch my legs across the seats in order to restore some circulation. Mine had the 2.0 litre engine which would power it up to 50 MPH. Normal cruise speed was 45-48, which was roughly what HGVs used to travel at in the 70s. I was lucky to get 23 miles per gallon on a run. How things have changed!
I see the exhaust pipe 4 bolt fitting is out of sync on this one too. Hence one of the bolts being thinner. They are wrong from Craddocks. I eased one of the holes with a chainsaw file .
