    Hi guys and welcome to another ride. Today its a short ride on a gravel byway to see how the Tiger 900 GT Pro rides. I am not a master of the gravel but I have done some gravel riding way back and its good fun. The Tiger 900 really performed well and felt light and controlled. Good all round bike. I think with some good off-road tyres this bike would eat up the trails.

    Very useful, review. is a good bike for commuting honestly? daily use (comfortable) and weekend touring, of perhaps recreation purpose? this is better than ktm 890 for my purpose ? I only drive on public roads/highways... it is wise to jump from naked bike to this touring/Adventure for daily use.
    Any way great video
    Be safe

    Well done Andre. Nice to see these getting a little muck on them. I just purchased a low mileage 2020 GT Pro. Have you given any thoughts to what your next set of tires will be?

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  2 роки тому

      Hi Tom and thanks for the feedback. I must say that I have not had a chance to really look at that. I am so far happy with the current feel of the stock tyres. But if I am going to use the bike more on the gravel bits I will likely look at different tyres. I am keen to find a good app to see if I can find good trails around my area because I know if there are very little I might just stick to the country roads.

    Hi Andre. That was great. I have one and love it and want to go off road too. Did you do this on the standard road tyres? It seemed, from the clip, quite stable. Have you done more off road? I’m thinking of getting a set of 20/80 tyres when I do.

      Thank you for the comment and feedback. Super happy that you are enjoying the bike. I have not done much offroading as here in the UK its a bit of a pain to find byways this is what they call it where you can ride your bike. I think if you going to be riding more on the gravel a better duel sport tyre would be key. Most of the duel sport tyres handle very well on the road and on the dirt and I think the bike would be very happy with riding some gravel trails. Then some extra protection to the bike would also be a good option, like crash bars and some 3M covering on the tank and side panels to prevent scratches. Good luck with the venture into the dirt.

    Your right about the people that have a tiger. I have a 800xca and no intentions of taking it off road.
    I just liked the features, comfort and style of the bike but still have my FJR1300 🤣

      So true and there is nothing wrong with that. I think most of us buy into the Adv idea to someday get out and ride hidden trails and mountain passes. But for me this bike really shines on the bumpy back road in the UK. Its just so comfortable and easy to handle.

    Thanks for the video. Seems like I don't need the rally version. The GT will suit best for me.

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  11 місяців тому +1

      Yes the rally you get the higher ride height but all the other bits are pretty much the same. The only reason I went for the GT Pro was that I could not get a 850Sport as they where selling like hot cakes and they offered me a really good deal on this bike for almost the same price as the 850Sport. I would have been happy with the 850Sport with heated grips and handguards. They pretty much sound and ride the same the GT Pro just have all the bells if you really need it. Heated seats is nice to have but not a necessity for me and all the rider modes where I only really use the road and rain modes. The mag wheels on the 850Sport is also easier the clean compared to the spokes. You really need to be doing some serious off road riding before the spokes going to shine. For what I am using the bike the GT Pro was a total over kill. Quick shifter was nice even better than the Street Triple I had. But then again this can be added on to the 850Sport. Just giving you something to thing about. If you can get a good deal on the new GT then its an awesome bike. That new Red color is awesome. Good luck

      @@Andre-Mostert thanks! Very good info. What I really want is a very good passenger seat, more than 80HP & some off road capability but just got light off road nothing really crazy. I don't mind not having the cruise control or the quick shifter. I live in Panama Central America so, no need for any heated extras. I love how the Sport looks, but we have here the 660 which I think will not be enough power for me coming from a 600cc 4cil engine. Anyhow I appreciate your feedback it is very important for me.

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  11 місяців тому +1

      Great, I had the Tiger 660 too. Great little bike for doing it all. But if you going to be doing miles and you need that flat seat at the back then the 850 or 900 is going to be a more comfortable ride for the pillion. The grab handles are also in a great position and the seating position is good. Well that is what my wife tells me. She loved the heated rear seat but she was spoiled on the BMW RT I had it too. I have a Keis heated vest so that sort me out in the heating department. Go and check out the Tiger 850 Sport as its the same engine as the 900 just cheaper as it does not have all the bells.
      Be worth to check it out if they doing deals on them
      www.triumphmotorcycles.co.uk/motorcycles/adventure/tiger-850-sport
      But the new 900GT with the new colours are a thing of beauty. Enjoy the hunt for the bike. Oh yes and the Tiger 660 Sport is more road bike, like the BMW 900 XR. It would have been a even better bike if they made it to go offroad more.

    Hi Andre
    Good Video …Haven’t Gravelled the Tiger yet ..,
    Just a thought when tyre pressure warning came on …Any reason why you didn’t check pressure on TFT 🤔

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  2 роки тому

      Hi there, thanks for the comment and question. I did get off the bike and physically inspect the tyre and also checked the screen (Just cut most of that out). When I got home I also checked the pressure and it was just under the recommended level. I have found this on my BMW F850GS too that you need to get upto speed for a proper reading. I check and inflated both tyres and I will keep an eye on the tyre as a slow leak is not great.

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  Рік тому

      Its such a shot section and the tyres is not really made for any real off road riding. Even the rain mode would have been a good choice at the slow speed I went.
      Thank you for the feedback and the comment. I will have to go and try again.

    was that water riding just with the standard tyres?
    thanks for the video it was great!

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  2 роки тому

      Yes that was just the stock tyres. I think if you add mud too it its going to be a different story as they will get caked up really quick and you will be sliding all over the place. Thanks for watching

      @@Andre-Mostert thanks mate i have been wondering if the GT would work as a 20% offraod bike with better tyres, and I think you might have convinced me that it would. Just a bit worried about the clearance now, but would replace the crappy stock bash plate which might fix that!
      Thanks again

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I think this one is super capable with some different tyres and if you put a bash plate on. Its not light but its such a well balanced bike that makes riding a pleasure. Even the 850 Sport was a good bike when I did the test ride.

    Can you disable ABS & traction control for off road?

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  2 роки тому

      Yes you can disable the TC system and the ABS in the OffRoad settings.
      The Traction Control (TC) system can be temporarily disabled. The Traction Control (TC) system cannot be permanently disabled, it will be automatically enabled when the ignition is turned off and then on again.
      Hope this helps

    So I’ve noticed now on a handful of Triumph Tiger vids (including the new 1200) that the tire pressure monitors seem to be glitchy or rather, “‘overly cautious” with warnings shown glaring in your face like your opening shot displayed. In comparison, my BMW F900R will show you the tire pressures but it won’t display this massive warning until it gets dangerously low, perhaps the algorithms have been programmed to allow a greater variability spread? Minor observation of mine and depending on your perspective could be a good or bad thing. I’d personally find it irritating especially on a bike intended to go off road some. Does that mean you’d have to deal with these warning signs all the time even if you’ve let out some air for off-road? Again, minor observation and not necessarily negative.

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  2 роки тому

      I do agree but this was the first time and you can just press the accept button to cancel it to go away. The tyre was just under the recommended pressure and this is also why when I got going it went away. It was also a very cold morning and as more heat went in to the tyre it seams to sort itself out. When I checked it at home it was still good to ride on. I have also inflate it and went out 4 days later with a quick check before I left and its keeping the pressure. I will keep an eye on this one. But yes if you want to run lower pressure for doing sand riding or where your need less pressure they its going to warn you. Thanks for the comment and great observation.

    These videos are great! I had a 2012 Street Triple R. Ended up selling it after our second child because I didn't have time. Now as the kids are getting older I'm looking at adv bikes so I can take one of them with me when I ride. Probably still a couple years before I can seriously consider getting one, but fun to see someone make essentially the same transition that I'm planning on making. Looking forward to more Tiger videos. Stay safe out there.

      Many thanks Brad, my daughter is now 8 and she is super keen to go on the back but finding a good helmet for her here in the uk is a pain. I am looking at a few retro style e-bikes where I can get her on the back and we can go for a ride and to help with the build up to go on the motorbike. But yes its take a bit of time. What I now do is I get up really early on the weekends and out the door by about 6:30 to get a good 2 hours of riding in with very little traffic. I am back when they are ready for breakfast. I had my boost and they had time to lay around the house. Keep well and good luck with getting another bike. Oh man that desert X Ducati is looking very sweet. lol

    Correction. There are no byways in Scotland as off-road is not allowed unless on private land with permission. We have something called the access code. Motorised vehicles are not allowed as I say unless disabled.

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  Рік тому

      Wow that is not good, here in the south of England we are still allowed to use some of the byways but they are getting less and less for motorbikes. Every man and his dog now want to use them for walking and e-biking.

    • @Andre-Mostert
      @Andre-Mostert  2 роки тому

      That is very true, you will need to add a good few bits to get it ready for that. Also a lighter bike might be an better option or even looking at the Yamaha Ténéré 700. Also a great bike for a really good price.
