Hud 11:44 وَقِيلَ يَٰٓأَرْضُ ٱبْلَعِى مَآءَكِ وَيَٰسَمَآءُ أَقْلِعِى وَغِيضَ ٱلْمَآءُ وَقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ وَٱسْتَوَتْ عَلَى ٱلْجُودِىِّۖ وَقِيلَ بُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ English - Sahih International And it was said, "O earth, swallow your water, and O sky, withhold [your rain]." And the water subsided, and the matter was accomplished, and it [i.e., the ship] came to rest on the [mountain of] Jūdiyy. And it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people." But this one has shirk in it bc he swears by other than Allah. Ik this was pre islam area but it’s better not to post these ones. “The Poem of Antar translated by F. E. Johnson (c.1894) I was enamored of her unawares, at a time when I was killing her people, desiring her in marriage; but by your father's life I swear, this was not the time for desiring”.
This Arabic expression is specifically permissible according to the most of scholars لعمرك - لعمري - لعمر أبيك.. الخ It was a common way to emphasize speech and wasn't meant to be an actual oath, although it translates literally to an oath :). This poetry used to be memorized and studied in the houses of Allah back when the ummah took great care of the language. I’m referring to the days Abu ‘Amr and what followed from the days of Al-Khalil. You shouldn’t give a fatwa without knowledge. This poetry despite whatever filth it contains helps preserves the religion from false interpretations

@@donotdisturb6597 It's well known that when Qur'an reciters wanted to make principles for the grammar of the language to preserve it they used the Qur'an and Arabic poetry. And the best of the best in terms of poetry is what was composed before Islam. Look up the biographies of Abu 'Amr, ibn Abi Ishaq, 'Asma'i, Al-Khalil, Sibawayh, Al-Kisa'i, Al-Farra', Al-Mufadal, and many others. If I had to guess from what I know about them, they probably memorized like 200,000 lines of poetry each if not more (The poem in this video is 75 lines. So how long would 200k take to recite?). One of them, Al-Khalil, it was said about him that he memorized half the language. And I've read Arabic has 12,000,000 words.

This Arabic expression is specifically permissible according to the most of scholars
لعمرك - لعمري - لعمر أبيك.. الخ
It was a common way to emphasize speech and wasn't meant to be an actual oath, although it translates literally to an oath :).
The prophet ﷺ used it in his speech as well as Sahaba.

This poetry used to be memorized and studied in the houses of Allah back when the ummah took great care of the language. I’m referring to the days Abu ‘Amr and what followed from the days of Al-Khalil.
You shouldn’t give a fatwa without knowledge. This poetry despite whatever filth it contains helps preserves the religion from false interpretations
@@acethegreat2946 source for what ur saying? I wasn’t giving a fatwa. I read the poem and it mentioned the guy swearing by her fathers life. And like in my original comment I said abt it being pre islam I don’t understand how the “filth” is going to preserve the deen from misinterpretations
@@donotdisturb6597 It's well known that when Qur'an reciters wanted to make principles for the grammar of the language to preserve it they used the Qur'an and Arabic poetry. And the best of the best in terms of poetry is what was composed before Islam. Look up the biographies of Abu 'Amr, ibn Abi Ishaq, 'Asma'i, Al-Khalil, Sibawayh, Al-Kisa'i, Al-Farra', Al-Mufadal, and many others.
If I had to guess from what I know about them, they probably memorized like 200,000 lines of poetry each if not more (The poem in this video is 75 lines. So how long would 200k take to recite?). One of them, Al-Khalil, it was said about him that he memorized half the language. And I've read Arabic has 12,000,000 words.
