I’ve done some light mountaineering, Mt Shasta in California, a few 14ers in Colorado, I understand the drive to reach the summit but big time mountaineering is out of the question for me. I think a decreased number of summit permits is an obvious first step to making Everest and Himalayan mountaineering in general safer. Personally I think there needs to be a list of required peaks before someone even gets a shot at Everest and additional requirements for independent expeditions. I also think Everest should absolutely be a required peak before anybody gets a shot at K2 or Annapurna. I also think there needs to be some level of oversight of commercial expeditions, as it seems every year there’s more rumors about certain commercial expeditions being sketchy at best. I think for guided expeditions, Sherpas word should be law on the mountain. If your sherpas tell you to turn around: *you turn around.* The sherpas should also have the highest individual pay, paid on a per climber basis, regardless of a successful summit. I realize that I don’t know the ins and outs of the Himalayan climbing industry, but these seem like no brainers to me.
I plan on climbing Mt Sunflower in Kansas in 2026. It's a 14 incher and I'm cautiously optimistic I will reach the summit. Getting down, that's another story.
I assume the outdoor pursuit ‘orienteering’ doesn’t exist in the USA? What’s it called there? Just orienting, or orientating? Neither of those words have anything to do with reading maps to navigate somewhere. Stupid meaningless strangulation of words.
I am also hooked on these videos!! When I look you up..( I am subscribed), but they try throwing in some other videos, and I really don't like that because you have the BEST VOICE by FAR!! Not only your voice, your attitude, respect, and kindness in telling these stories!! Along with the pictures and facts.. I really enjoy your videos. much more than any others!!

Aww, your pronunciation of the german names sounds adorable. Completely butchered, but keep it up xD. great videos btw, happy to have found your channel
Great video. I wonder if the guy who fell into the crater in St. Helen’s could’ve hiked out the back side of the crater and back around the mountain. Maybe it was too much distance to cover but it looks like you could walk right out of it. I’d also be curious to know how he died. This is the second video I’ve seen on it and both just say he died after the second fall. I’m guessing some type of trauma from the fall.
That would have led him to the wrong side. Meaning he would have walked out and then have to go around the mountain. For someone in snowboarding boots he wouldn’t have made it past night time. He also only had light jacket and not prepared for an overnight stay in freezing night weather
Most climbers who climb alone don’t use emergency gps or avalanche beacons. Don’t climb using ropes. Even if he had one it would have been in his backpack.
It’s almost impossible to grasp just how steep some of these faces are. Luckily I’m scared of heights and have a legit medical reason why no one can force me to climb a mountain for charity!
I remember when Mt. St. Helen's erupted I was 10yrs old then, I remember seeing a bigfoot photo dead with the tree's..🤔, they took it out and I haven't seen it since.
Feminism ruining lives even back then 😢 feel bad for us ladies that are brainwashed. Of course you need men. Also you are driving there with gas men mined for, ropes men made, clothing from factories run by men, knives to cut rope made by men…. I could go on… of course we need men and they need us. It’s the perfect balance. Everyone is so depressed today because we have been tricked into upsetting this balance. All so the government can tax the other 50% of adults 😢 so sad
The story of these Russian women is a most tragic one..This girl trying to proof that women do qualify for the perils of high altitude mountaineering and all die is not helping her case.

Boxing? You mean guys (some ladies) who beat the crap out of each other, sometimes into unconsciousness or serious injuries. Not so much of an adrenaline rush compared to BASE jumping, skydiving, caving, etc. But each to his own. Personally, I get my adrenaline fix by watching all of these people doing all of these things that I never will.
Mountaineering is such an accomplishment and is done in a beautiful environment, all boxing does is fuck up your frontal lobe. Between dying slowly of parkinson's and dying quickly because of a fall off of a mountain, I'd choose the one that didn't fuck with my brain.

Dude, be safe man, sounds like a treacherous expedition!
For sure you did a lot of thinking..will there be someone with authority think the same?
@@quantumpotential7639 Bro, don't do it! Stay at base camp (couch).
I have read that avalanches are #1 cause of death on Everest.
I think that this is by far your best compilation!! Nicely done!!! 👍
Salute for saying "disoriented" and not "disorientated."
Only in America….sigh. It’s called English for a reason 😊🏴
It's funny when Americans think that they invented English.

@@TransKidRevolution Really? News to me.
Your narrating voice has gotten really nice to listen to, I can’t wait for more videos🙌
Mt. St. Helens is so distinctive in the skyline because it looks like a mountain that got its top chopped off

I thought I was weird cuz I stick the whole marathon playlist on to chill myself to sleep! 😂

I don’t know how one can not know how to pronounce Munich.
thanks for the shoutout to women mountaineers :)

He may have been avoiding as much volcanic activity as possible. He did say it was incredibly unpredictable
I would’ve thought someone as experienced as Rocky would’ve had emergency GPS unit. Are those not so common
Most climbers who climb alone don’t use emergency gps or avalanche beacons. Don’t climb using ropes. Even if he had one it would have been in his backpack.

3:17 - "Statistically 1/5 climbers who successfully summit, will die..."
The other 4 however will be granted immortality lol
poor mountaineers, barely kept their families fed
We need a ski lift all the way to the summit with no open windows (to prevent littering). 65k for a roundtrip.
Are you serious or trolling? I hope it’s the latter because that’s a ridiculous suggestion.
28:58 oh no... is that real footage?
As a french speaker, let me tell you that you absolutely destroyed the pronunciation of Boulogne Billancourt at 13:05. It was kinda funny.

It is about choice, free to be who you want to be.
@Terror Twin : C in polish as well as in other slavic languages is pronounced like "ts" in "tsunami". (and "w" is like "v", just like in german).

Why do yall love peril so much? I’m genuinely curious. You could easily get the same adrenaline taking up boxing or something
Climbing mountains is beautiful and satisfying. Boxing, not so much, at least not for me.
