Well, I'm glad I tagged you a few hours ago on Facebook with a clip from my new podcast, despite thinking you were still on a full detox. I expect your report by the end of the month!
Seriously though, good for you keeping it real here. I imagine you get much of your inspiration from living your true life out there in the world, but for me it's hard to imagine doing the creative work without "inputs" from other people, whether that means news or music or whatever. The trouble is figuring out what is garbage input and what's worth it!

My phone is always on silent. If my family need me urgently, they call the landline (yep still got one).
I watch Yt and listen to music if I'm home.
I do suffer from insomnia, so enjoy a good book if I'm awake at stupid o'clock. Totally understand the detox from distractions. Have a lovely weekend.

Tell me about it! One of the strange side effects of me doing a bit of a blitz on posting short form video has been that I have so many notifications that I couldn't keep up with them in real time. So it actually makes it easier to ignore them and then respond every so often in blocks of comments etc!

Perhaps any big change derails the mind’s train. Recently retired, I find it’s not easy turning away from what was “business as usual” for 50 years. Nothing ridiculous in what you’re saying. Forza, ragazzo!

I don't do a lot of aps online but I do do UA-cam. I love the internet so much. I'm a writer too . I write film/tv scripts. I couldn't write without the internet-everything is right there at my fingertips from research to marketing . Pretty strong of you to be able to do that Dan!!! I know when I get my boat I will be having two forms of wi-fi backup lol It's true, I'm addicted to the net!!! I don't mind though. I've grown so much being online. Another great vid Dan!!! Thanks for posting!!!

This makes perfect sense to me. According to REBT, we upset ourselves by the things we tell ourselves. We then try to use ways to make ourselves less upset rather than addressing the reason why we're upset. The reason why we're upset is because we take our perfectly rational preferences and change them into irrational demands (on ourselves, others and life/world) then upset ourselves when those demands aren't met.
To stop upsetting ourselves we would need to change those demands back into the strong preferences they came from by disputing the rationality of them.
A Guide to Personal Happiness by Albert Ellis, I think, is a good introduction into the master of psychologys method. X

I guess you have to find the right balance. Ease up on the work front and add more leisure into your life. It's been a worthwhile exercise, as it will help you to find that equilibrium that you are seeking. 🙂

Yes, I have certainly enjoyed the challenge of having endless distraction within arms reach constantly!

Really interesting video. I often wonder about cutting out certain things and looking for new things. That's actually one reason I'm here watching your video now as I'm cutting out some negative UA-cam channels and looking for positive ones.
Digital media probably shouldn't be fully removed, but cutting down on the "endless mindless scrolling" is a good place to start. Fine tune the digital media so it's positive and fits into your life and is positive.

I think you have to employ moderation. I’m completely addicted to the internet so I’m trying it myself but I’m thinking of deleting apps so I have to type in the search bar to go on Facebook or twitter etc.
I enjoy my audible stuff and kindle books so I’m trying to spend more of my time on those rather than flicking through apps in a daze like state

I've lost track of your life ... are you living in a house, now? Still 'shacked-up'? Most of your 'problems' seem to be of the 'normie' variety. You seem to be hankering after 'things that were'.
