I stumbled on to your videos a couple of days ago and I'm now hooked. I like your teaching style. I grew up in the city and I am looking to learn bushcrafting skills and pass it on to my kids. Keep up the good work!
Nice intro to map reading. I agree that 1:25000 is a good scale. Most maps in my area is 1:50000 and that leaves out a lot of useful features in landscape. Thanks for sharing :) - Martin
Like the explanations, I had taken a map course and it sort of relight my interest. I am new to the channel, so what's with the Turtle stuff? Remember I said I was new to the channel so keep the beatings tame.
Supper fine work on teaching. I am just delving into understanding maps and how to actually navigate with them in the wilderness. Thanks, I took actual notes on the wisdom you shared.
Thanks for the video. I see all of these "preppers" getting ready for the apocalypse, but don't know the first thing about reading a map, or navigating with a compass. If you're gonna "bug out" to your backyard though, I guess you'll be okay.
Hi, there, can I ask you a question? I have plans to make a channel just like yours someday. What do you use in terms of recording, editing and lighting? You really do inspire me so I plan to emulate your video quality. Imitation is the best form of flattery, of course. That is if you are willing to share. Thanks, I'll be looking forward to hearing from you.
I am a bit of a cartophile too, but I am not very educated in the unit of measue you used rather than latitude and longitude. I would appreciate a video on it. Thanks guys.
In a recent video you mentioned that you did trail work and conservation work in Arizona. What kind of work did you do specifically, and how would one get into it?
At the end, you say that green is public land. That's not true. It indicates trees or dense foliage. Look at any map with high altitude features above the tree line and the color will be white.
Depressions are generally represented as oblong shapes with tick marks pointing inward. Are you going to do the hieroglyphics of orienteering meets? Those are nuts! Plus 1:10,000 scale maps are very meticulous.
Howdy Folks, To all my fellow Real Americans Patriots ..... Happy Thanksgiving. The fact that America is still functioning despite all that is going on is a credit to Our Founding Fathers and the Great Nation they prepared for us. We certainly have much to be thankful to God for. May God continue to Bless you, your family and friends.
Video helped me a lot. Didn't know where to get these maps before, and now I have a few for key areas I go to. Thanks a bunch.
Keep'em coming; I'll be sending these to my students as reference videos outside of the lab.

Great video! I would watch a map video where you fully "nerd out". It's a very important skill to know.

Thank you.
When you in the thick and you don't have anything but trees. How do you find anything on the map. Say you got lost.

7:32 Sorry, but you're wrong. White indicates areas with little or no vegetation and green indicates substantial vegetation.

"Algebra"
Anybody know what is going on with them? No videos.
Hey other turtle!👋🏻👍🏻
I'm screwed. I failed algebra in highschool. Lol
The main thing I got from watching the scale part of the vid is how the US really needs to get with the rest of the world and start using metric!
Julian Tang why
jessykapop your system is a million times more complicated than metric. You're also about the only country that still uses such an outdated system
Julian Tang lol ikr..I hate feet and stuffs
or uk why do americans not learn this in geography class
Liberia and Myanmar also uses imperial but still, they need to join the rest of the world
Great vid and instruction! Your video was featured on the sidebar at BestBugOutGear.com
