Continuum was also an interesting show, and may very well have predicted our future. Corporations running the government? I can definitely see that happening. 😺✌️
I loved Dark Matter, the use of the multiverse idea of having different versions of people was very well done and the characters were great. I believe they knew they were getting cancelled so they crammed a lot into the last season - it had so much potential! I did enjoy Sanctuary too, another show that should never have been cancelled was Farscape but at least that got a mini-series to finish it off.
You missed my favorite 2 season sci-fi show- “Counterpart” with JK Simmons. Sort of a Cold War spy thriller with a huge sci-fi twist that is gradually revealed. They managed to squeeze in an ending when it was cancelled but so much potential was wasted.
Space Above and Beyond! There. Done. Finished it for you!😀And, whilst not technically Sci-Fi, more of a western/fantasy/Sci-Fi mashup, Brisco County Jnr. As for Post Apocalyptic Event shows, Jericho was way better than Revolution. Ultraviolet, a British series that was shown on Channel 4 in the uk. Had idris Elba in an early role and Jack Davenport probably better know from the Pirates of the Caribbean series. The show followed a poliecman whose partner dies and then comes back to life as a vampire. He gets recruited into a secret organisation hunting vampires. It leans into SF more than the typical fantasy taking vampires seriously and using things like carbon bullets as weapons. There's a scene with Idris Elba trapped weaponless in a warehouse with time locked vampire caskets I'll never forget seeing. Well worth digging up if yiu can find it. I still have my DVD boxset of it.
So many good shows you have here! I loved Defying Gravity too! 🥰 And will forever mourn Firefly's cancellation. 😢 Haven't seen Debris and am now intrigued by it, thanks! 😊
My most tragic cancelations are: - Altered Carbon - The Expanse (I still hope we get season 7 to 9 someday) - The 4400 (First Show) - Counterpart - Dark Matter (by the way, this series had also three seasons, not two) - Stargate Universe - Continuum - Sense 8 - Blood Drive - Dollhouse - Firefly - 1899 - Jericho - Dirk Gentlys holistic dectetive agency - Colony
So completely agree with your thoughts on Stargate Universe!! I loved both the original and Atlantis, but these two series of Universe took it to another level :-) Made it less "Space Opera-ish" and more hardcore SF, but still had the gorgeous SG feel, IMO
Glad to see Sense8 mentioned. I loved what we got of that series, but it had the potential to be so great if they'd gotten the originally planned 5 seasons.
Also if they slashed some of the politics in the plot and spent more time on story and characters. I loved the first season, but then it turned into Tomorrow People and then it got worse. Sorry to say, but sadly it was time to let go.
I loved Defying Gravity. The show creator, James Parriott, did an interview with ClicqueClack where he explained where the series was going to go. Did that one have a conclusion? Or was it cancelled? I've been interested in both the books and the show. I guess it doesn't really matter so much if it was cancelled prematurely because the books exist.
@@Yesica1993 The books, for me, are split into three parts: the human solar colonization part and the mystery of the protomolecule, which I found the most intriguing, then there is the solar system war, which was kind of fun, but book 5 I felt was the most boring of them all, then there is the epic interstellar part, which I didn't care much about because it invalidated the work done for the first two. The show kind of does the first two parts. It would have been prohibitively expensive to go into part 3, too, I guess. However both books and series, to me, felt like they ended in very interesting and promising places. So in a way, both books and series were cancelled prematurely :)
Ha ha, Terra Nova! Preach, sister! And SGU and Orville and Sarah Connor Chronicles... dude, talk about potential and brilliant ideas! I like that your choices are series that I've watched and barely remember now. Some of them I definitely have not watched, yet when I know they end up like this, I won't watch, sorry. Also some the shows on your list were cancelled prematurely, but kind of deserved to. There were sputtering.
Jericho and Revolution cancelations were tragedies. I think I grieved. For Jericho there was supposedly two comic books to continue the last part of the story. I have never physically held these comics, so I am not sure whether they exist. Also considered, a movie that would wrap up the story.
Sense 8 had its conclusion with season 2. They defeated the bad guy. It ended with a grand wedding. The estranged child made peace with her parents. It would have been an injustice to graft on a third season. On the same token, there were many shows that should have stopped with one season. The second season ruined those by turning all weird. Heroes, for example, should have ended at the conclusion of the first season. Then there's the best sci-fi show ever that was cancelled after 2 1/2 seasons. What else but the original Star Trek! I'm still grieving Salvation, Terra Nova, The 4400 Ascension and Zoo. I still think Westworld deserved to have its 5 seasons arc completed. More recently, 1899. I don't know exactly what was the issue with Netflix, but the creators left after season 1.
Great list! I love Sense8, there is a 3 hour special that wrapped up the series which they made after fans demanded it, have you seen that? Obviously 3rd season would have been better. Also, shout out to Babylon 5 spinoff Crusade although I admit I may be the shows one and only fan😂And not SF but more dark fantasy, Carnivale.
The Librarians? I was a huge fan of the Noah Wyle Trilogy "The Librarian". This was Syfy Spin off, that I thought was also pretty good, but did get a 4 season run. Also, sticking with Noah Wyle, how about Falling Skies. A great series in my opinion. Might not qualify since it ran for quite a long time, but something for the viewers to check out if they haven't seen/heard of it. Probably best to just stick with Fox, since they are notorious for canceling SciFi Series too early...lol
Don't ever mention, "Firefly" to me! Short version: I may have watched an ep when it began, but it didn't catch me. It got cancelled. Fans screamed and cried for years. "Serenity" came out. By this time I realized I'd missed out on a great show. My plan was to watch the movie and if I liked it, then go back and watch the show. I was LOVING THIS MOVIE! Before it even ended, I had decided I was going to watch the show, even thought I knew I'd be left crying with the rest of the fans. And then... they did THAT BAD THING. I sat there like I had been punched in the face. I don't even remember the rest of the movie. The worst part is, I still had not learned my lesson. I think it was after "Serenity" that I ended up watching both "Buffy" and "Angel". It FINALLY dawned on me that Joss Whedon HATES his characters and his audience. He writes things just to torture us both. NEVER AGAIN, Whedon. Never!
Isn't it strange how some shows can grab you and not let go? I still rewatch episodes of Bewitched and Top Cat, because I adored the characters. Sadly, all TV series and film franchises devour themselves. Culling most of them early is a blessing. Dr Who, in my neck of the Dark Forest is now a woke manifesto. If Lex and Elon have their way, there'll never be a shortage of viewers in their the more the merrier utopias. Deal salutes you from afar!
There are Firefly books that are very similar to the show. The Doctor Strange 1978 tv pilot broadcast opposite Roots was awesome I thought, by the creator of Simon and Simon. I can't imagine what the series would have been like. It had some cool music too and Jessica Walter as Morgana LeFay. Funky music clip: ua-cam.com/video/cOvtoa_w2FA/v-deo.html
Oooh thank you!!! Also yeah i need to give firefly books a shot but i dunno im worried to fall in love with these characters all over again only to face heartbreak again… 💔
Dark Matter - the Series sounds very much like Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty - I tried to find info but nobody seems to connect the 2. if they are not related I would be very surprised.
Being left hanging is the reason is why I stopped watching any new shows. I used to wait at least until a second season would start. But now I really don't want to start anything current at all. I've been burned over and over and I can't stand it anymore. The only current show I'm watching is "Blue Bloods", and that's only because I've been emotionally invested for so many years. I loved "Caprica"! Why were we the only ones?! Yay, someone else on this planet remembers "Terra Nova"! I was starting to think I imagined it. I think this show was the one that cemented my decision to never watch shows until they are complete. Oh, man, SGU. I only discovered the original SG1 a few years ago. I fell instantly in love with it. Absolute all time favorite. If I ever find a full time job again, I'm buying the DVDs because I could watch it forever. I liked Atlantis but not quite as much. I kept on with SGU and... it was not for me. But I was still mad that we were left hanging. Oh! I think I did watch some of "Jericho"! Wow, I haven't thought about that one in years. I was also liking, "Almost Human." I will never call the Wachowskis, "sisters." I refuse to ever affirm someone's delusions/mental illness. Man, this video brought up bad memories. I'm looking at YOU, "The Unit" (that one still hurts), and the, "V" reboot.
Im sorry about the bad memories! But wantes to give these shows a little bit of love maybe found a new audience for some -- but also there are some really good suggestions in the comments
Continuum was also an interesting show, and may very well have predicted our future.

Threshold (2005)

I haven't watched a lot of these. I'm definitely going to check out Debris.
Awesome! 😎 hope u like it
Also, Travelers.
I havent watched this one! Will check it out tho
Yes yes yes no no no! Indeed. The more I like something, the more likely to get cancelled. 😢
I feel that!!!!
🫡 . Thank u!
Nice additions in the comments. “Another life” starring Katee Sackhoff. Never liked her as Starbuck, but she is good in this one.
How did i forget this one!!! Good suggestion!
I'd add 'Gravity Falls' (Comedy animation) although it was planned to be 2 seasons from the start.
Ooh i havent heard of it! Will check it out

I do not think they are but i havent read it- but dark matter came out in 2015 and six wakes in 2017…. Interesting tho
Ascension ended at its rightful conclusion and would have been spoiled with an additional season.
Basically the story ended where the show ended.
Awwww i thibk there was so much more i would have liked to seee wsp with that twist ending… it felt like it was just getting started

TERRA NOVA!!!😮

I was also liking, "Almost Human."
I will never call the Wachowskis, "sisters." I refuse to ever affirm someone's delusions/mental illness.
@@secretsauceofstorycraft Great video, as always. Thanks!
