    Driving for pleasure doesn’t necessarily mean driving in a sporty way. I drive for pleasure in a relaxed and comfortable manner, and Lexus, judging from my experience with RX450h, is perfect for that. There is plenty of performance for any sensible overtake. F-sport in this and other SUV models is more of a styling preference rather anything else.

    Lexus make the best Luxury cars. They are very reliable, give good customer service and are very well engineered. The so called "luxury" German brands may be better to drive (in some cases) but don't come close when it comes to overall luxury, reliability and customer service. Mercedes and BMW used to build the best luxury cars up until approx.1995. Audi have never built a good luxury car (just a posh VW ) and Jaguar used to build great British luxury cars apart from reliability issues. Lexus come top in reliability surveys and if I was spending my own hard earned cash, that's good enough for me.

    Lexus are amazing, I’ve owned an RC 300h f sport Lexus cohoe for 3 years & the E-CVT does not cause any bother, in fact it’s more smooth, had a merc coupe before & you could feel gear changes, this is a smooth box

  • @techyd8411
    @techyd8411 5 років тому +4

    Why are all journalists mindsets so fixed on the CVT gearbox? I’ve driven an IS300h for nearly 3 years and it’s an excellent gearbox, the smoothest, most serene drivetrain you can get, drive it at 8/10 and the gearbox just does not bother you. It does need you to adapt your right foot ever-so-slightly so that you learnt he best way for it to deliver and when you do, it really is a five star box. The problem as I see is that Journalists don’t actually live with a car long enough to bother for its real strengths to come out

    There are some serious hot hatches for this kind of money that would leave the UX in their dust. However, I believe this isn't what the Lexus is chasing - excuse the pun. This entry level series is aimed at being a prestige city car with great fuel economy, a quiet and comfortable ride that Lexus are most famous for and a car that would make any long journey an absolute breeze. Just my opinion.

  • @fivish
    @fivish Рік тому +2

    A hybrid is the only way to get 181 BHP and 54 MPG. Its fast, smooth and quiet.
    Road tax is £170. 0-60 more like 7 seconds. The eCVT is great. Its not a push belt drive!
    It does not drone. The reviewer is not reporting on the car he is driving.

      @McMaster_102 2 роки тому +1

      I know its an older comment but as a UX owner I have to say you won't even feel the CVT. It's extremely smooth and feels almost like driving an electric car, no gear shifts nothing. Also, because it's not a standard belt and pulley design it has no rubber band effect like most CVT's do. The only slight downside is the noise when you floor the car, but the UX has very good sound insulation so even that isn't that big of a deal imo.

  • @Lina_Antoniou
    @Lina_Antoniou 5 років тому

    When exactly did Lexus try to "beat" the SUV trend? Of course it is beatable, all it needs is actual education against megalomania - because SUVs just serve megalomania, nothing else. There is no reason to take up two parking spaces with one vehicle that is supposed to be a car. And don't tell me this is a "crossover". I don't fall for that term, they 're all tall, hefty and numb SUVs - no electronic gimmick will ever defeat the laws of physics. The best cars are the cars that handle corners properly without electronic "assistance", have a manual transmission (dog-leg or H pattern, in no case would I accept a "sequential") and let the driver actually feel how the car interacts with the road. Many manufacturers try to put a fake feel of safety to their cars, which in practice makes them more dangerous (are you listening, VW?). To make a car safe, you don't have to load it with useless weight, luxuries and comfort. You have to make it handle while it keeps the driver alert (without artificial tricks). THAT is how you reduce road accidents.
    Now if the "If you can't beat 'em" part refers to the electric power issue, I don't think this is so much of a problem. The sound issue can easily be resolved by a sound system that makes a petrol engine sound - as long as it isn't so badly done as in the almost-lorry presented in this video. Also, electric cars can still have manual transmission. I think it will help improve range, acceleration and/or top speed, depending on the gearing. Also, with all-around-suited gearing and a proper lever it will retain the driver engagement factor necessary for road safety.

    You can tell where this car is aimed. Hours and hours spent perfecting the door closure sound. A couple of minutes spent getting the audio system to make regular car engine noises. Definitely not a car for anyone that actually enjoys cars.

    Rory ,I have heard through a friend who teaches in Japan that it is poorly received in Japan. Lexus buyers there are highly disappointed with this car ,especially with performance and the CVT, toyota does not do good cvts, they build great automatic transmissions and engines. My friend said the price forecasted in Japan when it comes out was said to be too highs they say buy a Prius
