I'm looking forward to this actually helping me. Depression is bad, I pulled myself out of it once, all by myself, and thought life is finally good, nothing is gonna bring me down again, but I've been proved that every second of life is a challenge, I've fallen into depression once again, this time by a different aspect, but I'm not backing down. I'mma build myself up again. Let the challenge begin!
kaytlen eiles it's really good. Meditation was never my thing before, but it's actually helping me. The calm and concentration is really needed when you reach your breaking point. Let's hope by this time next year, both of us, and everyone else seeking happiness, are happy and this time for good
Search 'the Law of Attraction' ,the moment you drag yourself out of the pit that is depression start apply it (aka think positive thoughts and eliminate the negative ones) If you need help try out things that raise your mood like binual beats or essence oils that raise your vibration.
About to start meditating as a daily habit for the first time. What I find remarkable about your videos is that they all seem to be done in one take. No cuts or edits (I think) Impressive. Keep it up.
Well, Leo, it has taken me years of rebellion and a current health crisis to finally be able to tell the Universe that I am ready for you. And when I finally affirmed it, I found you in less than 60 seconds on youtube. I'm excited and hopeful. Thank you.
I love this. Great, simple advice. There's one caveat though: I'd maybe lighten the statement (I'm paraphrasing) "if you're not going to do this every day, without fail, don't start". That's going to create self pressure that's going to set some personality types up for failure. The last thing you want is self guilt for not following through, which some people will feel when they don't do it. Just go easy on yourself, and if you miss a day or two, it's not the end of the world.
How to meditate... Sit up straight however or wherever you like (don't slouch as you get tired) Calm steady breathes Eyes closed Keep a clear mind (don't think of thought stories) If a thought pops in your head, notice it. Let it go/disappear, bring awareness to breathing or touch senses to help let go of the thought stories but remain still.
This video is missing a key advice for beginners and that's *focus on your breathing.* When people say focus on nothing, well that's literally impossible, and that is a big reason why a lot of people struggle with staying calm. So a trick is you have to give your brain something to occupy itself with by focusing on something that is happening in the present moment. This could be calm music, a fan, humming, or the other thing that you can't control and is always happening: breathing. You are always breathing, every moment of every second, so bring your attention out of your mind, and to the breath. If you try to focus on this idea of *literally nothing* you will start saying in your head "I need to focus on nothing. Nothiiiiing. Focuuuss", which is thinking about something...which means you already defeated yourself, that's just not how the brain works. Whenever you start drifting in thoughts and you catch yourself, just bring your attention back to breathing, hell, count your breaths if you have to. Do not say in your head "oh shoot i need to focus on nothing, darn it!........FOCUSSSSSS" lmao
You are so right. I m a total beginner and the only method is by focusing on the breathing. Good thing I was informed for that by one of the first vids I saw.
MOStein I think focusing on the breath itself is a constraint. You may be carried away by that thought of the breath, thinking about the air coming out of the lungs, the lungs themselves, the heartbeats, then there you go uncontrolled again and taken away.
I don't know why so many dislikes for this video! This guy nailed it with common sense explanations about a very confusing subject for most people. I have been meditating for some years now and I probably couldn't explain what meditation is so clearly! Well done dude!
I disliked this video because I just don't like this guy because he did another video saying that in order for a man not to cheat on you have to be able to grind like a stripper or a porn star and basically look like a stripper or a porn star and look at him! Yuck! He's a jerk!
Don't hold yourself to 20 minutes. That can start to get daunting. It is far better to meditate for 5 minutes, or even 1 minute, than nothing at all that day. Just start meditating everyday. If you want to sit longer once you started, do it! This is the secret to starting any habit. Small steps every day.
That’s exactly what I’ve done. I started with 10 minutes I am up to 15 minutes and I’ve decided to do just 15 minutes for some time before I go longer.
OK so I did the 20 min and I feel calm, for the first time I can rember I feel at peace and my mind isn't racing! thank you very much for the lesson I'm going to keep at it. this helped me control my emotions and anxiety. I'll post in 30 days, thanks Leo Gura!
I have been trying to meditate for 3 months but failing, but its finally been 1 month that i have been meditating daily for 20 minutes without skipping any day. Im going to increase the time by 5 minutes every month till i reach 1 hour. Im pretty sure ive made a commitment cause whenever i used to skip a day i used to feel horrible about not meditating and now id rather die than not maditate What exites me is that im only 18 im still young and meditation is really going to help me find my path and be succesful and moatly happy for the rest of my life. Great video :)
Also there's this thing i use for when i meditate its called "528 Hz DNA upgrade meditation" its calming but i feel a tiny bit scared when i listen to it, its an isochronic tone i think. Whats your opinion about that?
I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was with a yogi in a relationship for 4 years. She was not only my partner but my teacher. The first couple of years I thought most of what she had been saying was nonsense. She was at the point of a 7 year journey. Couple years in I began my own. She planted the seed , never forced. I woke one morning looking in the mirror and had an emotional breakdown. All of a sudden everything she had planted started to sprout. That was about 2 years into our relationship. For the past couple of years I have lived in the toughest time of my life however the calmest. Clarity was a new and overwhelming experience. Past few months I slowly started to slip and as of late I have started to recollect myself. Past few weeks I have felt a calling to meditation. I searched and found your video. I just practiced for the first time what you said and it’s overwhelming to say the least. I had some moments fighting the clouds. There was a distant dog barking which made it difficult. I set my timer for 21 mins to give me a minute to adjust , relax best I could and focus on my breathing. Upon completion of the the 21 min I started to get lost in these waves of green, purple and orange clusters or waves of warm light. Not focusing on them per say but feeling like I was lost in the light and a part of it. The tail end I slipped once more because of the distant barking dog sending me back down in the clouds of thought of how long is this gonna take. It felt like only about 5 mins. When I did my timer went off and spooked me a bit. It was a somewhat comforting yet creepy feeling for lack of better words. I just want to thank you again because I am currently feeling a weird boost in self awareness at the present moment even hearing things outside in a clarity and distance I’ve never noticed before. And a peace. I will not pressure myself however once it passes because I know it’s a daily practice in this journey. Everything is temporary and that is ok. I look forward to continuing day 2 in my new battle / commitment tomorrow and every day after. Thank you
23 years of age, high stress environment from a chaotic life and saw this video and immediately tried meditation for the first time in my life. Harder than my hardest finance classes but those few seconds I finally cleared my head I couldn’t help but to feel a rush of emotions and tears momentarily filled my eyes while I was trying to refocus to get back into the clear moment
Just finishing the last meditation session of the year. Thus, achieving one of my goals for this year: 365 sessions in row. All thanks to this video. Thank you Leo. Your work is changing the lives of thousands. But Leoooo.... Happy New Year!!!!
@@petrsokol588 yes! it has helped A LOT and it's totally worth it. But let me be honest for a sec: I still get depressed sometimes and other heavy mental issues. It's not a magical solution and it works best in the long term, it's a slow process. If I didn't meditate on a daily basis I would be much much worse. This year I have been meditating for four years in a row :-O Just missed one single day last year and that's it. And if I have to compare, I can definitely say I'm mentally getting better each year.
Leo I want to thank you. Thank you for showing me the way to be happy. Thank you for saying we can be whatever we want to be. It took me four years to find the way to real happiness and as soon as I found your videos, everything seemed so much reachable. You have given me the hope I tried to find. So thank you for making those videos and I hope there are going to be more! I'm so proud of your achievements and I know because of you that I can achieve everything I want, just like you did. So thank you very very very much!!!!
@Bhanu Singh hope you’re feeling better and still here with us. You’re an eternal soul having a human (5 senses, free will) experience, sensitive souls often take things to heart or personally too much. Love and forgive yourself, go easier... it does make a difference!❤️✨
Holy .... that makes sense, why didn't I thought of that. The perfect way to train your mind and emotions is to expose yourself to them which is best in a quiet environment and then force yourself to let them go. Makes total sense now. Making the brain buff.
You had some really helpful points in this video. I definitely noticed some aggression in some of the comments you made. Almost like fitness gurus telling someone who’s overweight that they have no excuse for being overweight. “If you’re not going to do it every single day don’t do it.” Comments like that made me feel like I’m joining a pyramid scheme and made me want to run from the idea of meditating.
Saw many videos today about how to meditate..but yours is the most relevant and awesome..Today is children's day here i.e. 14th nov 2017, tomorrow is 15th nov 2017 and I am going to start tomorrow..Please pray for my success..I am a graduate but struggling to get a good job..But I never loose hope... Please pray atleast once for me..
This is just what I needed. My life has been so chaotic for God knows how long. I need this in my life SO bad. I want to change so bad. I’m an opiate addict and have literally ruined my life. I just want peace. I love your channel and can’t wait to watch and receive more of your videos. Thank you.
Hi Leo, Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your work and passion with us and for being so earnest and honest about it. I'm aware that such a thing comes with great sacrifice and toil. Your weekly podcast is an important contributor in helping me understand myself and the world around me, I can confidently open my heart everyday and create beautiful things now.
+Actualized.org Hey Leo, I really want to start meditating eyery day and make it an habit but i have this issue that's stopping me, every time i'm relaxed and ready to start i close my eyes but my eyes won't stop moving it feels like instinct reaction of my habit, i play lots of video games after while you get this tendency to make split second decisions and focus on all things on screen at once, and that's root of my eye movement well that's my conclusion anyway.. i tried not to think about it and just go trough with it but it didn't help, its really distracting and i was wondering could you give me advice on how to perhaps overcome this ''instinct''? i hope you reply. cheers :)
+Fenix Cro I think that's just your brain and your senses being in hyperactive mode cause of the huge amount of stimulation in the video games, so you're not really being relaxed though you said so. A simple suggestion: Play less, take breaks, just learn to meditate - and don't expect huge immediate results. You won't overcome that problem in a minute or one day but eventually you will. Be patient. All the best, buddy!
Oldkidsjonge similar to days 1-4, when I start my meditation almost immediately I can tell how crazy my mind is running and all of the thoughts running wild until I learn to observe them rather then follow them. The more you detach from your thoughts they just fizzle away on their own. Just let go, let go of your thoughts and disassociate with them. Very relaxing and peaceful, im going to keep going!
This is full of so much great advice and I appreciate your brutal honesty. I've meditated here and there, but can usually not get past 60 seconds of head crazy, so I've given up out of boredom. Today will be day one of serious meditation...tomorrow will be day two!
Hi Devon, I am posting some videos about meditation. Some tips on how to not get bored in meditation here ua-cam.com/video/X8xu5jouHVk/v-deo.html and some tips on how to meditate consistently here ua-cam.com/video/01cslU6-fsw/v-deo.html. I hope you find them helpful. 🙏
My brain is so fucked I can't even focus on what he's saying. I try and listen but after a minute or so I realize I'm thinking about something completely unrelated and have to go back and rewind. This happens with everything. Reading a book, watching tv, having a conversation, working, doesn't matter. It's been like this for as long as I can remember and am not sure what the cause is. I am sure that learning to meditate will help but should I seek some professional help for this? (Edit: I'm a 23 year old male in case this info is needed.)
I just meditate for a few days and started to notice the difference. I have same problem reading, like reading same sentence a lot of times or keep focus when someone talks. Hopefully meditation will help immensly with that. :)
I got ADD but meds don't help, I found I'm better focused if I meditate regularly. Your millage may vary, so try out some binual beats n such if your mind wanders off to quickly.
You are perfectly normal. Don't believe in these losers. It is normal for you to wander. When you are inteligent that is the norm. You just need to learn how to focus better. But wandering means you have many thoughts, many ideas, many energy, that is being normal. Meditation is not this BS, Meditation can be just focus on your life, being happy with what you have, contemplating why you should be happy.... medidation is not about "thinking about nothing"....
Leo Thank you for this,.. I am From India , we have this meditations for 1000 our more years in our history, and now days people of our contry getting use to western culture , i feel sad that people in our contry getting off on this amzing yoga and meditate .,.. i have started from today of 20 minute meditation and from today i will do it till the next year ....anything happen i wont stop ...hope i tell more people about what u have teach me :) god bless you man
thatguyoverthere06 You should think before you speak. Yoga in practice has been dated back to, in recorded history, 4000 years b.c. and is thought to be much older. The people of the Indus river valley (present day India) we're the first to have sculptures of people practicing yoga, they also passed on oral traditions still around in India to this day that speak of yoga.
Leo, you have thouroughly coverred every aspect of meditation. I describe the biggest benefit to my understanding is this actual connection with myself. To be with myself. Nothing else exists. After 6 months of meditation, I enterred into a romantic relationship.... Eventually, I stopped meditating, next thing you know, I abandoned my self. my purpose and direction in life... Result? End of my relationship ended. What have I learned from this? Stay connected (with self) through mediatation. Thanks for this video. I will start my 30 day challenge today November 24,2023
Hey there, i've been struggling with myself for the last year. I've been unhappy most of the time because of love, stress and feeling alone mainly even tho i have lots of people around me. What makes me sad the most is the fact that my life the way i live it should be fun but for some strange reason i can't get enjoyment out of it. I can't seem to stop my negative thinking processes or stop thinking about things at all, i feel restless in my mind. For the last few months i've been using drugs to calm down or 'have fun'. And as you said in your video it's a very rollercoaster like feeling, with more downs than ups. I can recognize myself in alot of things you say in your video aswell. I just tryed the 20 minutes, it was diffecult but i managed to calm a few seconds a few times in my mind. Mainly i struggled sitting still and my back was killing me, so unintentionnally i was focussing on that alot. Do i need to train/ stretch my muscles aside from the 20 minutes meditation? or does it get easer by just doing the 20 minutes every day? Thank you for this explanation because it's really nice knowing that you cannot fail if you just keep the habit going, that really gives me some self-assurance. I hope this will very slowly but surely give my mind some peace.
Hey pal! I didnt read all of your text but glimpsed at the the Part with the backproblem. I'm trying to meditate for a while now and since 2-3 weeks i'm just training every day to sit still and straight for 20 minutes. At first my back killed me too, but the muscles adaped pretty fast. Just keep going and try to get the form right from the start. dont rush something that your body cant keep up yet. Stretching the back isn't so suitable, think more about the hip or legmuscles. You could stretch some of your muslce if you've got a specific Problem. (e.g you sit all day long and you cant get a straight back in a relaxed state, because some of your muscles are shortened and pull your bones/hip in an unhealthy position) if you want to know more about some specific thing about anatomy/posture, pm me. Otherwise good luck
A friend told me about a whole new world, i dident even know excited! Meditation, the pineal gland and so on! I really can't wait to begin meditating and to hopefully master my mind some day.. To get away The unsecured girl, the bad things in my relationship and to be a more came mother to my child! Thank you Leo for this great video, so I know where to start! Xo Camilla from DK
LEO GURA! Dude your channel is really starting to pick up subscribers fast! Every day or two I go without watching your channel I see that you've picked up 1 or 2k subscribers!! I remember when I first subscribed you had 4k subscribers! I can't wait until you hit a million bro! You've provided so much value for me in my life already! Thanks for all that you do! Got to go meditate now!
Thank you. You are describing pretty much the way I learned to meditate from a local person some years ago. It has helped me immensely. A friend has asked me to teach her how to meditate and you have said it better than I could. I've shared this video with her. My best regards to you.
It's funny how being grounded by our parents in all actuality was their way of doing us a favor stripping away tv, video games, etc. Look at the word "being grounded", it's hand in hand with meditation. As much as I was grounded if I knew much about the situation then id be a monk right now.
Awesome Video! I've been meditating since 2010 on and off. So many issues happen, it's definitely not a perfect ride. I really like how you say "even if you meditate for 5 minutes and inner chatter for 15" you still completed it. I tend to be hard on myself, considering the times in the past where I had an amazing session, but a very good reminder. And remembering Why your doing it... thanks Leo.
There is no such thing as good. Next time you sit down, try simply accepting everything that is happening in this very moment. Everything. The good, the bad, the ugly. Everything. Just accept it and be at peace with the discomfort and crazy thoughts.
Actualized.org If we just accept everything, good and bad, can't that demotivate us from doing things that would actually objectively improve our lives, or the world in general?
orlando098 So your solution is to not accept reality and instead lie about it to yourself and get pissy? You want to use that as fuel for building a great life and a great society?
No, I guess I just wondered how far you would take the accepting bit - I can't remember the exact quote, but I seem to remember there are Buddhist teachings saying stuff along the lines that an enlightened person should be able to eat dung and a gourmet meal with equal equanimity, or something... If you are totally accepting of the bad, then why would you make efforts to change it, I mean?
Im the atmosphere and my thoughts are the clouds...... thats just insane. Great anchoring tool to keep on track while meditating. I say it to my self everytime i go off track and it works like a charm.
It's also more than just a metaphore. It actually turns out to be the case that what you are is empty consciousness in which all shit arises. Keep meditating long enough and you might glimpse this.
Wow I can´t believe what I just experienced with my very first time meditating. I paused the video to try it, I played some nature sounds and suddenly a thought through other though came to my mind. I got back many times and tried to avoid those bad thoughts and tried to be focused in my breath and body senses. I'm feeling lightweight in just 20 minutes, I can't imagine what meditation can do in my live from now on.
You did lose me at the point where you said 'Meditation needs to be done daily'. Yeah, I get it, but this makes one go to the pitfall of "I didn't meditate today -> no point then -> fuck this." I think the common misconception of developing a habit is a strict regime. No, it's actually starting again after your given up over and over again. 'Okay, I failed today, I'm gonna try next time tomorrow. And so, by doing that you don't beat yourself up but eventually develop a habit. It's pretty much how I developed a habit of meditating. I still skip some days, but so what? If I eventually do it more and more often, that's the goal. The goal is peace not beating oneself up, isn't it?
Yes I had issues with my breathing & some of my close ones suggested to not to meditate when I asked. It's been 3months I tried after getting a break but my habit broke & whenever I try to concentrate on my breath or listen to my heartbeat my mind says what if my heart gonna stop. I now have that fear in my mind... I wanna do meditate as I have so many troubles bc of not doing it but I want another way rather than concentrating on breathing or heartbeat...
26 days into at least a 20 minute meditation tryout. Many benefits. 1 ) When I see someone I realize I know ,now I know how I know them . 2) the other day I was at the gas station and reached for my credit card. It was not where it usually sits in my wallet. I used my back- up card and immediately remembered where I had placed the card. When I got home I went into the laundry basket and got the card from a breast pocket in my tee shirt.3) generally a better feeling of being at peace with myself.
Thank you so much Leo for your interesting videos. I have watched your videos in different periods in my life, both good and bad times. Now I feel like I really want to start meditating consistently. I have pretty much everything I wanted in my life, a good job, a university exam, engaged with the love of my life, and good friends (I am 25). But I feel like I need more calmness in my life. I am never really pleased and I want to feel more greatful for the things I have, but also find the strengh to believe that I can do much more in life. My emotions and bad thoughts sometimes stop me from achieving things, and I think that meditation is the key to true hapiness and achievements. I want to be better to control my emotions, and have a better self-esteem. I think highly of myself sometimes but really bad other times, which is because of my ego. Instead, I want to challenge myself more and not think about if I will fail or not. And accepting failures. Thank you again, and greetings from Sweden!
I have been meditating for 6 months now... Wow. It's definetly one of my habits by now. I feel more focused and anytime I want I can control where I put my focus on. Other than that I really don't see any other benefits. Yet. Meditation is kinda hard nowadays. Maybe it's because I always do it in the same place. I often lose my focus many times for more than 5 minutes. 6 months 20min/day! - Josh, 15, Finland
The consistency of meditation is absolutely true, do it daily. But when I stopped for one year and came back to it, it was totally easier for me to get to the process and make it simple. Like if you quit work out and come back you lose your gains but the results are coming faster than if you'd do it for the first time because of muscle memory, this also applies for meditation.
Thank you for sharing the importance of sitting straight up during meditation. When meditating, I would sit straight up with no support but then find myself later slouching which would really, really relax me and cause me to become sleepy. I become mentally open, clear and relaxed which is the goal but also sleepy like a baby. Lol! Chakra layout meditation puts me to sleep half of the time as well so I typically do that at night before bed. Today, I was trying to figure out how I could meditate without putting myself to sleep and the universe guided me here. Thank you again for sharing your experience and knowledge.
Don't start at 20 minutes. Meditating for 5 minutes straight is already quite difficult if you haven't tried it before. Start with 5 minutes and add 5 minutes every week until you get to 20 minutes or however long you want to get to. Starting at 20 minutes is going to be very difficult so start small and build your way up. You'll realize the benefits after a few weeks.
Wonderful video Leo, but I would have to say you got one thing very wrong: after my first 20 minutes of meditation I feel WAY better. It is totally possible to have instant positive effects. Thank you for this new tool :) I knew I had to start meditating when my brain felt so fried, I am always so anxious and I’m literally addicted to the internet, I’m always listening to UA-cam or something in the background. I think this happened last year when I was stuck in a really bad job to escape the present moment but now I am ready to get back into my body and mind again. I feel like I had a great rest but not my body but my mind. I was procrastinating on starting this for quite a while... but I finally am going try the 30 day challenge and I’m certain this will help me a lot.
Hi, glad to hear this video helped you to start meditating. It's been a life changing practice for me and and hope it will benefit you. I made a video on tips to meditate consistently if you're interested ... ua-cam.com/video/01cslU6-fsw/v-deo.html
Love the education. I have seen so many over the years and I keep coming back. I will probably end up watching all of them more then once. Lol. Amazing! So thankful for you. ❤️
First listened to this over 6 years ago it started my meditation ruite. 6 years iv now been meditating 10 mins in morn and 10 mins b4 bed .. thank you for changing my life 🙏
@@HostGhost666 Thank you for your message, I have meditated for up to an hour when I tried it but yes 10 mins is a good one to do regular. Meditation has and is still making such a difference in my life and to people around me cos I'm calmer, confidant and focused now. Keep going with your meditation it's a life changer 🙂
inquired about a course in TM and although their philosophy states that the benefits of TM should be learnt and taught for the betterment of the individual, town, city, village and thus the entire world...It will cost any joe blow $960 dollars to have a instructor teach you this technique...I appreciate your straight talk.Greg Coggins
Don't be cheap with your personal development. I just paid $2000 to learn more about my consciousness. What the hell else are you gonna use you money for? Movie and a popcorn?
Actualized.org Leo, there are several of your comments I started to reply too.. you have a good way of just stating it simply. It's easy to miss the importance sometimes. Don't be cheap on your personal development. This one really is more important than it sounds. I appreciate that you make so many replies here. Well done. Thanks for sharing what you have worked hard to gain!
It is all very well saying that money is just an encumberance to enlightenment and that the best use of it is to attain enlightenment... but what of those who cannot afford, say, $750 to learn *basic meditation* or any of the myriad of courses and retreats offered in the spiritual sector. What of those who can barely afford to eat. ie. Those NOT already encumbered with disposable wealth. I am dismayed to find that even buddhist monks charge their communities huge sums for each and every little course, of which there are an endless supply. This results in mindfulness being little more than a fashion statement for the middle classes. And, oh look... To market the lifestyle to us all here's Richard Gere to tell us more (Have you seen those videos?) I've seen two dozen yoga moms and their guru, with their cushions and bolsters and monkey chatter... file past a man sleeping rough in a doorway and into their SUV's. Eastern concepts, brought west, become mere commerce. So, what *is* a fair price to pay to be set on the road to enlightenment? Easy... To perform work, in the service of your community and your fellow man. But, perhaps that concept is just a little *too* eastern to take hold here.
At first, I admit I wasn't convinced at first about this video but you made me see that what you say it's true. I've seen several vids about meditation but you don't need courses or books or that much stuff. Just sitting, watching your posture and focusing on breathing, allowing the thoughts to roam free but training our minds to focus again. That's something that I've tried endlessly and it's always scattered. I'm afraid I lack that constant will but this is something long overdue. At last, now I now my first 2y will be hell! Thanks for the thumbs up! *laughing* Anyway, I definitely will watch the self-esteem vid too. Great job in simplifying meditation! :)
Have you tried counting your breaths, start at 1 ,2, 3 and repeat. Then slowly build it up to 1 to 10 and repeat. This is zazen technic and I may help, but whichever technic you use just persevere even if its minutes each day.
One of the best channels i´ve ever seen on youtube. Congrats man!!!!!! One more subscribe and just keep doing this awesome work. Greetings from Brazil!!
My Takeaway Set Alarm, start with 20 Spine straight, tiredness, sleeplessness is due to angle in spine, avoid that Take support to back if you want, be comfortable Focus on nothingness, that is centre point.. Not breathing in particular or visualisation or mantra, just nothingness... (Doubtful about this) If your mind wonders, catch and take back to centre and this entire process is meditation Having any doubts in the middle of session, range of emotions, feeling of doing it wrong - You are doing it just right, that's all you need to know, wanting to know read and then start meditation is a sneaky way of procrastinating on meditation Middle or mainly end of session, It doesn't not necessarily make you calm, peaceful, happy etc feelings, you might be agitated, frustrated and this is completely normal, Do it consistently for months years, pick whatever reason motivates you My reason: Strengthens PFC
Hello from another Meditator. You have explained such a broad topic in such a precise, concise manner. Love your explanation. You have talked about your experience well.
Day 2. Meditation has already opened my eyes a little Is this normal? I can only imagine the beneftis after years of doing this. This is the best discovery I ever made.. How I have been using other people to try to satisfy myself and other external factors I have got glimpse of it already after 2 days
yes, i believe anything u experience is normal for you ☺ well done. Leo, is it?, said only one thing i disagreed with and that was how he seemed very adamant that fantastic results can only come from months or even years. For ME this couldn't be further from the truth! I'm a very infrequent meditator and yet I have truly amazing physiological as well as, let's just say 'extra normal' experiences from only 3 to 7 days of daily meditating... i take to it well. Everyone is different so i believe you did and can again see the results you want much faster than is expected by 'Leo'. Good luck. I'm going to commit to 'daily no matter what' from now on - not because it's suggested, but because it's reminded me how I'm always happier and calmer when I do!
Meditation day 1: All i could keep thinking about was that my mouth kept filling up with saliva and I kept needing to swallow which I thought was disturbing the meditation!
+Emma Harrop That's good, Emma! Building up saliva is an indication that your energy is flowing properly. In the old days they called that "elixer" - and its good for you. Swallow on the exhale. Around the time you generate saliva, you might also notice a pleasant heat or energy sensation, mostly in your hands, upper arms, and likely feet and calves. All this is indication of progress, so keep going!
The prayer is often seen as a form of meditation but if you analyze the mechanics of a prayer, it is essentially hijacking or distracting your mind from being able to become the 'atmosphere' or the observer and master of your own thoughts. A prayer might help center yourself for a few seconds but it doesn't really go deep enough and there's no deliberate effort to take dominion over ones reactionary 'monkey mind'.
+Matt van den Ham That's very low-quality understanding of what prayer is and how it works. True prayer is more akin to contemplation towards enlightenment. And it's very effective when done right. It's totally different from asking God for shit your ego desires.
It's not a "low quality understanding" at all. That's a very ego driven response to judge my understanding of this topic. You aren't informed of my personal experiences. I am simply making an observation of the differences between conventional prayer where you pray to a god versus using your minds eye to analyze your thoughts. And just because your view or definition of prayer doesn't align with my description doesn't make the observation any less true for most people who pray to win a football game or get a raise, for example.
He means your understanding is one-dimensional. You can't have a one-size-fits-all definition of prayer, and if your prayer is something as superficial as that, then it isn't really prayer at all. Prayer is supposed to be communication with one's spirituality or a divine being, not throwing a Hail Mary pass and hoping someone catches it. That's called "prayer" colloquially, but that's not the meaningful, cultivative form of prayer that Leo is referring to. I do think entreaty can be a part of prayer, but not you remove all meditative elements from it.
Well if meditation is the non judgmental observation of ones thoughts then praying to a god can fundamentally interferes with that. Prayer is often used to ask god for favors and provide answers, which is basically someone speaking to themselves in their own head.
Both meditation and prayer has the potential to be very effectful or crappy. Teresa of Avila & Meister Eckhart didn't do the average "speaking to themselves in their own head" style of prayer...
I sometimes imagine thoughts as bubbles that I can just pop with my finger, or imagine fears that come to my mind as tennis balls that I imagine shrinking and then roll away and thay helped me so much ... I used to be scared af of presentations in school and then while meditating I remembered that I had to do this presentation in a few days, my heart already started beating fast bc I was scared af, but then I did the tennis ball thing and I wasn't scared AT ALL before the presentation. 💙
massacre soldier Killer I always think my phone isnt working so I end my meditation and check my phone. Everytime there is 5 minutes 40 seconds left on the clock haha
FlyingHippies Haha yes, I once did a 2 hour meditation "retreat" in my basement and the predominant thought was: "What if it won't ring and I'll lie here all day?"
***** Sure. I've largely stopped doing that tho. I make sure I take a very mindful look at the timere starting to count down b4 I begin. And if I forget to, I'll remember in 20 seconds and look again. Then I can meditate in peace for the 59 minutes left.
I just meditated for 20 minutes after watching your video and wow. I always thought it was like sleeping but the position of my body kept me awake and I was fully aware yet not thinking. I now understand the dance of it. It wasnt difficult until I released myself then i saw my thoughts instead of thinking them while thinking nothing or thinking of a white wall or black darkness. I feel you've shown me something that could really help me so thank you.
My thoughts go like this: "Ok. No thoughts!.........I'm not thinking, it's not that hard hahaha whats all the holla about that.. you just don't think.........FUUUUCK IM Thinking!!" hahahaha
PokeyMeansBusiness Who is you? Point to the one you think is you. Notice carefully that whatever you point at will NOT be you, it will be a fleeting sensation. Are you a sensation? Do you disappear when the sensation disappears to which you are pointing? And who is doing the pointing?!!! Notice again that it's still not you.
"I" am a collection of the five skandhas. Just in the same way that I label a chair as "chair," and not claim that it is only a collection of atoms and not actually a chair. Of course it's a chair. Just in the same way that I am me. We label and conceptualize things because we are human and that is an easy way to store information. Are you talking about the Buddhist concept of anatta?
hey leo, i discovered your videos a couple of days ago and i must say you are slowly changing my life and i highly appreciate it. i have many questions for you, but for now i just want to ask you about something you mentioned at the end of this video. when you say reaching a state of loss of ego..when you eventually reach that state, how do you deal with the majority of people around who aren't like you and probably unaware of that state to begin with. wouldn't you be considered a push over? a weak person?
Layal Watfeh Of course "I" cannot imagine it because "I" is the problem. Once the "I" is gone, there's nothing left to wonder about. All is clear without thinking.
Layal Watfeh There's no such thing in reality. There is only your opinion of what you THINK is other people's opinions. All of it is your neurotic mind at work.
23 October 2016, My girlfriend of 3 years has broken up with me and i don't remember what it's like to be alone, I need to learn to find inner peace, today is starts.
Stale Boy I meditated for the same reason once, it honestly does work, darkness, one crystal floating, think about it. Also search green chakra energy meditation
Thanks for sharing this perceptions. I used to meditate a lot but i stopped it by some months because i realized i was not the kind of person i was trying to be. But some weeks ago i come back doing it and now i know meditation is the essence of my life. I hope you find your goals and may the source of serenity you want. peace
I meditate every morning at 8am, and I live stream it! If anyone maybe needs some support feel free to subscribe to my channel and Boom make a change with me!
I have the (Headspace) app. I started doing meditation not long time ago and started with short 5 or 10 minutes sessions. What I like about it is it shows in a short video how the mind wanders around and how to just bring it back without frustration. After watching your video I'm even more convinced to keep doing that. You explained exactly how it works in simple words. You're inspiring. Thanks for sharing all this information.

Forever_Young Galaxy I’ve been in the same boat. I’ve never tried meditation but I’m hoping to learn- and to permanently keep myself happy and lifted
kaytlen eiles it's really good. Meditation was never my thing before, but it's actually helping me. The calm and concentration is really needed when you reach your breaking point.
Let's hope by this time next year, both of us, and everyone else seeking happiness, are happy and this time for good

👍🏻
Intelligent clear and to the point , I like your approach just what I personally needed.

How to meditate...
Sit up straight however or wherever you like (don't slouch as you get tired)
Calm steady breathes
Eyes closed
Keep a clear mind (don't think of thought stories)
If a thought pops in your head, notice it. Let it go/disappear, bring awareness to breathing or touch senses to help let go of the thought stories but remain still.
Why did you betray Morpheus?

Thanks for this 😃
You are so right. I m a total beginner and the only method is by focusing on the breathing. Good thing I was informed for that by one of the first vids I saw.
@Seb ye that works. That's what i do to.
MOStein I think focusing on the breath itself is a constraint. You may be carried away by that thought of the breath, thinking about the air coming out of the lungs, the lungs themselves, the heartbeats, then there you go uncontrolled again and taken away.
Very true. Breathing is foundation to both yoga and meditation. This video is a bullshit.
I'll give you 10$ if you tattoo a Blue arrow on your head.

Wise!
exactly!
That’s exactly what I’ve done. I started with 10 minutes I am up to 15 minutes and I’ve decided to do just 15 minutes for some time before I go longer.
I had that in mind because that's how I start off in all things I do. Slow and steady and gradually build steam.
Thanks
OK so I did the 20 min and I feel calm, for the first time I can rember I feel at peace and my mind isn't racing! thank you very much for the lesson I'm going to keep at it. this helped me control my emotions and anxiety. I'll post in 30 days, thanks Leo Gura!
I feel exactly the same after just one session, opened my eyes and was like wow, all the negative shit I was thinking before hand just vanished.

He died from meditation overdose
How's it going now?
I can bet you no longer meditate. People just hook themselves to something but lose motivation and stop it. At least this is true for me.

Thank you
I need this badly in my life. I'm so thankful I found this video. Thank you.

Joey Lust good. Now do it more and everyday for the rest of your life.
Just finishing the last meditation session of the year. Thus, achieving one of my goals for this year: 365 sessions in row. All thanks to this video. Thank you Leo. Your work is changing the lives of thousands. But Leoooo.... Happy New Year!!!!
Has it helped you? Is it worth it? I'm really curious about that.
carimusic can you please eplain benefits/pros that you achieved?
Amazing! i've just discovered Leo! he's amazing!!!
carimusic happy new year
@@petrsokol588 yes! it has helped A LOT and it's totally worth it.
Holy .... that makes sense, why didn't I thought of that.
How do you join pyramid scheme when you just sit in your room?
Are you stupid?

Emil Svensson i truly appreciate your suggestion,i will try my best. thanks Emil.
He taught many things but fail to understand that meditation is demonic and dangerous. There's no point
November 17,2016. Today begins daily meditation for the rest of my life.
How's day 5?

How’s your meditation habit now ?
My brain is so fucked I can't even focus on what he's saying. I try and listen but after a minute or so I realize I'm thinking about something completely unrelated and have to go back and rewind. This happens with everything. Reading a book, watching tv, having a conversation, working, doesn't matter. It's been like this for as long as I can remember and am not sure what the cause is. I am sure that learning to meditate will help but should I seek some professional help for this?
(Edit: I'm a 23 year old male in case this info is needed.)
Austin Johnson talk to a gp or meditate or stop using the internet if you feel you use it too much
I just meditate for a few days and started to notice the difference.
It is about not thinking. Thanks to that you can see better what you do in your life and change bad habits to better ones.
I dont believe in coincidence. I found these videos at a time when I needed it the most. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.

Abhijeet Singh do it for rest of your life not till next year :) cheers
Abhijeet Singh How's it going?
Abhijeet Singh yoga was made up in the 1970's and is not in anyway ancient or a tradition.
thatguyoverthere06 You should think before you speak.
I finally found it. After years. This was the only video that helped me meditate for the first time ever. 11 out of 10 super happy
Yep agreed 💯
+Kurupt CS:GO You can sit on a couch or comfy chair.
DrSuperDramaMario thanks, i'll try that. i've done 20 minutes for a weke now, and the pain is already getting less. so progress is there
Sending you positive energy love and light

Thanks man! :)
Thank you. You are describing pretty much the way I learned to meditate from a local person some years ago. It has helped me immensely. A friend has asked me to teach her how to meditate and you have said it better than I could. I've shared this video with her. My best regards to you.
At what time during the day do you usually meditate? I made commitment to myself to start, my life needs redirection and I believe this will help me
To see how to do it (the process) go to 14:06 :)
thanks
+jaime diez Thanks!!

Thx babah
Thanks. This video is freaking long.
It's funny how being grounded by our parents in all actuality was their way of doing us a favor stripping away tv, video games, etc. Look at the word "being grounded", it's hand in hand with meditation. As much as I was grounded if I knew much about the situation then id be a monk right now.
justin scott and that's amazing thought

Shared. I love the down to earth, relatable, approach.
The swearing made it real for me, un sugar coated, attention grabbers, so to say. Thank you.
Actualized.org can i play calm music
+Actualized.org Fascinating.
Thank you UA-cam 🙏🙏
I don’t know how we do without you.
my mind drifted away for like 50 times while watching this video.. lol I need to meditate😂
No, you don't need a man - I you realised that you are on you best way. Continue realising drifting...
Sometimes the drift can be good if it leads you to something productive.
Gaurav Sabhachandani me too
His description of the monkey is super accurate. I had to bulldoze it back to this video quite alot
I got so good at meditating, i forgot to breath.
waterflowzz then you breached the no-breath border of meditation or something
Yes I had issues with my breathing & some of my close ones suggested to not to meditate when I asked. It's been 3months I tried after getting a break but my habit broke & whenever I try to concentrate on my breath or listen to my heartbeat my mind says what if my heart gonna stop. I now have that fear in my mind... I wanna do meditate as I have so many troubles bc of not doing it but I want another way rather than concentrating on breathing or heartbeat...
Breathe.
You also forgot how to spell too.
No?
This is the most useful video about meditation I’ve ever met.
I managed the watch this steady for 34mins. That is a kind of meditation!
I thought the same lol
Lol I feel asleep half way through
you are living proof of meditating benefits. great video!
When I got home I went into the laundry basket and got the card from a breast pocket in my tee shirt.3) generally a better feeling of being at peace with myself.
paul Hennessey Still meditating, what’s the benefits if you do. Thanks
I too am curious.
Do you remember your card number and cvv too? Curious if meditation helps in remembering numbers too. I would br impressed if you prove it to me
gosh.... you are into something!!!! you will invent the wheel pretty soon
That’s because you’re human, Jesus says if you drink from his water, you will have springs of living water and will not be thirsty.

Juubes notice anything else yet?
The consistency of meditation is absolutely true, do it daily. But when I stopped for one year and came back to it, it was totally easier for me to get to the process and make it simple. Like if you quit work out and come back you lose your gains but the results are coming faster than if you'd do it for the first time because of muscle memory, this also applies for meditation.
Finally, someone making sense of meditation
How's your meditation now
@@itsa_miifromyourwii3966 i stopped meditating after my anxiety faded
@@itsa_miifromyourwii3966 i stopped meditating after a few months. now i only use it to calm myself before holding my breath underwater
Great explanation of meditation, it did helped me out to understand certain things I couldn't comprehend. Thank you much bro
Wonderful video Leo, but I would have to say you got one thing very wrong: after my first 20 minutes of meditation I feel WAY better. It is totally possible to have instant positive effects. Thank you for this new tool :)
I knew I had to start meditating when my brain felt so fried, I am always so anxious and I’m literally addicted to the internet, I’m always listening to UA-cam or something in the background.
This video really helped me to start meditating, I feel so refreshed and will be turning meditation into a daily habit
Hi, glad to hear this video helped you to start meditating. It's been a life changing practice for me and and hope it will benefit you. I made a video on tips to meditate consistently if you're interested ... ua-cam.com/video/01cslU6-fsw/v-deo.html
I am totally new to this, but your teaching is infectious :)
Mr-Kai Plays-Games 6 videos? wow! they are so long you must have been on UA-cam for 4h straight :D
Love the education. I have seen so many over the years and I keep coming back. I will probably end up watching all of them more then once. Lol. Amazing! So thankful for you. ❤️
First listened to this over 6 years ago it started my meditation ruite. 6 years iv now been meditating 10 mins in morn and 10 mins b4 bed .. thank you for changing my life 🙏
Just 10 min? Why not longer? I’m sure 10 is fine but I would think after several years you would extend that time
@@HostGhost666 Thank you for your message, I have meditated for up to an hour when I tried it but yes 10 mins is a good one to do regular. Meditation has and is still making such a difference in my life and to people around me cos I'm calmer, confidant and focused now. Keep going with your meditation it's a life changer 🙂
Started today. Went through only 12 minutes. But i am satisfied. Its a long journey and a great start. Thanks Leo.
inquired about a course in TM and although their philosophy states that the benefits of TM should be learnt and taught for the betterment of the individual, town, city, village and thus the entire world...It will cost any joe blow $960 dollars to have a instructor teach you this technique...I appreciate your straight talk.Greg Coggins
To market the lifestyle to us all here's Richard Gere to tell us more (Have you seen those videos?)
I've seen two dozen yoga moms and their guru, with their cushions and bolsters and monkey chatter... file past a man sleeping rough in a doorway and into their SUV's.
It's really hard not to pay attention to the thoughts when you have OCD and all of your thoughts are unbelievably scary...
Have you tried counting your breaths, start at 1 ,2, 3 and repeat. Then slowly build it up to 1 to 10 and repeat. This is zazen technic and I may help, but whichever technic you use just persevere even if its minutes each day.
I did my 1st meditation today. thank you again.
One of the best channels i´ve ever seen on youtube. Congrats man!!!!!! One more subscribe and just keep doing this awesome work. Greetings from Brazil!!
Welcome aboard! :)
Yea Leo is pretty awesome! Glad I discovered this guy, makes me want to go out and be the best I can be!
My Takeaway
Set Alarm, start with 20
Spine straight, tiredness, sleeplessness is due to angle in spine, avoid that
Take support to back if you want, be comfortable
Focus on nothingness, that is centre point.. Not breathing in particular or visualisation or mantra, just nothingness... (Doubtful about this)
If your mind wonders, catch and take back to centre and this entire process is meditation
Having any doubts in the middle of session, range of emotions, feeling of doing it wrong - You are doing it just right, that's all you need to know, wanting to know read and then start meditation is a sneaky way of procrastinating on meditation
Middle or mainly end of session, It doesn't not necessarily make you calm, peaceful, happy etc feelings, you might be agitated, frustrated and this is completely normal,
Do it consistently for months years, pick whatever reason motivates you
My reason: Strengthens PFC
Finally I understand thank you :) Is it normal to feel scared at times while doing it like a over whelming fear??
Yes
+Actualized.org Thank you
Overwhelming fear? Why would you have that?
yes because its a strange feeling having to deal with yourself alone .
That's bizarre. I have never had that feeling before. Maybe that's because I'm a introvert.
Hello from another Meditator. You have explained such a broad topic in such a precise, concise manner. Love your explanation. You have talked about your experience well.
Day 2.
Meditation has already opened my eyes a little
Is this normal?
I can only imagine the beneftis after years of doing this.
This is the best discovery I ever made..
How I have been using other people to try to satisfy myself and other external factors
I have got glimpse of it already after 2 days
yes, i believe anything u experience is normal for you ☺
well done.
+Erik Tydinger well you should definitely try tai chi
Meditation day 1: All i could keep thinking about was that my mouth kept filling up with saliva and I kept needing to swallow which I thought was disturbing the meditation!
+Binyamin Ferentz Guys like you are the fucking reason feminists wont stop bothering us other guys lol
Meditation can be full of disturbances, but only as long as you feel disturbed! Peace is when the disturbances don't disturb you.
+Binyamin Ferentz savage dude damn
+Emma Harrop That's good, Emma! Building up saliva is an indication that your energy is flowing properly. In the old days they called that "elixer" - and its good for you. Swallow on the exhale. Around the time you generate saliva, you might also notice a pleasant heat or energy sensation, mostly in your hands, upper arms, and likely feet and calves. All this is indication of progress, so keep going!
+Emma Harrop Try holding your mouth normally, but put your tongue on the back of you upper teeth
This information is great. Thank you
Wow. Thank you for explaining meditation is such a seamless and coherent way!
Best video on meditation out there. Thank you very much!
The best explanation of meditation I have ever heard. Thank you.
I just meditated for 10 minutes and it felt like 30 seconds
I tried it once and it was the opposite. Did 30 seconds felt like 10 mins
try it for 3 hours :))
Same for me. I did a beginner video for 5 min and I was like "its over already"?
I tried doin 30 mins expecting to fail at 15 or so, but it was 1 hour
a like for every blissfull second
the most common thought i got is when the hell is my phone goin to ring
massacre soldier Killer Lol I totally know what you mean, same here. But at the same time, its just one more thought to learn to let go of! :)
massacre soldier Killer I always think my phone isnt working so I end my meditation and check my phone. Everytime there is 5 minutes 40 seconds left on the clock haha
FlyingHippies Haha yes, I once did a 2 hour meditation "retreat" in my basement and the predominant thought was: "What if it won't ring and I'll lie here all day?"
I thought about that the last minute
*****
Sure.
How is it going now? Still meditating every day?
So motivating. Thank you
My thoughts go like this: "Ok. No thoughts!.........I'm not thinking, it's not that hard hahaha whats all the holla about that.. you just don't think.........FUUUUCK IM Thinking!!" hahahaha
Yup! Also wonder to yourself, Who is actually thinking? Notice that no Who can be found!
Actualized.org yes there is. there is me. i am me. you are you. are you referring to anatta?
Actualized.org wtf.
hey leo, i discovered your videos a couple of days ago and i must say you are slowly changing my life and i highly appreciate it. i have many questions for you, but for now i just want to ask you about something you mentioned at the end of this video.
when you say reaching a state of loss of ego..when you eventually reach that state, how do you deal with the majority of people around who aren't like you and probably unaware of that state to begin with. wouldn't you be considered a push over? a weak person?
At that stage there is no you to be pushed over, so the question doesn't even makes sense. You're asking an egoic question.
Makes sense... But since am not there yet I can't imagine how that feels like
Layal Watfeh Of course "I" cannot imagine it because "I" is the problem. Once the "I" is gone, there's nothing left to wonder about. All is clear without thinking.
Totally get your post leo. But my question was more regarding the opinion of people around you of YOU and not your opinion of yourself
Stale Boy I hope it is going good for you. I'm sorry to hear about your breakup. I actually wanna try this stuff also to find meaning in my life. ✌
Stale Boy I meditated for the same reason once, it honestly does work, darkness, one crystal floating, think about it. Also search green chakra energy meditation
