THE best recording I've heard. And the orchestra under Dudamel finally sounds the way I've always thought it should be!!! All smiles here... Love this.
I love how Cestari makes this piece his own and doesn't copy/do things that normal cellists may do while playing this piece. He doesn't use well-known methods of playing the Lalo, but really plays this piece in a way that 'works.' Amazing!
Loveit! Impassioned molto simpatico performance by conductor, cellist and orchestra that full-blooded reveals all the delightful musical intricacies of the work as if time never dared to pass...
@Dan Wruck yep, Apparently when Gautier Capuçon plays with am orchestra, he will take part in the orchestra in the cello section for the remainder of the concert. Someone on youtube comments stated that they saw him perform the dvorak cello concerto. Afterword the symphony played Dvorak's 8th symphony, low and behold Gautier was amongst the cello section playing.
This is really entertaining...........Cestari is playing truly beatyful ........and visually so pleasant to watch ...because you see that he does NOT show off on stage He truly feels what he is playing ........his playing "Gets to you " .........................
This dude is off the charts... That's a bad bad man. Beautiful. Bravo.

+Tony C I dont know anything about the shift from thumb position back into regular positions. Why is this unusual?
This is the Lalo I want to hear. Excellent performance !
even 13 years later this is the most definitive recording of this piece on the internet
I'm enjoying the full, but mellow tone he has. Especially on this piece.
this made me reconsider this concerto, great performance.
And that black cello is so fucking cool, just like maestro Cestari lol
Shame he doesn't use it anymore, it is now in the UK.
@@stefanrogers9091 what cello is that?
El Maestro Virtuoso William Molina Cestari. 🙌 👏👏👏

Wow! This guy could have a huge solo career if he wanted... Evidently prefers to be the principal cellist...

He feels and perfectly follows the conductor when required.
Anyone know why he sometimes bends his left fingers toward the string rather than play on the fingertips?
Can give a richer tone in vibrato sometimes
El maestro de mi hija. Sin duda el mejor
I agree fully.
