  • It's Honest Review time again and this time I decided to absolutely tear apart a pair of TNEC Michael Kraft pro frames to see what they're made of. Being a huge fan of Michael Kraft's skating and having a lot of respect and admiration for Duran Bickmore after speaking with him on Platform podcast, I decided to find out what all the hype was about. Did I buy them because of the colour? Yes. Was I worried about the shallow groove. Abso-bloody-lutely. Find out how I got on with the frames after numerous sessions on various street spots and skateparks.

back in my day, we all knew we needed to start our own groove. nowadays it seems like a cool easter egg.

I'd even go as far as saying that the perfect out-of-the-box frame doesn't exist. You'd need to break 'm in more or less either way. Hence why I dislike buying new frames, hehe

TNEC needs to try to make gummy bears the shape of them bolts and pack them with the frames or skates. The idea popped in my head.

Thanks for covering these, had a few customers inquire about them and wanted to learn a bit more.

Bought a pair in late 2022 when I just started skating, tried to learn grinds with them but ended up unsatisfied (I did not know they needed break in and did not have the technique to do any grind back then), which made me give up on them and swap for a pair of Kaltik V1s.
One year later, after learning grinds on flat and anti-rocker, seeing all the reviews and the break in tutorial from Duran, I got another pair and gave them a try again. I decided not to take them to a rough ledge and tried grinds on my usual square metal ledges, and the results blew my brain off: after a few frontsides and unities, a very slight "side groove" started to form, and since then I’ve been able to do and hold all the grinds I know without experiencing any wheelbite and without needing to wax the ledges.
I also found that these frames developed an extremely small “external side groove" for royales and unities on the Mesmer TS2s. It feels like the base frame angle was already good enough for the soulplate to angle down and touch the ledges.
When it comes to maneuverability, comfort on drops/jumps and sound, I totally agree with you. They’re really great.
In conclusion, the TNEC frames are absolutely amazing, but they are not suited for early beginners wanting to learn how to grind.
If you’re an experienced skater and want a sick flat frame for a very decent price, go for it!

the lazy way, 5 seconds with a dremel, line it perfectly with your soul channel groove and smooth out the sharpness out of the side of the frame with a small starter groove and let your skate style do its own thing with time.

I did skate mine at a skatepark first thing and remover slipping off. The frames age like a fine wine tho. (I am obviously bias, but wish I want cuz they truely are my favorite frames.)

I see on their skate they are releasing that they reworked the frame wall and won’t probably need breaking in. Hopefully they make a v2 version of the frame.

Their skate is aiming at beginner skaters with a small budget, but their current frame is clearly not made for beginners as you need to know how to grind properly to break them in. This is why they reworked the h-block on the complete skate

Meh. The New Everything Company, where everything is ''borrowed', corners cut, with warped plastics.
